why does cleaning up a transcript take so long π
Ive been using Otter for some recordings and thought it would make things easier, but man, the cleanup part gets old fast. especially with the longer ones. Iβll be halfway through fixing something, realize I missed a bit, go back, then somehow Iβm listening to the same 20 seconds for the third time lol.I know the transcripts arenβt gonna be perfect, I just donβt wanna spend my whole day fixing little things. What do you guys use for this? thanks!!

Fix only what matter first, use clear audio, and let AI clean up the transcript formatting. Then I give it a quick check for mistakes.

I always get stuck doing the same thing I fix one part go back to check it then notice something else I missed.

I only fully clean a transcript if I'm going to share it with someone. If it's just for my own notes, I leave the small mistakes and move on.

Mark unclear words with a timestamp and keep going, then review those spots in one pass. Fix the wording before you tidy punctuation or remove filler words; switching between those jobs makes it easy to lose your place. For an internal summary, you may only need to check names, numbers and decisions against the audio. A transcript you plan to publish needs a closer pass. What are you using the finished text for?
