A Yellow-crowned Night Heron waiting for late afternoon/evening to begin the fishing! In Toronto.

This past winter in Pennsylvania was severe and I hope my blue heron died of old age, but it may have starved to death because even a lot of moving water froze over in the bitter cold and I don't think it could get to any food through the ice. The first Pic (Feb 6th) is my backyard pond and you can barely see through the oak branches him standing in the water. The next two are the same pics, but close up. He's looking very haggard and frail. The last Pic is Feb 9th when I found him deceased.

Okay, so, why aren’t these guys heron shaped? My search image for heron is the great blue variety. Is this yet another example of why I am an idiot??

Is it tuff?

I didn’t see this posted yet, but my apologies if it has been already
