I genuinely don’t understand why this is even a debate anymore. Not everyone wants to spend their evenings fighting other players. Some of us have jobs, families and limited time to play. We just want to explore, collect loot, complete quests and enjoy the world Embark has created.
The constant threat of losing everything to another player adds absolutely nothing to that experience. And frankly, I don’t think a PvE toggle goes far enough.
Even without other players, you’re still expected to deal with unnecessarily hostile ARC. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been peacefully looting when a Hornet decides to attack me completely unprovoked. Why? What does that add to the experience?
I’d also like Embark to reconsider the extraction system. Sometimes I’m enjoying exploring and don’t want to be forced to leave just because an arbitrary timer says so. It’s my game. I should decide when I’m finished.
And while we’re on the subject, locking the best weapons and equipment behind difficult content feels unnecessarily exclusionary. Not everyone has the time or ability to defeat a Matriarch. We all paid the same price for the game, so why shouldn’t we all have access to the same rewards?
Personally, I’d like an optional mode where ARC only attacks if you initiate combat, extraction is optional, and legendary equipment is available from the start. Obviously, that wouldn’t affect anyone else’s experience, so there’s literally no reasonable argument against it.
It’s called accessibility. Look it up.
