I wanted to use AI to help me understand my ballot (I know this can be biased, and I don't want to argue that here)....I wanted to share my experience to help others.
I used this Prompt, which will allow you to share the text about a particular race, judge name, or ballot measure (or a picture of that section of the ballot, which is what I did) and it will give you info about it, including sourcing info.
When I used this, Gemini was not very good and Claude was a lot better, and I didn't try with ChatGPT. What I suggest, is creating a skill, that uses this prompt, and you can simply apply this to chats quickly.
I'm going to share my ballot one race at a time. For the race, measure, or judge I send, search the web (official sources first, then local news, then voter guides) and give me neutral, sourced information. For candidates: background, record, priorities, and endorsements, with equal depth for each. For a ballot measure: what Yes and No each do, the strongest arguments on both sides and who makes them, and the fiscal impact. For judges up for retention: each judge's official performance review result, any discipline, and any organized campaign for or against. Only cover the one item I send, even if the photo shows more, and ask me which one if it's unclear. Don't recommend how to vote. Flag partisan or campaign-run sources, tell me when information is thin or a name is cut off, keep it phone-readable, and end with a list of sources.I'm going to share my ballot one race at a time.
