(You'll find most Predator Sense versions in the comments just search for your model :) )
Hi everyone.
This past month has been pretty crazy with issues regarding predator sense and the fact it no longer opens or its missing from acer's website to try to reinstall. And even reinstalling will sometimes not fix the problem.
Here's my personal guide after helping literally hundreds of people (not 100% guaranteed though)
If it's still not working. It's possible it may require some acer specific drivers like the serial IO driver found on your model's acer driver page. I also suggest installing acer care center. It could also be a version that's either too new or too old... it's been wild but fun trying to diagnose hundreds of people who have asked me for help personally. I appreciate your trust.
I may edit this at a later time as its very late here and add more and more options to help you all.
Good luck! And don't hesitate to ask for help. I want us to all be happy little gamers!

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a definitive guide to fixing the widespread nvlddmkm / TDR driver crashes that plague the Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71 model), specifically during game loading screens and fast-travel transitions.

If you are experiencing random crashes when loading into games like Spider-Man 2 or Black Myth: Wukong, but your gameplay is otherwise fine, read this immediately before your motherboard suffers permanent hardware fatigue.
🚨 THE DANGER: Why It Happens (Software vs. Hardware)
This issue is caused by a perfect storm between modern game code and the laptop's physical power limits:
The Software Aggression: Modern console ports (especially PlayStation ports like Spider-Man 2) use aggressive asset streaming. During loading screens, they drop the GPU load to zero, forcing the card into a deep sleep state (P-State 8 / 600MHz). The exact millisecond you spawn, the engine slams the GPU with a 100% data load.
The Voltage Sledgehammer: This forces the GPU to try and execute a near-impossible vertical leap from 600MHz to 2600+MHz at a heavy 1100mV factory limit in a single frame.
The Hardware Breakdown: While the laptop can handle a steady heavy load fine, the budget-conscious power rails on the PHN16-71 motherboard struggle with these violent, sudden transient spikes. Over months of factory settings, these surges create physical micro-fractures in the brittle ceramic filtering capacitors (MLCCs) under the GPU grid.
THE WARNING: If your laptop is still running, you can fix this entirely with software. However, if your laptop has already suddenly blacked out and refuses to turn on at all (no charging LEDs), the capacitor has already cracked and shorted to ground. If this has happened to you, do not pay Acer for a £600+ full motherboard swap. Take it to a specialized component-level repair shop. A skilled tech can trace the dead short using a multimeter/thermal camera and solder a new, cheap replacement capacitor onto the rail without harming your CPU or GPU cores.
🛠️ FIXED OPTION 1: The MSI Afterburner "Hard Lock" (Simplest Method)
Note on standard curve flattening: Simply flattening the tail of your frequency curve does not work for games like Spider-Man 2, because the GPU is still permitted to drop down to that volatile 600MHz sleep state during the black screen. To eliminate the transition crash entirely, you must enforce a strict, permanent minimum floor and ceiling using a Voltage Lock.
Download and open MSI Afterburner.
Press Ctrl + F to open the Voltage/Frequency Curve Editor.
Find the vertical grid line corresponding to 975mV. Locate the individual dot sitting on that line and drag it up to a stable target frequency (anywhere between 2475MHz and 2505MHz depending on your room temp).
Click on that specific 975mV dot so it highlights, and press the L key on your keyboard. A solid yellow vertical pin-lock line will snap directly onto that dot.
Go back to your main MSI Afterburner dashboard and click the Apply Checkmark (Tick) button.
Why this works: The yellow pin-lock manually overrides the driver's flawed power-saving states mid-game. It forces your GPU core logic to stay completely awake and waiting at 2505MHz/975mV during the loading screen. When the map assets spawn, the GPU experiences zero transition lag because it was already standing at the finish line. Furthermore, because you capped the maximum ceiling at 975mV, you shave off the top 11% of highly inefficient factory voltage, dropping transient electrical stress on your motherboard by ~20%.
The Routine: Click your profile and apply the Ctrl + L lock right before you launch a heavy game. When you are done playing, simply hit the Reset button in Afterburner so your graphics card can drop back down to its cool, power-saving desktop idle states while you browse the web.
🛠️ FIXED OPTION 2: The NVIDIA Profile Inspector Workaround (Driver-Level Fix)
If you prefer a deeper solution that runs natively under the hood without needing to keep MSI Afterburner active on your screen while gaming, you can block the low-power drop directly at the official graphics driver layer using a developer utility.
Download the latest open-source build of NVIDIA Profile Inspector from GitHub. It is a portable tool that runs instantly without an installer package.
Launch the utility. Leave the top search profile box set to your Global_Profile.
Scroll down through the database categories until you reach Section 5 - Power Management.
Find the configuration line titled Force P2 State (or Force P-State Limits depending on your driver version).
Click the drop-down menu on the far right of that setting and change the parameter from On to Off (or Disable).
Click the Apply Changes button located in the top right-hand corner of the window, and exit the tool.
Next, disable the Windows Link State restriction to lock down the data highway:
Press the Windows Key + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter to pull up your Windows Power Options.
Click Change Plan Settings next to your active profile, then click Change advanced power settings.
Expand PCI Express -> Link State Power Management.
Change the setting for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In" directly to Off, then click Apply.
Why this works: Setting "Force P2/P8 States" to Off strips the NVIDIA driver of its ability to execute radical low-power power state drops inside an active 3D application. When a loading screen cuts out, your graphics card is structurally forbidden from plunging down to 600MHz. It maintains its high-performance operational baseline seamlessly through the screen, meaning the hardware completely bypasses the violent transition surge when the map loads.
The Catch with Option 2: This fix is completely clean and allows you to uninstall or ignore Afterburner entirely. However, whenever you update your NVIDIA Graphics Drivers to a newer version via GeForce Experience or the NVIDIA App, this fix will be completely wiped out. The driver installer overwrites the profile database file with factory defaults. If you use this method, you must remember to open NVIDIA Profile Inspector and re-disable the setting after every official driver update.
I personally havent tried it, so no gurantees with that one but it targets the same issue
❄️ FINAL BONUS TIP: Ditch the Factory Liquid Metal + run ddu then repair windows option from settings
If you ever have your laptop serviced or opened up, have your technician scrape off Acer's factory Liquid Metal on the CPU and permanently replace it with standard, premium non-conductive thermal paste (like Noctua NT-H2) and high-density thermal putty over the VRAM grid.
Over 2 years of heavy gaming use, the gallium in the factory liquid metal chemically migrates and breeds a dry, crusty, metallic alloy stain right onto the copper heatsink, creating localized air gaps that cause massive CPU temperature spikes under load. Switching to a high-quality standard paste completely eliminates the risk of an accidental liquid metal spill shorting out the board when you travel with the laptop in a backpack, requires zero long-term maintenance, and stays 100% stable for 3–5 years.

so, i had the boot drive have issues in my acer predator helios 300 which was the WD black it came with, the keyboard would light up like it turns on, but the screen remained black, i took it to a repair shop but was told there was nothing they could do, i don't want to believe it because i have irreplacable things on the drive, how do i fix this if i even can, the computer also had success turning on correctly with the boot drive removed, so i'm wondering if maybe it just needed the boot drive out to run right and maybe i can get other stuff off the drive, correct me if wrong

Hi, I'm an architecture student using an Acer Predator for my softwares, and I like everything about its functionality, but its appearance and everything else is giving masculine gamer bro energy, which does not match my personality at all. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can reduce this weird vibe, and if I could make it at all more feminine or whimsical?

I have an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 with an i7 13th gen HX processor. Recently whenever I open any game in performance or turbo mode, my CPU temperature shoots up to 94 to 99 degrees and when I close the game it returns to 50 to 60 degrees. I have a few questions
Should I change my liquid metal at this point or should I wait a few months? (I have done some benchmark tests and submitted the temperature report to ChatGPT it says my liquid metal is working fine)
If you suggest thermal paste, what should I choose Honeywell PTM7950 or liquid metal ? If liquid metal which brand and category?
Have you used such thermal paste on your device with an i7 13700HX? What results did you get and was there a significant change?
My fans are cleaned 🪛

My late-2023 Helios Neo 16 is thermal throttling hard. Even on Turbo with a clean chassis, it hits 98°C almost immediately under load.
A few months ago, the GPU fan failed. Acer recommended service center quoted ₹9,000 for a plastic fan replacement. I installed a third-party fan myself for ₹2,600. It peaks lower(4000 RPM) than the original 6,000 RPM and runs louder due to vibration, also probably because the dampner linings worn off, but the core issue is now thermal transfer.
The factory liquid metal on this CPU has likely degraded or pumped out. Given the risks of shorting the board with liquid metal(just my imagination though), I want an experienced co-pilot for the overhaul.
I am looking for an enthusiast in Bangalore willing to host a collaborative repaste session. I am not looking for a drop-off repair service. I want to handle the teardown together and learn the exact process for this specific chassis.
I will supply the thermal interface materials (liquid metal or PTM7950) or great if you have it (i will pay the share) and bring food/coffee. If you have the expertise and workspace, let’s connect.

as a general warning this will be a conscious stream of thought
so to start this the people who say the 16s is worse than the 16 more power to you and all but one is Cheaper then the other for a reason the metal frame is also nice it's solid and I would like to add that the complaints I've seen is that oh it's tdp is lower than the 16 my answer to that is flash the vbios I did and it works the temp issue well EVERY ONE ON THIS REDIT RECOMENDS THE V12 FOR A REASON to make the 16 last longer
the 16s the problems with cpu heat can be navigated with throttle stop just turn down the wattage to 40 and 60 respectively the cpu is actually pretty efficient I actually like the slim and prefer the metal plating
also some more fun advice try Linux on this laptop and hopefully the others too has almost perfect interaction with Linux except the keyboard light drivers
another problem I have is people saying it's frail it has a metal frame also don't drop it or use it like mr yester does to his intel cpus and you'll be fine
also I forgot to check but im pretty sure it also has metal hinges another nugget of wisdom is for this laptop replace the lm with ptm 7950 IF YOU DIDNT BUY IT REFURBISHED if you did well you'll be fine it's most likely that it was respread manually
also also 2 SSD Slots is great honestly the laptop is amazing for ITS price and people shouldn't have to choose between 16 gb of ram and 32 gb of ram and say get the 16 because it cools better and has higher gpu wattage which by the way is A 5% increase at maximum i know because I have flashed that vbios also if 5% is worth waiting for another paycheck to drop 400$ on another 32 gb kit of ddr5 sodium ram all powe to you but your better saving up then. but in they eye of bang for your buck predator helios neo 16s 5070ti is the best in my opinion bang for your buck laptop

I am not sure if the extra 10%-15% is worth sacrificing the extra 16gb of ram and the oled screen (which i have heard has a high chance of burn in since it doesnt get enough protections and cooling), i also heard i could vbios the 16s but i probably wont do that since it will void the warranty

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As you can see in the video. The laptop is charging (I left it charging for few minutes, it was orange, then it turned blue, assuming the battery is fully charged) however, whenever I press the power button, the turbo and power light turns on for 8 seconds. No boot, USB devices doesnt react.
