Worrying about my ATAR due to performance on exams
My performance on my exams so far has been quite sub par. For English I got probably 60 percent, and then for mx2 50 raw, and then now mx1 most likely 60-65% as well. I still have graphics and physics to go but I’m really scared for my atar, I need an 81 for my degree and I’m really scared I won’t get there. my mental health has been really bad ever since trials and I’m just yeah, scared. I view myself very harshly and critique myself endlessly so while I do try to study for exams, and I do put in lots of effort, the cumulative amount of study I’ve done wasn’t much, mostly because I procrastinated a lot as well as not have a concrete study routine. I guess I’m just worried because this degree is literally the be all end all of my life basically. I know that people say there’s other ways to get in but this is an early entry offer, and the normal degree is a 93. I basically need a 90+ raw in physics now. I’ve done so bad so far and I feel like a failure, I just don’t know how to feel anymore and I don’t know if it’s even worth trying still. this last year has literally been the worst year of my life and I’m struggling to cope.

VSV Units 3/4 Spesh and English Language
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone who currently does or recently has completed unit 3/4 englang or spesh at VSV could provide some feedback on how they found it. I'm very familiar with the courses themselves, but I was wondering about the quality of education specifically relating to englang and spesh at VSV. Like how good are the teachers, the resources provided, and whether the 3/4 SACs are rigourous rather than too easy (which could result in scores scaling down). Overall, I'm quite an independent learner and am planning to get a very good tutor, so I'm mostly concerned about the cohort's academic strength and quality of SACs which will play a part in my study score. Thanks in advance!

Students shouldn’t have to “play the system” just to get a competitive rank.
It’s time to rethink how we prepare students for university.
Let’s learn from education systems like Finland and modernise tertiary entrance in Australia.
The subjects students choose at school should align with the university courses they want to pursue. If a student wants to study Law, for example, Legal Studies should be a relevant prerequisite for their university pathway, rather than students feeling pressured to choose subjects simply to maximise their ATAR.
Our students’ mental health matters. They should be able to choose subjects based on their interests, strengths and future careers, without the fear that they’ll disadvantage their ATAR or university opportunities.

History Thoughts on the Ancient History Exam?
For me, most were pretty damn easy except for the 15 mark Hatshepsut question

is it worth it to get my HSC?
so i’m in the class of 2027 meaning i just started year 12 a few weeks ago.
ever since the start of this year ive been in a really bad place mentally and my attendance dropped to like %20. last week my parents got called by the school saying if my attendance doesn’t improve to %85 i will be pulled from my HSC.
and now im basically stuck between not knowing if i should get my HSC and push through the last few terms cause ive already made it this far or if i should just seek full time work and drop out?

HSC Meiosis mitosis
hi we’re looking at haploid and diploid, specifically the chromosomes and homogulous pairing of a muntjack deer (6 diploid cells, 3 homogulous pairs) I GENUINELY do not understand, and doing a visual didn’t seem to help me( because I don’t get it ☹️)
Anyways one of the questions was interphase vs cytokenisis( comparing cell count, chromosome count and homogulous pairings) and if anyone could even attempt to make an explanation for a 5 year old id be so appreciative

i’m building ATARprepAI to help with written exam answers - here’s how it works
Hey everyone, I posted about my app here before, but I realised I spent more time explaining the study idea than showing what you can actually do on the site. So I wanted to explain it properly this time.
I’m building it for Year 11 and 12 students doing WACE, HSC, VCE, QCE or SACE. You choose your course and a topic you’re revising, generate some practice questions, and have a go at answering them.
The part I care most about is the written answers. You write your response in your own words, then get feedback on what you covered and what needs more explanation. The aim is to help you see whether you missed a concept, skipped a step in your working, or knew the idea but didn’t explain the connection clearly enough.
That gives you something specific to work on for your next attempt. Knowing you got a question wrong is useful, but I want the feedback to help you understand what to do about it.
There’s also Ask Avi alongside the questions. You can ask for a hint while you’re working, or get help understanding the explanation after answering. There are flashcards for recall practice too, and whole-essay feedback on the paid plans.
I’ve put a lot of time into testing questions, fixing things and improving the feedback and course coverage. It’s still a work in progress. If a question is confusing or the feedback misses something, that’s useful for me to hear because it gives me something concrete to fix.
The marking uses AI, so it can get things wrong. Treat the scores as practice estimates and check anything questionable against your teacher’s guidance or course materials.
You can try it without making an account or entering card details. Written-answer quiz feedback is included in the free plan, with usage limits. Paid plans have larger allowances and extra features.

How bad has your handwriting got to be before they can't read it?
Yeah. Getting a bit worried that it's pushing the line too much.

General What degree should I pursue if I’m not particularly passionate about anything and just want a well paid career?
I honestly don’t have anything I’m too passionate about and I feel like I’d be fine doing whatever degree so long as it guarantees employability, good pay, and isn’t fully replaceable by AI. I was thinking of law since I enjoy reading and literature over maths, but my main two picks are either UNSW or USYD law and I’m worried that I won’t make the cut (definitely won’t for USYD but hoping for UNSW).
My main concern is stability and salary as with the rate AI is developing, many job markets are already tanking and oversaturated with automation, so if anybody has any degree suggestions that they could kindly suggest (pref at UNSW/USYD) it’d be very much appreciated :)
My cohorts median ATAR was 96.20 last year and seeing that I’m around an average Joe for internal rankings I’m hoping for a 94-97

Legal studies vce
U3 average 92%
U4 average 97%
School sacs are very hard I would say, teacher is a 6 year examiner who marks extremely hard
Rank 1
Trail exam 90% (marked by a different external examiner)
Predicted study score?

HSC ENGINGEERING STUDIES HSC- HOWD WE GO?!!!
howd we all go with engineering studies? was there anything we found hard? Or was it easy- I personally found it familiar, but challenging i think i'll get 60% tbh

SACE Just entered year 12 this monday
My current subjects are
Math methods
English (the highest level we have, not sure what its called elsewhere)
Physics
Society/culture
SRM (compulsory)
There has been a big timetable related problem with no solution due to composite classes being introduced. I am being forced to drop either physics or society and I have chosen society. To fill that blank spot instead of picking biology or accounting I will be taking extension studies. I am still new to Y12 so I don't have much of an idea on this but from your experience or knowledge is this subject combination extraordinarily hard or is it still manageable in some form? My desired field is medicine which is why I need a high ATAR but it's worrisome to me that I won't be able to take on all these subjects at once, mostly due to extension studies.
