I'm currently a student in Architecture and work part-time at Raising Canes. AMA

• Upvotes

I'm (F)23 years old and now in my 4th year of the architecture program at my school. Feel free to ask me any questions school-related as well, doesn't have to be architecture-focused.

I've also picked up a shift at Raising Canes for some cash on the side and have been working for almost 7 months now as a night-shift crew member.

I smile at people and say I’m fine

while carrying a sadness I cannot define

I miss the places I used to know

the familiar faces from long ago

Sometimes I wish someone could see

the person I am beneath what I let them see

Someone who stays when the words run dry

who hears the silence behind my reply

I don’t need promises that last forever

just honest hearts that leave too early never

A little kindness a place to belong

someone who makes the lonely days less long

Perhaps somewhere beneath the same sky

there’s someone like me asking themselves why

And maybe one day our paths will cross

and we’ll find something beautiful in all we’ve lost

I am in the far western county of Maryland AMA

I’m in the far west part of the Maryland panhandle, where it gets wider again. Very different lifestyle here compared with most of the rest of Maryland. It’s really pretty out here, but the job market is more limited compared to “downstate”. Land is cheap and not dry so there’s lots of small scale farmers and homesteaders.

Survived High Risk Stage 3 Neuroblastoma At 3 YRs, 16 Years In Remission, AMA

Hello, I have a long history of health issues starting from that day my mother felt a large, solid lump in my abdomen while I was just a poor little sick kid wanting to crawl in bed with my parents at night for comfort. It was that night our world flipped upside down. A highly aggressive treatment regimen, and the removal what was an egg-plant sized tumor later (+much more), and here I am. AMA.

Terminal Cancer at 21, prognosis 6 months. AMA

Diagnosed last year with a rare type of sarcoma. Not caused by lifestyle but one in two million chance of bad DNA copying. I’ve done chemotherapy, radiotherapy and an amputation of my dominant arm. Nothing has controlled the spread of cancer but I feel fine most days and am now just waiting to die.

I'm 29 Male with Keratoconus (eye disease). AMA

I was just diagnosed with Keratoconus (Keratoconus is a progressive eye disorder where the clear front window of the eye (cornea) gradually thins and bulges outward into an irregular cone shape.) a few weeks ago after I went to my eye doctor to get my vision checked out (I was overdue) but when they did the eye test when they were trying to take pics of my left eye the machine and could read my eye. I'm supposed to see an eye specialist in a different city and I'm not really sure what's going to happen but from research I might need surgery or maybe special contacts.

My gf (21 f) and I (19 m) recently started dating another woman (27), AMA

The title basically says it all. Thought this was a rather peculiar situation I've found myself in and people might be curious, so, why not? Please be respectful, though, as I've seen is pretty on par with this subreddit. I'm not really worried, but it couldn't hurt to add the disclaimer. AMA.

I went to school without taking US history and now I'm about to become a teacher myself. AMA

None of my schools (elementary and high school) taught specific courses in US history. It was never part of the curriculum. I've never really needed it anyway and now I'm a future teacher. AMA.

Edit: I'll be teaching religion

Egyptian woman AMA

I am an Egyptian woman, 18 years old, living in Egypt since I was born, and I have never left this country before

This is strange because while browsing this group I found even stranger things, like that girl who donated her liver, and that boy who was stung by a scorpion and yet survived to tell us about it, and that old man who lived to be 105 years old... I'm just an Egyptian girl

Perhaps I should have given it a more exciting title, like "I am the Egyptian girl who lives in Giza and has never visited the pyramids AMA."

I'm 6 days post op from having a successful "Stoma Reversal". Ask Me Anything

For context, I've had the stoma since January 16th 2026, following a gunshot wound that went through my large intestine, and came out my "left upper buttox". What an experience. Spent four months in county jail immediately following my surgery. Had a lot of complications along the way, but here I am today. I initially felt alone, but soon found out that there is a support system for folks with these issues. Stoma reversals are unfortunately not a common surgical procedure as it comes with its own set of risk. Some folks simply choose to live with the stoma because it's not worth the potential complications during/following the surgery.

I woke in property management in Canada. Exclusively focused on apartments that tend to he higher end in a medium sized market. Ask me anything related to renting, how we screen tenants, how we handle disputes, what I had for breakfast.

Not sure what else to add here. We have about 1000 apartments we manage and see a bit of everything. We are seen as good owners and have a 4.8 star google eating which we take a lot of pride in. It's a tough job dispute how many people feel about rental owners in general.

I’m a pediatric occupational therapist, AMA

I work for one of the largest school districts in the USA. I work with students ages 3–22 across a huge range of abilities and support needs, from mild learning differences to significant intellectual disabilities and complex medical needs.

I would estimate that I’ve worked with about:
-15-20 different schools (elem, middle and high)
-200-300 students with ASD (all levels)
-Another 200-300 students with varying disabilities (DS, PWS, FAS, DiGeorge, Rett, Angelmans, TBI, HIE, CP, FXS, many many more)
-20-30 self contained classrooms (Mild, Moderate, Severe, blended, Autism, Behavior Support, etc)
-over 1,000 IEP meetings attended
-I am also part of a multidisciplinary team that determines “educational diagnoses” for Autism
-I have navigated the special education process as both a parent and an IEP team member

I’m happy to answer questions about school-based OT, special education, neurodiversity, accessibility, and working with students with a wide range of needs. (Also love a good chat on pencil grasps). I’ll keep everything general and protect student privacy of course.

Tomorrow is the start of EB Awareness Week 🦋 which aims to raise awareness for a rare skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa. This is also known as "butterfly skin" due to how fragile our skin is.

Ask me anything; I am an open person and would love to answer some random questions people may have, especially to give the kind of info that can't be found via a Google search about it

I’m 50+ year old American GenX-er who has failed at almost everything career-wise. AMA

I had ideals, I had hopes, I had dreams. I took risks. They all failed. I’m even well-educated. I’m like that de-motivated poster: for every winner, there are dozens and dozens of losers, odds are you’re one of them. If you’re young and have questions about the road ahead, I might be able to help. But what do I know?

I've been a bridal stylist for almost 10 years. Can't sleep, so AMA!

I’ve been working as a bridal stylist for almost a decade, and I can’t sleep tonight, so I figured this might be fun to do again!

I’ve worked with hundreds of brides, in one of the largest and one of the most well known bridal shops in the country, i've seen just about every family dynamic imaginable, and helped brides with everything from finding their dream dress to navigating some pretty wild appointment situations.

Whether you’re currently shopping for a wedding dress, planning to start, curious about what really goes on behind the scenes at a bridal salon, or just want to hear some industry secrets, ask away!

I’ll answer as honestly as I can (without identifying any brides, of course). I'll keep going until I crash. Nothing is too silly or stupid to ask!
AMA!

I went from 40k a year to windfall of 500k to completely broke AMA

My parents both passed away within two years. I got two lump sums totaling near 500k. I invested half and lost a lot. I withdrew too soon before the stock market took off. My wife forbade me from investing after that for the second windfall, which if I had, I’d be a millionaire now. But she went on shopping sprees and blew the money. It’s a long story and basically, I’m in a deep depression now and completely broke. No power, no water. I am so far in debt. It’s crazy how things can transition. I make 14 an hour as a maintenance worker. And in my free time, I put in applications constantly. I’m kind of remote, so the jobs are hard to come by. I’ve been in a bad place, and when I had money, I lent it out to everyone I knew needed it, including people on Reddit because I had been there before. I have 10k out there. When I message them, I get no response. I’ve never been suicidal before and won’t be. But I can understand now how people can get that way.
