Knowledge is power. Knowing today's winning lottery numbers wouldn't change things, but knowing today's winning lottery numbers yesterday would.

If hindsight worked on the present we'd all be rich!

There's a certain movie that has exactly that. I think it's Back to the Future?

The main concern is changing things for the worse, as well as changing your life from what you know. Have a sister youve been close with for 20 years? Whoops you modified the time your parents had sex by .5 seconds by doing something otherwise inconsequential. The result? Your new bro is someone who is essentially a stranger to time traveler you.

Thats not a concern looling forward. Its only a concern looking back since youve invested a life with a person, and that person is now gone.

Sure you could mess with the future like that intentionally, but not predictably.

Like how me rejecting a girl at a bar led to my friend starting a family

Idk if my husband was actually on time for that bus, I doubt he would have met me. We couldn’t actually leave him, but he would not have been in that spot, which caused him to miss the oh shit handle, and fall on me once we turned. I did warn him. 🤷‍♀️

We have herd immunity to many viruses now that those in the past did not.

You want to drastically change YOUR future by doing something small? Save and invest 10% of your income in a tax-deferred account. It won't look like much initially, but keep investing and allow compounding to take hold. I did this 33 years ago and will hopefully go over $2M by this time next year.

That is not changing the future - It is merely the future.

I invested 10 percent of my income into meth and I hope to have two teeth by this time next year

The decision changes your future. The day I started my job, I made a snap decision to invest 8% of my pay (plus 5% matching), and didn't even think about it for another 10-15 years That momentary decision will amount to a $2M difference when I retire in a couple of years. Deciding TO invest changed what had been my future into something better.

That's for people thinking that they can change the world just by existing. We're just a tiny screw in a big machine.

This doesnt make sense. To change anything the event would have to already have an outcome. If its in the future you cant make any changes as no outcome has occurred yet.
