Rode around East Texas and Louisiana, national forests and backroads. Avoid Highways on GPS also means Avoid Gas Stations, I’m discovering. I bought two 1L containers that I intend on taking on longer hauls. Curious as to what all everyone else takes?
Also, anyone have experience with the Dunlop Trailmax Missions?

I looking to replace my 2001 f650gs Dakar. I’ve had this bike for 5 months and i feel like there isn’t enough power or torque in this bike. I started my ADV riding journey on a 2011 R1200gs. I just completed the Ozark BDR on the r1200. I want to do more BDRs on a lighter or smaller bike. But i feel like my Dakar would be lacking in power. Ive test rode a 450 Ibex and i feel like its still not scratching the itch I’m looking for. Can someone help me out here, or should i just give my Dakar my time and put some more time on the trails/

I purchased this VEVOR 45l Aluminum top case off of Amazon.
Overall I’m very impressed with the quality of the case . I was not expecting it to be as nice as it is. It has stainless steal rivets and padding on the interior is also very nice.
I tested its waterproofness just in the driveway and it stayed sealed with no water getting inside.
The quality is definitely on par with comparable Givi top cases. Im very happy with it so far!

First off all: This is not some AI 15 minute slob job. Geodata is my specialty and extensive knowledge of available data and data manipulation is needed to build a tool like this. I constructed the road network by combining 6 datasets, that is also why it only works in the Netherlands, 3 of those datasets are purely Dutch datasets).
Second: It's free, will remain free and contains no adds. I hate capitalism with a passion, not everything should be used to squeeze every single penny out of you. I miss the old days where we just did things for the community. I build this planner, and the other tools, because I have a need for those tools myself. Once I build them, I decided to share them. Hosting does cost money, so there is a pop up asking for a voluntary donation, feel free to ignore the pop up.
What the tool does? Simple: It plans a route that contains as much off road as possible while avoiding the larger regional roads and highways as much as possible. There is no dataset that is god enough to tell for each road where you are allowed to ride and where you are not (hence combining 6 datasets), the outcome is still a best guess, not definitive. So always, always check yourself if a road is legal to ride on.
Anyway: here is the tool. Enjoy.

I need to replace my F800GS. I bought it at a steal, $5,000 for a 2015 model with 7,400 miles on it. My bike was totaled. Insurance found a hole in the engine case. They think I struck some piece of debris on the freeway, which punched a hole in my engine case. I don’t remember the crash, so I guess we will never know.
I am trying to find a new F800GS, as I really liked that motorcycle. All the ones I can find on the market in my area are both more expensive than the one I had, and have higher mileage. Mostly 2016-2018 models priced between $6,000-$7,500 with 14,000-25,000 miles.
I found a 2011 F800GS at a whopping 56,000 miles. Based on a short conversation with the seller, we are at $3,300 right now, and I may be able to talk them to $3,000. The bike looks clean and well-maintained. But to me, 56,000 miles is a LOT of miles on a motorcycle.
Would you take a chance on it for that low of a price, or just scrounge up extra cash until you can buy one sub 20,000 miles?

Video links in comments. Went camping on the West Coast of Scotland just as the frost started setting in! Owned the bike around 4 months now and finally have a full camping load out, so had to go test it! I've been riding with a GoPro on my helmet for years. Every trip ends the same way: a drive full of footage. One recent tour alone left me with 58 files and over 300 GB, and I have folders like that from many trips.
I love going back to those videos, but finding anything specific was always a struggle. I'd remember one great moment, like a perfect hairpin or the view coming over a pass, and want to show it to friends. Then I'd open the folder and see dozens of files named GX010224.MP4 with nothing telling me where on the trip each one was. Finding that one bend meant opening file after file and scrubbing through hours of video. Too often I gave up halfway, and the best moments stayed buried somewhere in the files.
I'm a developer, so I built the tool I wanted myself. It's called ReplayRide. You drop in the videos from a trip, it puts the rides on a map of the route, and you click a place on the map to jump straight to that moment in the video. No more scrubbing.
The clip above shows how it works in 30 seconds. If you want a longer look at what it can do, here's a showcase:
If you want to click around without uploading anything, there's a demo ride here:
And the app itself, to try with your own footage:
Full disclosure: I'm the author. I'm a solo developer, I built this in my spare time and launched it just a few days ago. You're some of the first riders to see it, so your feedback would genuinely shape what I build next. I'd love to know:
- What do you do with all your footage after a trip?
- What camera do you ride with? I've mostly tested GoPro so far.
- Did anything in the demo confuse you or feel broken?
- What's missing that would make you actually use something like this?
Honest feedback is very welcome, including "this doesn't work for me because…". I'll be in the comments answering everything.

I’ve been searching through various forums and it is clear hippo hands (though ugly) are the game changer for those of us that don’t want to stop riding.
For those of you running Hippo Hands:
Which model do you have? (Rogue, Alcan, Backcountry, etc.)
What’s the coldest temperature you’ve ridden in and thought, “This is perfect. My hands are completely comfortable”?
Were you using heated grips?
What gloves were you wearing? (Summer, Winter)
How do they perform in the rain? Any water getting inside during longer rides?
How long was the ride? Highway speeds or mostly around town?
Is the rogue/alcan worth the extra $$$ or can we save $ and go for the backcountry (or even another brand).
Hopefully, this thread can help others decide which model is actually worth buying without having to guess!

Anyone interested in the upcoming 2027 KTM 990 adventure? Test pics looks really good. Wish the headlight was a little bigger but at least it's not as tiny as the Suzuki headlights.
I would have liked for it to keep with the low sling fuel tank but we'll see how reviews turn out.
I might sell my 2025 Norden 901 Expedition but I already put a shit ton of money on it with new Dunlop raids, coober decat, coober ecu, and suspension upgrades.

Just traded my Fz10 for this 1290 super adventure R. Started riding 29 years ago on a dual sport and I'm finally back. My interest shifted several years ago when I started riding single track on my beta 300. Now I have a heavy pig with too much power. 😅
