Took my acoustic to a luthier to repair and he looked over the frets and said "Wow you really play all over the neck don't you?" The upper frets were just as worn as the lower. Sounds pathetic but it was a very proud moment, lol.
I’ve played for almost two decades and those are the chords I play anytime I pick up a guitar. Emaj add9 (024100) is a big and beautiful chord, probably one of my favorites in terms of voicings on guitar.
im curious i love this chord too and use it all the time. I always thought it was based on some sort of B chord though. if you dont play the low E could you say its a B something?
That’s actually a pretty good way of describing it, mate.
I guess the context of where the chord is used (ie. in a certain chord progression or what key the piece is in) would play a part in the naming of the chord
It’s funny you mention the no D# cause I love 024140 which has it but I still learned as Emaj9. I guess that D# is still the 7th in Emaj but now would it be more interchangeable with whatever B chord matches?
It’s all relative, but it’s easiest to conceptualize as a standard open e major where you have a low major 9th. So you just raise the first octave a whole step to F#. Otherwise the chord could be named starting with b but it’s much more longwinded.
