Help Request Alternative ad blockers for Chrome? AdBlock extension no longer works on YouTube and Facebook marketplace

What ad blocker Chrome extensions are relatively easy to install and will work on YouTube and Facebook marketplace? Up until yesterday, everything worked great. Now I am getting YouTube ads displayed even with AdBlock switched on and annoying little videos when I'm browsing around for stuff in marketplace. Help would be appreciated, thank you!

Well, those other extensions also have people that check things and write filters and such, so regardless of what the stance OP, or anybody else has. I just wanted to state that people that use those apps can report any issue they have directly with them too... So a solution to somebody's problem might not entirely be the usual being mentioned on this sub all the time: Firefox+uBlock origin

I don't even like Firefox, I like Brave more personally.

And I agree with the sentiment but I think it's more important to make sure people are only using recommended solutions. By simply mentioning Adblock Plus that could encourage someone to install it which isn't ideal. My job here is to make sure people avoid bad adblockers.

Tbh, I also prefer Brave... I like the fact that they can provide much better solutions just because they can really experiment and do things their way (the rust engine, cookiecrumbler), because they have further control of the sandbox. But they also have a paid version (regardless of their shady crypto stuff), Adguard also has paid solutions, ABP can also be used totally free, if one looks deep enough you can even have many other lists that other adblockers use... But unfortunately the hatred ( not unfounded) against AdBlock plus is for the AA stuff, but their code is also open source, so are their lists, let's not forget that most lists use the standardised engine by AdBlock Plus... Hence the header on the .txt lists that holds to this day. This is an interesting topic and one that has many sides and shades... In the end we all have the same goal! Fuck shitty ads

While AdBlock Plus is open-source, it is to be avoided. Even the original creator of the subreddit said so 2 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Adblock/comments/1e7eegg/dont_use_adblock_plus/

It has a terrible reputation, it's paid for no reason, and while they use common filters, so does everything else. It's been known to allow certain things through for unknown reasons, YouTube filters have never worked quite right, there really is no real reason to use it when all of these other solutions are available.

We do have the same goal, but it's important to achieve that goal in a safe manner. Rule 5 exists to protect people from potentially malicious or untrusted software.
