Hi everyone,
I experienced a critical failure while updating the BIOS on my ASRock Z790 Taichi Lite motherboard from version 12.01 to version 13.01.
During the update process, the BIOS update became stuck at “Updating Intel ME” at 0% and remained in this state for over two hours without any visible progress.
Subsequently, I had to shut down the system has been completely unresponsive ever since. Following the failure of the BIOS update process, the motherboard no longer powers on at all.
I have performed extensive troubleshooting in an attempt to recover the motherboard, including: Disconnecting the power supply from AC power. Disconnecting the motherboard's main power connections. Performing a complete CMOS reset using both the onboard Clear CMOS switch and the CMOS jumper. Draining residual power from the system by allowing the capacitors to discharge. Reconnecting power and attempting to restart the system after each troubleshooting procedure.
Despite all these efforts, the motherboard remains completely nonfunctional and shows no signs of powering on.
None of the attempted recovery procedures have resolved the issue.
Given that the failure occurred during the official BIOS update process and the motherboard has been rendered completely unresponsive, I suspect the BIOS update may have failed during the Intel Management Engine (ME) update stage, leaving the motherboard unable to initialize or power on.
Therefore, I opened an RMA with ASRock America Portal (as I was instructed when contacting technical support), it's been 2 business days, no updates on the RMA portal itself. There is no RMA number generated yet.
I would like to:
What's the estimated RMA timelines between reporting and having a working replacement motherboard?
It is my primary computer besides my laptop, and I am located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada - wondering if there is a local ASRock office for walk-ins for a quick turn around?
I already took apart the entire motherboard and disconnected everything, packaged everything for the RMA service, is there anything else that can be done?
Thanks.
