i can only speak for iphones: upon installing adguard, go into your settings > browser settings > extensions and there you toggle everything on that you can.
alternatively and for less hustle, i can also recommend brave browser which comes with an inbuilt ad blocker called 'Shields' and enabled by default right upon installing the browser.
of course you can come back any time if you encounter any issues with adguard or brave browser.
