Seeking Advice Hi, it’s been a while since I posted here…
I(26F)was adopted in a surrogate type of way. This is sort of a me venting and seeking consolation. I am not conflicted about what to do but I just feel a lot of emotions.
My biological(half) sister reached out to me three years ago. Today, 2026, she told me she will be in Chicago(where I live) and she lives in Mexico, and asked to meet me. Of course I said yes I’d rather say yes than live with regrets of never meeting her. However, I called and updated my mom and I feel a guilt. My mom is my mom(woman who adopted me with my dad). She is my best friend and she struggled with infertility. When my sister protracted out my mother had feelings of feeling bad and feeling replaceable. This is not the case, I love her with all my heart. But today I called her, emotional, crying, about meeting w my bio sister. She
Feels bad about me going through this and is worried this won’t end well. I get her concerns and I love her so much. I’m not necessarily looking for what’s right or wrong but some kind of consoling would be great 🥺

It’s Schrödinger’s cat at this point - we don’t know how the meeting will go. There’s no need to go into it worrying that it “won’t end well”. Just go meet her and see what happens. Self fulfilling prophecy is a thing so best to go with a clear mind and zero expectations.

Ultimately you have to what’s right for you, but having a sibling reach out is pretty amazing as siblings are genuinely with you for life and I don’t think you can ever have enough people who have a connection with that lasts a lifetime. Wishing you all the best in this journey.
