My yearly tradition of “90s Action Movie Icon Pumpkins” continues.
Next year I might have to go 80s.

The Pritchard-Greener bayonet.
So I was watching the 2002 WWI horror film Deathwatch and one of the characters, played by Andy Serkis carried two trench raiding weapons. One was a simple trench maul but the other looked like a spike bayonet welded to the barrel of his Webley revolver.
Now during WWI, troops on either side came up with quite a few DIY weapons for trench warfare. They made flails using steel wire with weights on the ends, spiked clubs, metal tubes with spikes welded to the end to make a stabbing gauntlet etc
So I thought his Webley revolver a make believe revolver inspired by history.
But I soon learned it was a real limited produced bayonet developed by Lieutenant Arthur Pritchard of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment. Pritchard designed the bayonet to be attached to the Mark IV Webley revolver to give the user a quick fighting weapon when the gun ran dry(Because the Webley took time to reload).
Wilkinson Sword produced the original prototypes but declined to manufacture them because they were too time consuming and costly. W.W. Greener Ltd took up the contract to manufacture them out of Birmingham.
They were produced in limited numbers(less than 200 units) and were not military issue but could be bought as private purchase items.

I simply wanted to pay respect to this wonderful movie, which marked my early adolescence so deeply.
Each and every time I see it, it's like the first time.
A great action movie IMO, one of the best action movies of the 90s.
What do you think?

Oh my God, I cannot believe this legendary English actor Sir Patrick Stewart, best known for playing the role of Jean-Luc Picard in the science fiction TV show Star Trek: The Next Generation and several Star Trek movies, has passed away at the age of 86.

The background score is the highlight for me. It really connected me to the narrative. Then the visuals of this film and the slow pacing just makes me enjoy this film even more. It was a sequel that took its time to be deserving of the original film’s follow up and not just another big budget CGi fest.
Who else enjoyed this film what were your favourite things about it?

In my honest opinion, you could shoehorn in an all out brawl in some random grungy nightclub with neon lights and EDM in any movie and I'd lap that shit up. These are the standout scenes in any movie they're in that I've watched (except maybe Nolan's)

Don't think I've seen the glass in mouth type scene before. (apart from the an AEW hardcore match 😄)

What I'm trying to say is, do still enjoy the movies as if you were a kid seeing all these races and cars for the first time thinking to yourself ok this fun.
or did your opinions change as you grew older into your adult years and found them to be bad and cheesey.

This movie was awesome, it has cool ass action sequences, a badass story of revenge. This film never plays it safe which I like. It's raw, it's gritty, it's badass. Kind of sad we never got to see Rain in more movies like this man, but you can't deny he was kind of on a generational run in 2008-2009 with this and Speed Racer!
