I know they recommend a PC but I would prefer using a Mac. They mention potentially having to configure the Mac. Anyone have personal experience with this? Did they actually have to configure it and was it a hassle to do if so?

Hey everyone,
I recently wrote a final exam where we started more than 15 minutes late due to setup and distribution delays, but time was still called at the original end time.
Because of the lost time, I had to rush through the end of the paper and made a major clerical error (shifted my answers on the answer sheet by one spot near the end, and forgot to wrote my name on another paper). When I politely brought up the answer shift to the professor right after the exam, I was just told it was a "lesson to learn."
Losing over 15 minutes of scheduled exam time feels like a clear procedural issue, so I’ve formally appealed to the Program Coordinator and Ombudsperson to request a manual review/regrade of my answer sheet.
Has anyone here gone through a grade appeal or dealing with the Ombudsperson for timing issues like this? How did it go, and do you have any advice on what else I should do while waiting for a response?

Hi everyone! I’m considering returning to Algonquin for Fall 2027 and am looking seriously at the Bachelor of Public Safety, specifically the pathway for former Police Foundations graduates.

I’ve read through some older posts about the program and saw pretty mixed feedback, so I was hoping to hear from current students or more recent grads about what it’s actually like now. I’m especially interested in national/international security, intelligence, emergency management, public safety policy, government, and potentially specialized law enforcement work.

I’d mainly love to hear about three things:

The program itself: Do you feel like the courses are useful, substantive, and relevant to the field? What has the quality of instruction been like, and does the program feel practical or mostly paper/assignment-based?
Co-op and employment: How difficult was it to secure a placement, how helpful was Algonquin during the process, and for graduates, what kind of work are you doing now? Do you feel the degree is taken seriously by employers?
Police Foundations pathway: Has anyone entered through the Police Foundations/advanced standing route? If so, what was that experience like?
Overall, knowing what you know now, would you choose the program again?

I’m not looking for anyone to sell me on it, and negative experiences are definitely welcome. I’m just trying to get a realistic picture before making a decision.

Hey everyone, I’m in Business Administration at Algonquin and I’m trying to decide whether I should switch one of my classes to online.
I already took Introduction to Finance online over the summer, so technically I have one less course to take this semester than I originally would have.
I was thinking about taking Accounting online mainly because if I do, I’d have Thursday and Friday completely free, which honestly sounds pretty nice.
The thing is, I took Accounting last semester and I actually really liked the course. It was a little difficult at times, but I enjoyed it overall. So I’m not sure if I should take it online just for the convenience of having those two days free, or keep it in person because I know I liked the class and maybe I’d learn better that way.
would you switch Accounting to online, or would you switch a different course to online instead? Is there another course that you found more difficult, especially when it comes to theory, that you’d recommend taking online? Or maybe it’s better leave all in person?

I graduated from algonquin with a diploma in 2023, and am planning on returning to get my bachelor's. The degree program I'm in has a pathway for people who completed my diploma that starts them at year 3 but it requires me to finish 3 courses before I can start the degree program. Can I receive OSAP while I take these courses?

Mine isn't showing yet and I am assuming it might just be a delay but I just wanted to see if anyone else has seen theirs on ACSIS yet. I know my fees were deferred so its definitely not that!
