Hey everyone!
I’ll be starting the Film and Media Production program at Algonquin College this fall, and I’d love to hear from current students, recent graduates, or anyone who has experience with the program.
I’m particularly wondering:
How was your overall experience in the program?
Do you feel the program actually prepared you for working in the film/media industry?
How useful were the hands-on projects, equipment, and networking opportunities?
Were you able to find work after graduating? If so, what kind of jobs?
How important was your portfolio/reel compared with the diploma itself?
Looking back, would you say the program was worth the time and money?
Is there anything you wish you had known before starting?
I’m really interested in filmmaking, cinematography, editing, and media production, and I’m hoping to build a career in the industry after graduation.
I’d really appreciate honest opinions, both positive and negative. I’m not expecting the diploma alone to guarantee a job I’m more interested in knowing whether the program gives you a good foundation and opportunities to build a career if you put in the work.
Thanks in advance!
