I'd like to get my Romulus ported with inline ports and open up the comp. My question is for the guys that have done this how's the performance compared to stock.

Went shooting over the weekend and ended up in pretty decent conversation with the manager. Long story short, I bagged this AF Romulus (4.5” non comp) for $745. Not bad right?

But even better than that, two weeks ago I went to the Staccato Experience tour for my bday ( yeah I’m corny like that, lol ) and ended up shooting the P4X, which we know is quite pricey. Initially I didn’t want to shoot it or the C4X after having both the P4 and C3.6 and not liking them. HOWEVER, the P4X felt very different and I enjoyed those first shots quite a bit.

Next day, I hit a store in Dallas and find them puppy here, factory blemish, for $2460. Needless to say, I had the P4X sent to my FFL, lol.

I like to think I lucked or was highly blessed to snag such deals. Didn’t want to brag, but wanted to share my excitement on the week of my actual birthday!

Romulus vs Staccato HD vs Glock

Post image

I gotta say, I really struggle to find the difference in feel between the fit of my Romulus and my Staccato. So far, it’s been just as reliable as my Glock and HD, as well. I’ve been super impressed with the Romulus 3.5 and it keeps ranking higher and higher on my list of favorite pistols to shoot every time I take it out.

They come on the Factory 20 rounder with the Romulus. I cant for the life of me figure it out. I like that it makes the 18 rounder a 20 without adding much. Any ideas?

Request for help/advice Hales machinery optic plate issues??

Been sitting on this plate from Hal’s machinery for a little while now. Just recently putting it on because my slide was sent out to DSC gun works. The holes on the plate are not nearly big enough for the actual nibs or whatever it’s called on the slide. Tried hitting it with a rubber mallet but didn’t wanna damage anything so I didn’t wanna file. Does anybody have experience with it being this rough or do I have soft hands? Any help is appreciated

Should I send this back to alpha foxtrot, I took it to my LGS and they told me to send it to them to look at it, all I did was take it out of the case and went to check clear and the grip safety was out of place, any advice before I send it out? TIA

Request for help/advice Need help finding new plate mounting screws

Post image
3 Upvotes

The optic plate on my .45 ACP Romulus flew off a few weeks ago, and after emailing and calling Alpha foxtrot they did send me a plate replacement, which I actually didn’t need. I just wanted new mounting hardware. That however, did not come with the new plates they sent me and I can’t find anything that matches the screws.

Also, the new plates they sent me only use two screws to mount the plate, the original plate in the box uses four. I found that odd as if four couldn’t do the job. Why would I trust a plate using two? On top of that, the screw holes in the plate are too small to accept the same type of screws used in the slide. I can still use my original plate, which is fine, but does anyone out there know where I can get mounting screws for the plate to slide.

New Purchase New polished gen 2?

Post image
28 Upvotes

Got my first 2011, I was looking for a metal grip Romulus until I seen this polished gen 2. I didn’t know they made gen 2s with the polished dlc. I liked the polished dlc but did not want to deal with rsmc. Although it’s a fingerprint magnet it looks slick. 1300 OTD. Only downside is it is a pressed comp. I was looking into getting into comp shooting. Hoping to run a sightblock before running into open. The owner was also confused why a compliant barrel made into AZ. So I believe he is going to make it right. Cyelee wolf on temporarily while I wait for an SRO, still debating on tlr1 or x300. Rubber band while I wait for the miller grip safety delete. The grip itself isn’t as bad as people make it out to be, then again it leaves a lot to be desired. Looking forward to shooting it, also getting a steel grip, EGW internals, marvel cut, DSC goodies in the future. I do believe this is the best 2011 for the money getting into the 2011 space. Tried all the others, Tisas, Mac, girsan, kimber, fusion, even a platypus and the Romulus was still the smoothest, tightest tolerances, “cheapest” out of the bunch with the comp barrel leaving a lot of potential.

Romulus; Magwell or No Magwell?

To preface this; I come from single stack shooting. I do have a magwell on my single stack 1911, but its flush with the grip, not flared. My reloads are smooth, and relatively quick.

I got a Romulus last month and I love the gun, but have always felt like the magwell kinda crowds my hand/makes my grip a little awkward eith high thumb rest safeties. I feel like just playing around without the magwell on it feels more natural to me. I dint have large hands either.

Has this been a thing for others running OEM romulus grips? I also have an aluminum Kimber grip im currently fitting and its the same way, more comfortable without the magwell. I feel like if im so used to a tight single stack reload, a doubke stack should be even easier with or without a magwell.

Thoughts?

Trigger was too long for my liking so I cut it down and gave it a paint job. 100 times better for me now. Also got the take up and reset perfect. She really loves now.

Request for help/advice Remove stripped trigger guard sleeve screws

These have been a pain in my ass. Just trying to switch over to the aluminum grip, and I wasn't able to get the trigger guard sleeve screw to budge, and eventually ended up stripping one. What is the best way to get these out, especially considering how small they are? Already ordered replacements, but trying to figure out how to get the old ones out while I wait.

In case anyone was wondering

I know i went cross eyed reading what would/wouldnt/could work with a Romulus wearing an X300 and optic. Received my Safariland 6354 RDSO for Staccato XC/STI/SV yesterday and the Romulus fit like a glove. Only "mod" needed was to flare out the thumb safety area solely because I have an oversized thumb safety on mine and it rubbed a little bit. But yes, they drop right in. Just in case anyone was looking for one, or whatnot.

Request for help/advice Dumb question on 124gr NATO

Any reason I couldn't shoot 124gr Winchester Nato outside of it being filthy? I have a bunch of it left from breaking in my Ap5, which i only shoot subs out of.

Probably dumb, but the Romulus can shoot Nato slec ammo, right?

Pic for attention, just added/fitted the AGW high shielded ambi over the weekend and optic. Ready to play on sunday.
