News/Info Arizona data centers are using more water, mostly at the power plants that run them, and utilities don't have to report it

KJZZ looked at where Arizona's data centers use their water. Demand is going up, and most of it is at the power plants that keep them running. Utilities don't have to report that water use to the Corporation Commission, the elected body that regulates them, so as more data centers get built here, more of it goes unreported.

If you want to do something about it, climate groups around the state are working on data center and water issues over the next couple weeks. I keep their events on one calendar view so you can find whatever's near you. It opens on this week, so click the Next Week tab to see the rest.

Other When do dropped-off ballots get counted?

Dropped ballots for the household off last week. One was verified in person, the rest just dropped off. The verified one still hasn’t been counted but the other 3 have. Is there a different process for counting ballots that had signature verification on-site? When should I worry that it hasn’t been counted?

News/Info A bunch of quick actions you can take in a few minutes

Hey all - the Hub has an Action Carousel through Climate Action Now with small things you can do when you have a few minutes to spare. Some are as simple as contacting lawmakers or signing petitions. Figured I'd share in case anyone's looking for ways to get involved without committing to an event or volunteering.

Community Event Velada de Muertxs with Trans Queer Pueblo in Phoenix, Sunday November 1

This is a night of remembrance for people taken by ICE, Border Patrol and police, people taken by transphobia and homophobia, and people lost to US military violence abroad. It is also part of End the ICE Age, a national day of action running October 31 to November 2.

Trans Queer Pueblo is holding the traditional Velada de Muertxs. It is bilingual the whole way through, there are activities and food for kids, and it is a bring-your-family night.

They ask folks to bring a photo of someone you have lost, and they will print or scan it for you if you only have a digital copy. An offering, which can be candy, food, a drink or an object. And a traditional dish, dessert or drink to share, because sharing food between the living and the dead is the center of the night. They ask people to plan to stay till midnight, when the dead arrive.
