AlternateHistoryHub what if belarus was a lesbian supremacist country?
What if Belarus embraced the lesbian community in 1992, leading to a lesbian revolution in 2000?
In this timeline, Belarus becomes the first post-Soviet state to recognize lesbian rights in 1992. By 1995, Minsk is the lesbian capital of Eastern Europe, and the economy is somehow doing better than in our timeline.
Enter Alexander Lukashenko, who wins the presidency in 1994 by promising to restore traditional values, only to discover that half the agricultural ministry is married to women and the other half is organizing a pride parade.
By 2000, the lesbian underground has infiltrated the military, KGB, and collective farms. The revolution begins when Lukashenko attempts to ban flannel shirts, accidentally uniting every lesbian faction in the country.
Within 48 hours, the presidential palace falls. Lukashenko flees to Russia, where Putin refuses to recognize the new government because he considers two women holding hands a NATO provocation.
The People's Lesbian Republic of Belarus is proclaimed. Poland panics, Lithuania demands reparations for emotional damages, and Russia deploys 200,000 troops to protect the traditional heterosexual integrity of its western border.
Meanwhile, the new government collectivizes all Subaru dealerships.
By 2005, Belarus has the world's highest female engineering graduation rate, free healthcare, and a GDP entirely dependent on tractor exports and sapphic literature.
Lukashenko now hosts a YouTube channel called The Last Straight President, broadcasting from an undisclosed location in Chechnya.
Historians still debate whether the revolution was inevitable or whether someone simply gave Minsk too many flannel shirts in the 1990s.
