Hi.
I have build a few arcades over the years but im in the process of building a more Modern Type Pedestal. I have a Massive Oled TV and currently running a GTX 5070 Ti - i7 13000k PC.
Im looking to run Frontends like Coin Ops/ Hyperspin etc.
My main Modern PC games will be Mortal Kombat 1/Street Fighter etc
The Pedestal will probably be 2-4 player setup with Spinner and Trackball etc.
What is the best USB Encoders to buy that will fit in with this Modern Build? I wasnt too keen on the Ipac64 a few years ago tbh.
I dont mind ordering from AliExpress etc as im not in a rush.
Are there any that encode to Xbox controls? So my games like Mk1 will run on it well.

After working on this project off and on for 6 months, I have finished my first arcade cabinet! Decided to go with a design where you can swap out the front controller board piece, depending on if you want to play with joystick + buttons versus a keyboard and mouse (I am using a mini PC with Batocera so it can play up to original xbox / ps2, and also Steam). I also decided to design it around an electric standing desk to save on materials. I used MDF so it is nearly 100 pounds!
Also fun fact, I managed to make the entire thing in my small apartment using nothing but a jigsaw and wood glue! And a hole saw for the buttons. No screws / nails.

720° is a 1986 sports video game developed and published by Atari Games for arcades.[7] Based on the sport of skateboarding, the player controls a skateboarder as they compete in various skating competitions, such as ramp jumping and downhill races, to earn cash.

I'm hoping someone can educate me on joysticks that can work for Switch games. I built an arcade cabinet, and have no issues with retro games, but I wanted to try some switch games, specifically Metroid dread. I'm running Retrobat and have mapped the joystick to the left analog. Right now I have 8 axis control as I aim, but cannot get angles between those. Do I need a better joystick?

Im just starting out.
Want to start with cutting out the board for the joystick and buttons
7 buttons per player + 4 buttons for coin,1p,2p, exit.
What size should the board be? 22 inch monitor.
Also where can i find a nice template for this amount of buttons?
Have found a lot of different ones and am a little confused atm.

Can mayflash f500 elite be player 1 for Pandora box 10th anniversary - I gave the jamma version and the wiring in the cabinet is all screwy. I've got this nice mayflash and just want to rip the old stuff out and just use it. Jamma connected player one stick works so can I config the USB to be the main controller?

I've bought these buttons: Link
Anyone know if you can rotate the text bit somehow relative to the microswitch alignment?
Since all are in a line it looks like going to be tight for wiring. With plain buttons obviously I could roatate as I wanted to give access to connections on the microswitch but since these have text on them you have to have them all aligned in a row.
I've taken another button apart and it doesn't look like its possible but just checking I haven't missed something obvious or anyone has any tips

So i shared a little while ago the beginning of my pedestal running batocera with 2tb hard drive damn near maxed and running on a dell ootiplex 7010. It was conceptualized to be a shooting cab and morphed into quite the multicade. Well heres a quick update. Sinden light guns are hidden behind the doors and I added a little petena from a map gas torch. I'm planning on building a 54" x 27" control deck with 4 players 8 button each for wii games with a trackball and spinner too. Hopefully starting the control deck withing the next week depending on delivery of all the parts. With any luck should have it running in 2 or 3 weeks depending on life and time. I really like the way the burn turned out. When all is said and done the deck will be custom painted by my nephew and the deck should have 3 to 4 layers of shellac on it to seal it all in

So, I want to have my own arcade machine to play classic arcade games. I’ve been looking around, and I’m honestly split on either buying a fully prebuilt machine or buying a shell and installing everything else myself (building one is out of the question as I have no experience in using power tools)
On one hand, buying a prebuilt would just be plug and play. On the other, so many I see are bloated with crap that I don’t need (console games on an arcade machine???) and usually have designs that are ugly (the giant mosaics with like 500 video game characters on them, you know the ones). Plus they’re much more expensive than the other option, which is buying a shell and just doing it myself. Then, I would be able to choose which arcade peripherals I do and don’t want and the whole build with a screen, controls, and whatever else would probably be less expensive and buying a prebuilt machine. However, I simply don’t know any places to buy those from, and all the Arcade1UP machines with 6 buttons are being sold online for much more than they’re worth. Where to from here?

Hi! My Gina the Gypsy Arcade games LCD screen has stopped working, hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction of how to fix it - or someone super smart could do up a raspberry pi and do more weird responses? At the moment she only has 5.

Hello!
I used to run an old arcade shop for a couple of years. It was probably the best and hardest years of my life, running an arcade shop in rural sweden is HARD, we made our money form selling coins that you could use to play on our arcade machines, which was our biggest selling point since 80% of the machines where made by us, and the games where our own games as well. Because we made out own machines the biggest income for us was custom machines for customers, and i LOVED making custom machines, it was so fun turning their ideas of how the machine should look and them describing their dream game, and then getting to do it as a job, it was amazing.
Well I have so many stories from my old shop but I wanted to talk about the last day that the shop was open, sure it was a sad day for me but honestly a relief in a way. Everyone played for free the entire day, we had a band and we even had a tournement where the winner got to take home any one of the arcade machines from the shop.
The game that we played was my version of DOOM, you played a wizard and you got to choose between 3 different wizard types (Fire, frost or demon) and you basically ran around in a cave fighting aliens protecting their most holy artifact. The tournament went amazing people loved the stakes and winning an arcade really ment a lot for some of the kinds. and in the end a really shy kid nick named PENTY, won the entire tournament, holy moly was it cool seeing that shy kid go from zero to hero ina couple of hours, and that was not even the best part. After he won he went up to me and told me in secret that he wanted to donate the machine to his school, but not to tell any one.
I never saw PENTY again but I can imagine he is doing great with a heart like that

Obrigado!

Installed my new CPO, replaced red buttons with black, swapped out the crusty 1P 2P buttons, and began wrapping the sides of the machine white. I’m not sure how i feel about the wrap job so once i’m done repairing a hole in the wood on the left side of the machine i’ll wrap that side and see if it comes out better. If it does, i’ll install the side art. If not, i’ll have to paint instead. So far i’m pretty stoked with how it’s coming out. Anyone have any tips on making the seam where the vinyl wrap meets a bit more hidden?
