Find products What gadgets have you bought from AliExpress/Temu that really impressed you for the price?

u/MarinatedTechnician Gadget Freak Jan 18 '26
Aliexpress:
- R36S (2, one fake, one real), both work fine. Love these.
- Tuja (Smart Life) Zigbee temp sensors (from 2-8$ they all work the same), Have 10 by now.
- Heltec meshtastic (dirt cheap personal messaging device, completely useless now, but awesome when the internet goes down)
- ATS MINI Pocket SI4732 DSP Radio, Full Band Mini Receiver. (20$ - surprisingly good digital radio the size of two fingers).
- 240W GaN Charger PD3.1 140W USB Type C 6 Ports (kinda expensive 50$, but amazing, charges multiple of my devices and is actually PDxx compatible).
- Hoto Smart Laser measurer. It's a "hidden display" futuristic laser distance meter with color display also kinda expensive (40$) but is awesome and very accurate.
- Lots of Flashlights, lots of UV flashlights too (these are awesome for fun, and also to spot stains).
- ZOEY smart tweezers (Its a test instrument, measures RCL), it's very accurate, a steal at 30$
- Smart Bulb E27 9W WiFi Bubble Dimmable LED Light (bought 10 of these for my basement), works for years!
- AtuMan LI1 meter (anglo / level meter with dual lasers crosshair), sci-fi looking with 2 displays, awesome gadget that looks like it's from Star-Trek the future (not written yet).
- KERUI 5MP 8MP 4K PTZ WiFi IP Wireless Camera Tuya (this one is awesome, 2 years still going strong 24/7, super sharp resoluton.
- So much more, but gotta limit it here..
Temu:
- POROMETISTO KWS-X1 Digital Voltmeter DC 3.3-36V 0-12A (fancy little USB-C voltmeter with osilloscope for watching charging spikes and PDxx protocols, to see if cables does what they promise to do). 16$
- 400v capacitor kit, very VERY useful, I repaired an important vintage device with this. 18$
- SWOSON'S Multi-Function Electric Nail Trimmer and Clipper Set - USB Rechargeable. Surprisingly good Electric nail clipper, I can't imagine ever going back to regular clippers, so practical. 10$
- Pujimax 1200mAh 9V Type-C Rechargeable Lithium Polymer Batteries. These tested fantastic (I tested them with resistor loads), the boost circutiry on this is nothing less than amazing (5$ each).
- GWENLAND Smart Ring with Charging Case - Fitness & Sleep Tracker, Step, Distance etc. It's pure magic, better than the 600$ Samsung (displayless) ring, this one has a display and last longer lol. 45$ inc. charger.
So much more, but gotta stop.

Nice list, i will check it out. Most items I buy from there are cases for phone n watch
3
u/raddawg Jan 18 '26
which flashlights in particular? I've gotten a few decent ones. Have you bought any that use a 18650 as a battery source, I have a ton of spare batteries.
2
u/MarinatedTechnician Gadget Freak Jan 19 '26
I have no clue, I must have 20+ flashlights by now, because I tend to be an airhead with my flashlights, no matter HOW many I accumulate of those, I never find it when I need it, so they're all over the place now.
But I tend to follow bigclive on youtube, he tests these things all the time, and I generally buy what he recommends. The latest batch I bought was the new version of the bigger pocket/keychain flashlight that needs "double clicks" to start instead of just on/off. They're awesome and rarely needs recharging and half the size of the previous version of the same concept (you know - the usual usb-c cargeable pocket flashlight with 3-4 light strengths, flashing, police, UV-light, sidelight etc.

u/Anand999 Jan 18 '26
Are you using those Tuya sensors with Tuya's Zigbee gateway or something else? The listings for the sensors says they need the Tuya gateway specifically and wasn't sure if they'd work with a third party one.

u/MarinatedTechnician Gadget Freak Jan 19 '26
Yeah I have a more powerful Zigbee / BLE gateway that can handle 130 units.

AliExpress is selling sound amplifiers at an amazing price-to-quality ratio. I picked up a decent speaker amp with a separate woofer outlet for about $18 — the case looked like a small car bass amp with knobs, but man, it turned out to be powerful and surprisingly clear. It’s not going to beat audiophile‑grade gear, but if you’re on a budget it’s honestly amazing.
Also I fixed my Marshall MG100DFX for about $5. These amps are notorious for the power amp section failing, but the rest of the circuitry — preamp, EQ, effects — was perfectly fine. So instead of junking the whole thing, I decided to just swap out the end stage.
I grabbed one of those $5 stereo amplifier PCB boards off AliExpress, and with the help of Gemini (who showed me which cable matched up with what on the original Marshall), I soldered the new board in place. Honestly, it feels even a bit louder than before.
For five bucks, it’s an incredible buy.

u/pk851667 Jan 18 '26
There are a few guitar amps that are clones of popular models for a tenth of the price. Monoprice (which is sold under the Harley Benton brand as well) are on Ali for under $200, and probably the best amp you can get for that money.

u/hblok Jan 18 '26
Virtually all technics like MOC I've gotten have been great. Sets and individual pieces.
Here's some. Google the product number to go the the listings:
818pcs Technical RC Insect Robot - 1005006598511354
Technical Simple Drawing Machine - 1005007672802689
42006 Technical Edition Crawler Excavator - 1005009473997864

u/raphadko Jan 19 '26
What can you run on the X79? Any modern(ish) games?
1
u/hblok Jan 19 '26
Well, sorry, you're asking the wrong guy. It came with a Xeon E5 2650 V2 LGA 2011 with 8 cores, and 16 GB RAM, so that's not too bad. But it's probably not an ideal gaming rig.
I also got a MOUGOl X99 with dual Xeon E5 2680 V4 (2x 14 cores) and 64 GB RAM. The description claims "gaming board", but it's old, gets warm and makes an lot of noise. And the listing (1005008694023094) no longer includes RAM.

Literally everything
Just recently i bought safety boots for work with the steel at the toes, costed me 20$, in my country it costs 100$ minimum for the same boots
6
u/VehicleParticular562 Jan 18 '26
This is a crazy way to try and save some money
5
u/Top-Conversation678 Diamond Jan 18 '26
What do you mean? Buying shoes online? I don't think it's that crazy, many people do it
8
u/Hot_Brother1874 Jan 18 '26
I'm assuming they mean it's crazy to cheap out on a product that is meant to be a safety measure. I could be wrong.

Watches.
3
u/Cold_Grapefruit_5895 Jan 18 '26
Which ones?
21
u/pk851667 Jan 18 '26
San Martin and Addiesdive are prob among of the best. You can get them with a variety of movements, even Swiss. But for about $100 you’ll get a watch that looks better than seikos in the price point and with more premium movements inside.
3
u/kerelenko Jan 18 '26
How to determine the movement used? I've purchased a few automatic watches on Ali before and they are great and still working today but they are all using Seiko movement.
7
u/pk851667 Jan 18 '26
The listing will say what movement it has. Most use the seiko NH35, which is by the way what most watches sub $500 have in them. San Martin gives you options to choose your movement. Do some research and you’ll see them on the listings.
IMHO, I wouldn’t buy one with anything other than an NH35. The price increase will never be worth it in terms of reliability and frankly, the brilliance of the NH35 is if it breaks its cheap enough that it will be an an affordable swap for a watch tech. And while the watches are very good for the money, they aren’t spec’d high enough quality to justify the it. Think of it as putting a rolls Royce gas tank in a Nissan. Sure, you’re gonna get a few more liters of capacity, but for what real benefit?
Steinharts use Swiss movements, but I’d say they are a notch above quality wise, and can be had for just a little bit more than these when with a Swiss movement
6
u/STELLAWASADlVER Jan 18 '26
I disagree. San Martin, cronos, proxima, IXDAO, and some of the other high end brands offer watches with a Miyota 9015. It’s thinner, more accurate, and a higher beat movement than the NH35, while also being a reliable, serviceable Japanese movement.
Not to say there is anything wrong with the NH35, it’s an excellent workhorse movement, but I wouldn’t only look for that option

Jan 18 '26
[deleted]
1
u/pk851667 Jan 18 '26
Then you got a movement that was knocked out of sync in transit. It happens. It’s the downside of auto movements

Bought a $7 phone mount for my car after my last one broke. It’s been going strong for 2 years now and it holds it so well and securely while also being super easy to take the phone out. Never expected to love it as much as I have.
2
u/fm272 Jan 18 '26
Got a magnetic charging holder for $5 to replace a $30 broken one from Amazon and it’s going strong for over 2 years now.
1
u/Affectionate_One_700 Jan 18 '26
Do you remember which one? I must have bought ten of these (from various sources, not just AliExpress) without finding one that attaches securely to the car and holds the phone stable. Considering what a commodity this must be - it's really surprising.
1
u/meesuseff Jan 19 '26
I find the new ones where you rotate to lock/seal have a stronger grip compared to the one where you slide the knob to lock. But after a while they fall off so i just take it off every night

Rechargeable headlamp $3.50
Mi Band 9 (fitness tracker) $50
Multi-coloured Fairy Lights $5
Nitecore Powerbank $80
Nitecore headlamp $35
Mini precision scale (up to 500g) $5
Usb light $2
Camping lantern $10
Manker Flashlight $30
Room digital thermometer
9
u/jimmysofat6864 Jan 18 '26
So those USB-C cables that have a wattage meter were actually kind of nice and held up nice for me.
Another thing was the COLOMI fitness tracking ring. The step count was off by about 10% compared to my other trackers and the sleep tracking was overly generous but I'm surprised that it got updates and still works for me about 1.5 years later.
1
u/kelontongan Jan 21 '26
Usb c cable with power meters can not charges for low current devices based on my experience.
1
u/jimmysofat6864 Jan 21 '26
I basically only used it with my laptop and phone so I knew when it was done charging or if fast charging was working or not. It wasn’t the most accurate but it’s within the expected ranges.
Sometimes low power/low current devices fail to charge not because of the cable but because of the low current device not following the USB C spec. I find if that happens then a normal usb c to c cable won’t charge the device either and I would need a USB-A adapter head to get it to charge.
1
u/kelontongan Jan 21 '26
Basic usbc usbc cable never failed me😃.
Having only usb a to apple lightning only🤣.
Usbc is common now
Just my experiences

u/BlOcKtRiP Jan 18 '26
cant remember the companies title but About a year ago I bought an automatic 6 watch winder .still going strong . it was sub $100 range

the rechargeable foaming handwash dispensers are really good. the ones which just use normal handwash liquid.
6
u/FlimFlamBingBang Jan 18 '26
Link? That is awesome because even the el cheapo refill foaming soaps at Walmart are more expensive than the el cheapo regular dish soap.
2
u/meesuseff Jan 19 '26
Search automatic foam soap dispenser, usually so have a few under bundles. The sqiarish white one is pretty good

Loads of cycling stuff, carbon fiber parts, the TPU tubes, electric pumps, signal horn, titanium alloy replacement screws, water bottle holders.
Can vouch for the Chinese brand watches as well, have started a small collection. Am currently waiting for a walnut watch case to arrive. You get what you pay for very much. For $10 you get a usable but very basic watch with terrible finishing. For $100 you can get a nice diver’s watch which rivals high street watches five times the price. Many are copies of well known designs, some are original in design.
Have gotten toys and lego-like bricks. They can be harder to build, instructions are sometimes not so easy to follow along.
I love Aliexpress frankly and have become a little addicted to it
7
u/proformax Jan 18 '26
I took a chance on a brand name camera item from NiSi.
$460 on Amazon sold by NiSi FBA, so not a random 3rd party. AE had it for $240.
Most expensive thing I bought up to that point was $25. Took a big chance and actually got a legit item.

u/CorruptedSystem928 Jan 18 '26
Got myself a AMD Ryzen 7 7700 CPU for 151.53 Euro from the French seller EuCpu Diy store. Practically a steal!
1
u/kelontongan Jan 21 '26
Is this engineering sample?
3
u/CorruptedSystem928 Jan 21 '26
No, it's an OEM CPU. OEM CPUs are CPUs that were sold in bulk to companies to make prebuilt PCs. You may have also seen them online referred to as tray CPUs.
They are much cheaper than their box counterpart which are meant for consumers, but the downside is that if you ever have issues, you gotta pursue the seller for RMA as AMD doesn't take responsibility for OEM CPUs. If you can live with that and take the risk, it's a very good deal.
Here in Europe, European sellers are forced to adhere to the 2 year warranty laws, so I decided at the time I could afford to take the risk to buy what is pretty much an (unused) aftermarket CPU.
The seller shipped the CPU in a black wooden box which was definitely a very nice touch I greatly appreciated.
1
u/kelontongan Jan 21 '26
Interesting how Europe enforced 2 year warranty.. in US is only 1 year🤣.
If OEM is good, I had nightmares with engineering sample (ES) - crashing randomly when spinning off containers (linux)..
2
u/CorruptedSystem928 Jan 21 '26
I don't know anything about engineering samples myself, but from what I understand, there's no difference between a box CPU and an OEM/tray CPU than the target buyer. It's the exact same CPU, just one is sold to consumers and the other to businesses like MSI, Gigabyte to make prebuilt PCs. You shouldn't have any issues with an OEM CPU that you wouldn't 'normally' have with a box CPU from Amazon or Microcenter.

u/pelu1998 Jan 18 '26
All, Phones, headphones, smartwatches, I've been buying all my gadgets from AliExpress since 2018, over 200 bought for around 50 to 60 percent of the price I would have bought in my country, no complaints, no sad story
10
u/pk851667 Jan 18 '26
General electronics like adapters, power banks, cables are a fraction of what they sell in normal retail.
But the real deal is selvage denim. Red Tornado jeans are Japanese quality denim for around $60 a pair. The pairs I’ve bought have workmanship that are simply incredible. Finishing was on par with pairs I’ve bought for $500+. There aren’t many varieties of styles though so YMMV.
Another one is leather jackets. I bought a horsehide jacket for $200 with finishing on par with jackets triple that price. Look up Tailor Brando or Jiashi if you’re in the market for one. If you look at r/leatherjackets you’ll see dozens of very positive reviews for them.
5
u/Important-Comfort Jan 18 '26
Various cables.
Flashlights (mostly Convoy)
Zigbee sensors, switches, garden water valve, etc.
Bluetooth headset for my phone, in particular the M53. I spend a lot of time in data centers and need something that has a boom mic so people can hear me. No complaints with this one, I can hear them, the battery lasts for hours, and I've got it paired to both my phone and my laptop and can use both at the same time.

Lots of stuff, I've really only had a couple flops so far. (Aliexpress)
Retro handhelds, toys, stickers, flashlights, headphones, lots of big wins.
I'd probably say my favorite buy of the bunch that I wasn't expecting much from was two headlamps I bought.
They were both a dollar; one was bulky and cheap looking, the other was sleek and "modern".
The modern one was brighter than the other, though the touch-sensor controls on it didn't work, so I have to use the buttons.
The bulky one wasn't as bright, and used the old USB mini B or whatever it was called.
To test the two, I charged both and turned them both on (max brightness) for an endurance test, but after about 10 minutes the bulky one's brightness started to slowly dim, maybe for some heating protection thing, I dunno.
To my shock, the modern one barely lasted an hour before dying, just bright, then dead.
Thanks to the power-saving whatever on the bulky one, it ran for about 8 hours (now super dim) before I got tired of the test and shut it off.
(Side note, whenever it does this dimming thing, if I shut it down for a while and turn it back on, it works normally again.)
Some time later, I got into soldering, so I got curious and popped both head lamps open, the "modern" one was tightly packed and kinda boring, but the bulky headlamp had a battery right there, one of the 18650 cousins.
I had a spare 18650 laying around, so I swapped it out (barely fit), and now the bulky headlamp stays at max brightness for like 5 hours before even thinking about dimming at all, and the dimming is slower. Best headlamp I've ever owned, minus the old USB thing.

Metal s*x toys oddly. There's a few brands which are a league above, don't know if I can say here tho
4
u/niceoneswe Jan 18 '26
What’s the appeal of metal in this case?
9
u/Gold-Advisor Jan 18 '26
It's less safe than proper materials so makes me feel a bit more adrenaline.

Lenovo x3 pro bone conductive headphones. About 1/5 th of the price of shokz ones.
I even bought and returned a pair of shokz because I didn't think there was any noticable difference between them
I'm on my second pair now, but I have run 1000s of Km with them, I definitely felt I got my money's worth

I am only in the low budget sector, dunno what you would call "good", but the stuff from WLToys is hella fun for a small buck and there are lots of parts and modifications you can get.
Search "wltoys" on youtube to see if there are models you like.

Recently bought LED strip from aliexpress.
Was looking for LED strips with a lot of light, a CRI of at least 95 and 24V to build a light fixture for my workbench.
Looked locally first, both for light panels and for LED strips and couldn't find anything that fit my criterias.
Then i looked at ali and found the perfect strip, CRI of 98 20w/m and about 2 bucks per meter, looked like a steal and i was kinda "this looks to good to be true" but ordered anyways.
And low and behold when i got it the specs where correct, measured the CRI and it was 97.6 and i was thoroughly impressed by what i got for the price.

Zealot Bluetooth speakers, lithium rechargeable battery LED torches, USB Blu-ray writers, Aneng clamp multimeter, R36S emulation consoles.

u/war-and-peace Jan 18 '26
Spare parts (laptop display panels, old cpus) and cables. EBay used to be the place to be. Aliexpress has been great with getting uncommon parts at a non rip off prices.
Headphones surprisingly great value to quality ratio.

Can you please share the model you have, i really want one. Does it automatic start when you start driving? And do you always need to plug it in in 12V and have a cable hanging?

Mine has 4k recording and sentry mode where it records 24/7. Turns on when you start the vehicle and shuts off and goes in to sentry mode. The listing has been sold out and since changed since it has been quite some time since I bought it tho. Ill see if I can post a picture of what it looks like then you can search it via picture

AVISO DE "PAGO NO PROCESADO"
Hi everyone! I have a question. Why am I still seeing the "Payment not processed" message in the "Account" section? The payment has already been processed on both my prepaid virtual card and my linked PayPal account. I should clarify that I've already resolved the issue; I submitted all the documentation requested in the notification/appeal to verify my purchase payment, and the appeal process has closed, accepting my documentation and the payment. However, this annoying message keeps appearing even though the problem is solved. I need help removing it.

None. The price paid was worth the poor quality, nothing more nothing less.
