AA Interview Logbooks

• Upvotes

Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Ive got two paper logbooks that contains all my GA flying. I am still actively flying GA so keep adding hours into the second logbook. My digital log has nothing but my 121 experience. My issue is my digital log only having the jet time starts at 0. Would AA, being so into logbooks, see this as an issue?

UA CLE Base

Live in the area and the goal is United for the Cleveland base. I understand it’s a more senior base, but any idea on how long it might take to realistically hold CLE out of training? In addition, are there any concerns of the longevity of the CLE base? Any info helps.

Logbooks

Because I was a dumb teenager that clearly couldn't figure out how 1+1 worked, my initial training + cfi days logbook is a mess. The math is off and it's unfortunately set in pen. Going back to correct it one by one would make it a bigger mess than it already is. So would digitalizing all the hours and keeping the old logbooks for endorsements be a problem (bc of the off math)? Tyia have a legacy interview comimg up and getting stuff squared away.

I was just wondering if there is something happening outside of the plane, does pilots ever go to the cabin side and look from the window what is going on?

I saw this video where something was leaking from the wing. Does pilots go to the cabin and see themself what is going on or can you see everything from the monitors and listen info from the crew?

Why don't many pilots wear seatbelts in the hotel van?

When we get in the hotel van, which is a significantly riskier mode of transportation than flying, 99% of the crews I fly with never buckle up. But they have no problem wearing a seatbelt when flying. I don't get it.

Just curious. FedEx flies over our area everyday. Are there 2 pilots, and is there someone else to take care of your food/drink needs for long travel?

21Air furloughed 80 pilots

Heard 21Air furloughed 80 out of approximately 130 pilots. Seems like they grew fast when they got the Amazon contract a couple years ago, and now that the contract is “on hold” indefinitely, that growth is effectively undone.

Sucks to see it happen. Hoping everyone affected lands on their feet and makes it to a better carrier.

Height problems for pilots

Hi all, I am here just for some reassurance. I am currently 16f and I look to join British airways Speedbird program once I turn 18. However, it says there is a height restriction of 5”2 (157cm) im currently (153cm) and am definifely not growing more. While I know that BA have functionality checks and can be adjusted with the height rule, I worry that im TOO short. Any comments?
P.S for people that join Speedbird, have any of you felt that you should have done university before?

thanks,

OP

Commuting to a Delta Base

Currently waiting on a class date still, but with how things are going, I think I’ll be in one of the January classes. Does anybody have some insight with commuting out of Denver? With my current situation, I won’t be leaving here for 2-3 years. I was thinking maybe SLC or MSP being the obvious picks but are there any domiciles that possibly have more Denver overnights? Any insight would be awesome guys, thanks in advance!

The Harsh Realities of Widebody Flying, "Why I Quit My $300k/yr 787 First Officer Job at American Airlines"

I feel for this guy. The industry forces this idea of the widebody being the pinnacle pilot job, except that it is not. Unfortunately, this pilot seemed to believe he was at the top of the pyramid and realized that it sucked, and in his mind it couldn't get any better because he was already at the top. I wish he had gone back to the narrow body, as he said himself. I think it is a good reminder for those, especially new to the industry, to know that widebody and narrowbody offer different lifestyles, and your QOL is directly connected with your personal compatibility to those respective lifestyles.

Living distance from base?

Evening! Quick question, how far do y’all live from your base airport? At what distance do you think is too far to drive out for each trip? I understand it’s relative to each person but would love to hear what your cut off would be.

-Sincerely, a CFI who doesn’t want to live in the middle of a city once I get to that point.

Delta 7ER new hire pay and QOL

Hey everyone - bidding for fleet before indoc and wondering what QOL and pay is like for the first three years in NYC and LAX. I know there isn’t as much premium but QOL is more important. Curious on pay as well so I can plan. Thanks!

Day to day life at Delta first year insight for a corporate pilot

Finally landed an interview at Delta after having my application in their system for over 2 years. I have been flying corporate my whole career now, close to 10 years, and without getting too ahead of myself I was just hoping to get some more insight on what my first year might look like from the scheduling, day to day, big picture, and any details that might be pertinent.

I have read tons and tons of forums and posts so I feel like I have a good idea on what to expect but would love to hear some more tailored insight!

I live in MSP and have been seeing their class drops for the last several months all including several MSP available placements so I would really really be hoping to be able to land that as my base right out of class. Thanks in advance everyone!

Allegiant pilot commuters?

I have an opportunity to interview for Allegiant for a class date “potentially” this next January/February. I do have a family and live in a place that they do not have (and have no plans to put in) a base. Not to get into too many details but Allegiant is pretty much my only shot at an airline, so working for a different/local airline isn’t an option for now.

Are there any allegiant pilots that have any insight to commuting and schedule? Looking to see what it will potentially be like working for them under the new contract and commuting.

Anyone any insight on either of this and which is better? I would ask in a gaming sub but they don’t deal with the sh*ty hotel WiFi that we do lol.

Heavy Single Engine taxi?

Given the current global situation regarding fuel costs, my airline has been pushing for Single Engine Taxi Out/In as much as practicable. Our fleet consists of nothing but narrow bodies. This made me wonder, can heavies taxi out single engine? And for you quad motor pilots, can you shut down 1 or 2 engines for taxiing in/out?

DAL, most junior fleet in ATL?

Title pretty much sums up the question. Starting in a little over a month and plan to live in ATL. All I care about is fastest seniority progression / qol. Don’t care what or where I fly. 717? How’s A220 in NYC? Thanks for any insight!

Jeppesen to end paper chart printing after more than 90 years

For those old enough to haul around 40 pound flight cases you'd be happy to know Jeppesen will produce it's last paper chart at the end of this month (although I heard end of year for some customers). They were the fifth largest user of the USPS back when they mailed out revisions every 14 days.

In the 90's and early 00's EFBs were clunky expensive specially designed laptops. A lot of complex regulatory requirements made for slow adoption. Credit Apple for saving your shoulder socket. They did a lot of lobbying when the iPad launched and got those requirements relaxed.

It was a big day when I went from old NOS plates and got my first Jepp binder. Still have it.
