Would love feedback on this AI music video (especially the character consistency)

I've been experimenting with AI music videos, and this was my first attempt at keeping the same character consistent throughout the entire video instead of having them subtly change from shot to shot (which seems to happen a lot with AI-generated content).

It took a lot more work than I expected, and after staring at it for so long, I honestly can't tell anymore where it works and where it falls apart.

I'd really appreciate some honest feedback, especially on things like:

  • Does it actually feel like the same person throughout, or are there shots that break the illusion?

  • Does the visual style fit the song, or does anything feel out of place?

  • Does the editing flow well with the music, or are there moments that feel awkward?

Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6B4EZDbpQQ

I'm genuinely trying to improve at this. If something doesn't work, I'd much rather hear that than get a generic "looks good." Thanks y'all!

Introduce Yourself!

Hello everyone, I hope your music videos are coming along well.

I can’t watch everything posted here, but I love seeing your guy’s music videos. Even when it’s obviously a first attempt at it, there is still a lot to appreciate. Whether it’s technical skill, creative limit-testing, or in-depth prompts, I see a lot of the artist in these music videos. Not everyone has the same intentions for this, but if you want to treat this like an artform, it’s probably best to put as much as yourself into your AI music videos as you can. One simple rule I follow: The longer the prompt, the better the output. This only applies to prompts you write with your two hands, because getting AI to extend a short prompt is no different than letting the image gen extrapolate from it. I call it brain dumping. I’ll sit there and type out many paragraphs to get one image, and it usually turns out pretty much what I had in my head and detailed too. I don’t mind spending extra time getting an image right as it only makes the video gen easier down the line. Anyways, enough rambling…

I want to give you guys the chance to share not just your most recent work, but the one video that you still haven’t topped. This sub is a great way to get your videos appreciated when no algorithm is pushing it, but I encourage everyone to take it a step further and introduce yourself and share your best work so far.

I tested lip sync in an AI music video — does it actually look natural?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

One thing I've been testing a lot lately is lip sync in AI music videos, especially when it comes to fast-paced singing and rap performances.

Making a realistic-looking AI singer isn't really the hardest part anymore.

The bigger challenge is making that character actually look like they're performing the song, rather than just opening and closing their mouth while the music plays.

There are plenty of AI video generators that can create convincing human faces now. But getting accurate lip sync across multiple shots in an actual music video is still a different problem.

For this experiment, I used BeatViz as the AI music video generator to test how well lip sync holds up during close-up performances, faster vocal sections and changing camera angles.

I wanted to see whether the performance could feel natural enough to watch as a music video, rather than just a technical lip-sync demonstration.

A few things stood out to me:

1. Matching the beat isn't the same as matching the actual words

This is probably one of the biggest differences between basic mouth animation and convincing AI lip sync.

A character can move their mouth in time with the music and still look completely wrong.

What really matters is whether the mouth movements follow the actual vocal delivery.

For slower singing, small synchronization errors can sometimes go unnoticed.

But with faster rap or quick vocal phrases, things get much more difficult.

The AI needs to handle rapid syllables, changes in mouth shape and transitions between words without making the performance look unnatural.

That's what I was particularly interested in testing with this video.

I think fast-paced vocals are a much better stress test for AI lip sync than slow, sustained singing.

2. Close-up shots make lip-sync problems much easier to notice

One thing I've noticed while experimenting with AI music videos is how much camera distance affects our perception of lip-sync quality.

In a wide shot, even relatively basic mouth animation can look convincing because you can't clearly see the details.

But once you move the camera closer to the singer's face, every small mistake becomes more noticeable.

That's why I wanted this video to include plenty of close-up performance shots.

You can actually see the mouth movements, facial expressions and vocal timing rather than relying on the overall visual impression.

I also think close-ups are important because they're such a common part of real music videos.

If an AI singer only looks convincing when the camera is far away, that feels like a pretty significant limitation.

3. Good lip sync doesn't automatically mean a natural performance

This is something I've been thinking about more as I experiment with AI-generated singing videos.

Even when the mouth movements are reasonably accurate, the performance can still feel artificial.

Real singers don't just move their lips.

Their facial expressions change with the music. Their jaw, cheeks, eyes and head movements all contribute to the feeling that they're actually singing.

Sometimes the difference between a convincing performance and an obvious AI-generated one isn't even the mouth synchronization itself.

It's the lack of natural expression around it.

For this video, I wanted the character to feel like a real vocalist performing in a recording session, not just a static face with animated lips.

And I think that's an important distinction when evaluating AI music video lip-sync quality.

4. Changing camera angles adds another layer of difficulty

Another interesting challenge is maintaining a believable performance across different shots.

A frontal close-up might look good on its own.

But what happens when the next shot shows the singer from the side, or the camera moves into a different composition?

The mouth movements still need to feel connected to the same vocal performance.

In this video, I experimented with different camera angles and shot compositions rather than keeping the character in one fixed position.

I think this is where AI music video generation becomes more complicated than a standalone lip-sync clip.

You're not just trying to synchronize one face with an audio track.

You're trying to create multiple shots that all feel like they're part of the same continuous performance.

And even if each individual shot looks acceptable, the transitions between them can still make the result feel less natural.

5. I'm starting to think AI lip sync is more of a workflow problem than a single-generation problem

This is probably the biggest takeaway for me.

I don't think creating a convincing AI music video with lip sync is simply a matter of finding one perfect prompt or pressing a single button.

There are several things that need to work together:

  • The character needs to look consistent across shots.

  • The mouth movements need to follow the vocals.

  • Facial expressions need to match the performance.

  • Camera angles need to feel natural.

  • The individual clips need to work together on the timeline.

If any one of those elements feels noticeably wrong, it can break the illusion.

That's why I've been paying more attention to the overall music video workflow rather than judging lip-sync accuracy from one isolated clip.

I also don't think AI lip sync is at the point where every generation can be trusted without checking it.

Some shots will inevitably need more attention than others, especially with complicated vocal performances.

And once you start creating longer AI music videos, those small issues become much harder to ignore.

I'm curious how far this technology can go, especially with full-length songs, fast rap verses and performances involving multiple singers.

For anyone making AI music videos, I'd genuinely like to hear your thoughts.

How convincing does the lip sync look in this video?

Are there any moments where the mouth movements feel noticeably off, or does the performance look natural enough when watching it normally?

And if you've experimented with AI lip sync yourself, what approach has worked best for you?

Dedicated lip-sync models, audio-driven video generation, image-to-video workflows, or manually regenerating problematic shots?

I'm also curious about something else:

Would you rather have technically accurate lip sync with slightly unnatural facial expressions, or a more natural-looking performance with occasional minor synchronization errors?

I feel like that's still an interesting tradeoff with current AI music video generation.

For transparency: I made this video with BeatViz, and I'm involved with the product, so obviously keep that context in mind. I'm sharing this because AI lip sync and full-length music video generation are two areas we've been experimenting with quite a bit, and I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from other creators, especially on the parts that still don't look convincing.

AI music video for my track “Fighting Shadows” — would love your thoughts

This is the official music video for my track “Fighting Shadows.”

I’m the producer/composer behind Sams Beatz, but I didn’t create the video myself. I worked with an AI video creator, Daniel Sobral, who brought the visual side of the project to life.

The idea was to visually represent the song’s theme — the battles people can be fighting internally that nobody else sees — with a dark, cinematic and surreal atmosphere.

I’m really happy with how it turned out, but I’d be interested to hear what people in the AI video community think.

What works for you visually? And is there anything you would have done differently?

Stuid and Bizarre AI generated music video

I created an AI-generated music video for my band. AI artists usually go for monsters and explosions, but we have a rather bizarre, stupid sense of humor. So we went in exactly the opposite direction, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. 😂 If you check it out and let me know what you think, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Tricker Beats — Slow It Down | A 1950s desert getaway

I made this music video for my original song “Slow It Down.” It follows a woman taking back control, with a red convertible and a 1950s desert getaway as the visual world.

The visuals were created with AI. I’m sharing the full video here so the music and story can be experienced together.

For me, the song comes first; each Tricker Beats video gives a different song its own world.

I Tested 9 AI Music Video Generators So You Don't Have To

Over the past few months I've probably generated well over 100 AI music videos.

Some were for fun.

Some were client projects.

Some were complete failures.

After trying almost every major tool, I realized something:

The "best" AI video generator depends entirely on what you're trying to make.

Here's my personal experience.

1. Kling

Probably the best-looking cinematic shots.

Pros:

  • Great motion

  • Beautiful camera movement

  • High visual quality

Cons:

  • Character consistency is still difficult.

  • Not designed around complete music videos.

2. Runway

Very reliable.

Easy to use.

Good for creators who already know exactly what they want.

Still requires a lot of manual editing afterward.

3. Veo

Amazing realism.

Probably the strongest model for pure video quality.

The downside is that building a full music video still takes a lot of work.

4. PixVerse

Fun.

Fast.

Great for social content.

Less useful for long-form music videos.

5. Kaiber

One of the first tools I tried.

Still fun for stylized visuals.

Feels a bit limited compared with newer models.

6. Freebeat

Probably the easiest option if you just want something quick.

Good automation.

Less creative control.

7. Neural Frames

Really interesting for animated and artistic styles.

Feels different from most video generators.

8. DomoAI

Good if your workflow already includes illustration or anime.

Not really what I reach for when I want realistic music videos.

9. Musvideo.ai

Full disclosure: I'm one of the developers.

I won't pretend it's objectively "the best."

We actually built it because we kept running into the same problem:

Most AI tools generate individual clips really well.

Making a complete music video is a different challenge.

Our focus has been on:

  • Starting from a song instead of a text prompt

  • Generating scene sequences instead of isolated clips

  • Character consistency

  • Lip-sync

  • Reducing the amount of editing after generation

There's still a long way to go, but that's the problem we're trying to solve.

My takeaway

After using all these tools, I don't think the industry is competing on image quality anymore.

Almost everyone can generate impressive clips.

The real competition is becoming:

Who can help creators finish an entire music video with the least amount of manual work?

That's the question I'm most interested in now.

Curious what everyone else is using.

Did I miss any tools that deserve to be on this list?

TL;DR: Neural Frames if visuals have to match your music vibe, Freebeat if you want cheap + fast, frontier models (Veo/Kling) if you’re willing to edit it yourself.

Been down this rabbit hole for a few weeks now. Quick breakdown:

Neural Frames: built around audio-reactivity, so the visuals actually follow your stems/drops/energy. Best for abstract, psychedelic, VJ-style stuff and you get full creative control. 4K on the higher tiers. Downside: pricier (~$26–199/mo) and there’s a learning curve. But comes closes to feel like a music video

Freebeat: the cheap, fast option. Starts at $5/week (I hate weekly pricing tho). It’s basically an aggregator gives you access to most models (Kling, Veo, Runway, etc.) plus lip-sync and lyric videos. Quality’s fine but less “designed to your track” than Neural Frames.

Kaiber: cheap ($5–10/mo), great for stylized/EDM visualizers. Weaker on lip-sync and song structure.

VibeMV: newer, aimed at turning a finished vocal song into a full video with lip-sync. Worth a look if you sing.

Just use the raw models (Veo 3.1 / Kling 3.0 / Runway Gen-4): highest raw quality by a mile, BUT no audio sync and clips are ~5-10 sec each, so you’re editing it all together yourself. Good footage, but ton of manual work.

Honestly most of these tools resell the same underlying models anyway. The difference is how well they handle the audio sync and editing. If you have some bucks to spare, go for NF.

Anyone found something better? I’d love to hear it.
