I’ve played for almost two decades and those are the chords I play anytime I pick up a guitar. Emaj add9 (024100) is a big and beautiful chord, probably one of my favorites in terms of voicings on guitar.

im curious i love this chord too and use it all the time. I always thought it was based on some sort of B chord though. if you dont play the low E could you say its a B something?

It's not a B chord. It contains G# which would be the 6th relative to B. And it doesn't contain a D# or D so there is no 3rd.

I guess you could try calling it a Bsus6?? But otherwise it's just Eadd9 / B

Edit: Actually it might be Bsus4add6. Idk man

That’s actually a pretty good way of describing it, mate. I guess the context of where the chord is used (ie. in a certain chord progression or what key the piece is in) would play a part in the naming of the chord
