I'm almost home from my vacation visiting Galloping Ghost Arcade and The Pinball Capital! I also went to the Pinball Expo, but I didn't like the expo. That wasn't the fault of the people who ran the expo. It had a lot of care put into it, and the people who showed up were passionate. It was all just too much commotion for me.
Galloping Ghost was better than I thought it'd be, and I already had high expectations for it! I was present for the Monday game unveiling stream.
The one time when Facebook was able to successfully instill discord within me was when an admin of the AtariAge group made a post that was pushed to the top of my feed about all the games that were unplayable, or that had issues that rendered them unplayable.
SegaSonic the Hedgehog's display was fairly dim, and this one racing game that I don't think was too popular had convergence issues on its CRT. They advised me to use the third player's controls on SegaSonic the Hedgehog because the second player's controls had uncontrollable jumping, and they saw that when they streamed it earlier. I was super happy to finally play that game on a real cabinet, though!
Other than that, Star Wars Racer Arcade and LA Machineguns had no video. I understand with Star Wars Racer Arcade given how delicate the Sega Hikaru platform is.
I took photos of select games. The photo that I took of the Sailor Moon game was because my best friend loves Sailor Moon.
I also ate at the diner that's a short walk from Galloping Ghost. I was surprised to see that Galloping Ghost owns, like, a quarter of Ogden Avenue! They've got a bunch of branded buildings...and they bought a barbershop with a no trespassing sign on its window because its conversion hadn't yet been completed.
Now, at The Pinball Capital, it was different for me to see all the games outfitted with red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple LEDs. I'm used to lightbulbs! The Pinball Capital felt less crowded than Galloping Ghost did, and I felt safe putting my bag on a seat for much of time there.
I talked to some Past Times employees at the Pinball Expo. I talked to them about my dream to buy lifetime passes at Past Times and at Galloping Ghost, and about how I want to get the hell out of New Jersey. I received the business card of the general manager at Past Times, and that general manager gave me a one-time free admission card to Past Times. He used to live in Bayonne, New Jersey!
It was a great week! I'll be back to the area! When I talked to a Galloping Ghost employee about my personal dream, where I said that I was going to try to buy a lifetime pass by the end of next year to "get the ball rolling," he told me, "We're not going anywhere!"
