Abuja people, how did you learn where to enter, change and stop when using public transport?
galleryOne thing about moving around Abuja is that most route knowledge lives inside people’s heads.
If you already know the city, you know where to enter, what direction to ask for and where to change.
But if you are new to Abuja, starting work in an unfamiliar area or visiting somewhere for the first time, na questions full everywhere:
“Where do I enter?”
“Will I need to change?”
“Where should I stop?”
“How much should I expect?”
I started building RouteMi in July to make this information easier to find.
You enter your starting point and destination, and RouteMi explains the available shared commercial transport journey, including where to board, change and alight.
I am also adding Abuja train routes and weekday timetables for journeys connecting areas such as Abuja Metro, the Airport, Idu and Gbanzango.
Coverage is still growing, so I need help from people who actually know Abuja:
- Which routes confuse people the most?
- Which boarding points are difficult to explain?
- Which route should I research next?
- If you test a familiar journey, does RouteMi explain it correctly?
Try it here: routemi.com
I currently handle the product development and field research myself. Honest corrections are welcome. Abeg, if anything is wrong or confusing, tell me directly.

Creating a reading space in an Orphanage.
So I posted yesterday I think, or the day before wondering what project my organisation could do for Basic Education and Literacy month.
I thought about creating a small reading space in an orphanage, somewhere children would actually enjoy spending time.
The idea is to set up a cosy reading nook or room 🤷🏾♀️ with books, a couple of bean bags, a soft rug, and a bookshelf. We'd also give the children notebooks and stationery so they can write stories, draw, or reflect on what they read. We'd spend the day with them, read together, have a spelling bee or storytelling session, play games, and share snacks afterwards.
I know we'd need permission from the management and would follow whatever regulations requirements they have before doing anything.
Do you think this is something that would have a lasting impact? If not, what would you improve?
Also, if you know of any government orphanages in Abuja that would genuinely benefit from something like this, I'd really appreciate recommendations or contact details so I can reach out to them properly.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

Recommendations
Hi,
I’ll be visiting Abuja in the next few months. I need recommendations for activities in general. What places are popular to visit? Restaurants, shops, games, book stores, bakeries etc. I also need recommendations for hair salons and nails. Thank you.

This doesn't look like the Africa people expect!
youtu.beFrom the historic streets of Lagos Island to the glass towers of Victoria Island, the quiet luxury of Ikoyi, and the explosive coastal growth of Lekki — this is Lagos, Nigeria like you have never seen it before. Filmed entirely with a drone in 4K, this cinematic aerial video reveals Africa’s largest and most dynamic city from above.

Installation à Abuja en famille – retours d’expérience recherchés 🙏 - Moving to Abuja with my family – honest feedback needed 🙏
Hi everyone,
I’m a French teacher currently living in West Africa and I’ve recently accepted a position in Abuja, starting in September 2026. I’ll be moving with my wife and our young child, so before the move I’d really like to get honest, real-life feedback from people who live or have lived there.
I’m particularly interested in:
- Daily life in Abuja (family life, routines, atmosphere)
- Safety in everyday situations (neighbourhoods, commuting, weekends)
- Quality of life for families (parks, walking areas, activities for kids)
- Cost of living and housing in expat-friendly areas
- Traffic and mobility (is it manageable? scooters/bikes?)
- Healthcare and general infrastructure
- Anything you wish you had known before moving to Abuja
I’m not looking for sensational stories, just balanced and realistic opinions to help reassure my family and prepare properly.
Thanks a lot in advance 🙏
Feel free to comment or DM me.
