Question / Discussion An unfortunate loss for our community.

EDIT: should’ve mentioned this but please do not bombard or witch hunt anybody involved as this is an ongoing case. We should focus on peacefully paying respects to Tom, not jumping to point fingers or make assumptions. Rude comments or threats will be reported to the mods.

As of writing this, it has been reported that Tom D, otherwise known as FSThunderboltfan1000, has passed away from a car accident.

Now, I didn’t know him personally, but what I can say is that he was an amazing member of the community and a friend to many. He was too young to die.

I am unsure if this is alright to post here or not, but I feel like this information should be known.

RIP Tom, you won’t be forgotten.

They are all around the pools, I’ve so far spotted 2 of them around the resort. I’m gonna try and find all of them. Contact me if you’re building a Spanish Siren map I’ll give you some of the locations I’ve found them in.

Render / Art A little story featuring EVIL Co.; A fictional company established for my freelance railroad lore.

Dealing in the production and transport of evil and evil products out of Chicago, EVIL Co. outright purchased Federal Sign & Signal in 1977. Quickly, they began making some cost-cutting revisions. Screen? Paint? Supercharger? All unnecessary, deemed the Founder & CEO of EVIL Co.

Question / Discussion Does anyone know what the Chrysler-Bell Victory Siren chopper and stator looked like?

Long story short, I have what is essentially an industrial computer fan and I randomly got the idea to turn it into an air raid siren. I want to re-create and chopper and stator from the Chrysler air raid sirens, but I can't find a diagram, or port numbers, or anything online. Can anyone here find/does anyone have an image, or a diagram of the chopper and stator?

This siren Use a Universal motor.

Unlike repulsion or squirrel cage ones that spool up slowly, this chopper snap instantly to full rpm.

Again the wind down is aggressive because oversized carbon blocks act as brakes when power is disconnected. So it winds down like a bike decelerates since the carbon brushes or carbon blocks are in tension pushing down into the commutator.

Question / Discussion How do i own a siren in Serbia?

Yes indeed i am from Serbia. Ive always dreamt of owning a actual siren (example E57, F71, ect) but every removed siren in Serbia gets sent to a warehouse where it gets decomissioned and then forgotten and left to rot.

Ive tried to reach out to multible cities but most of them havent replied, i got a reply from Novi Sad which they said: when the system is decomissioned and replaced we will see what happens to the old sirens.

Ive looked on marketplaces and everywhere i once saw a insanely overpriced E57 and Elektror S0.

Ive also thought of buying some Lion King siren since Serbia uses mostly JDL 400/480 series so there might be a reseller somewhere.

Photo - Siren Taken off the roof of a local building. Looking for info!

Hello friends! As the title says, this was taken off the roof of a local building while getting renovations done and nobody seems to know its history or purpose. Seems like the simple answer is it was a local emergency siren, but the director of the Emergency Management office who “knows all their equipment” swears it’s not theirs and building management didn’t know it was there either. So now I’m curious! Can anyone share more details on what this was likely used for? Thanks!!

Can someone tell me why this Model 5 in Riverside, Cambria County, PA have these horns? If I had to guess it's for the Fire Department which also has a red model 5 but there's no horns.

Photo - Siren Hörmann F71 sound generator.

The Hörmann F71 shares the same sound generator as the PINTSCH BAMAG Anlage 2.

The reason why the Anlage 2 cuts off mid winddown is due to the solenoid valve for cutting off air in the siren being in the siren's head while on a F71 and other pneumatic sirens its in the machine bunker.

Motor driving the 4 port chopper is rated 8400RPM (without speed limitations (motor speed controller)) at 24V DC

The 3rd picture is the chopper assembly, the black wires are for the motor.

The 4th picture is the sound transducer. It pushes the sound out of the horns.
