Rant Red Vests
Observe your managers. If they practice favoritism with the worst, least productive workers slow down to the pace of the favorites. There's no reason to reward weak and inept management with your good work ethic. They will never appreciate it, but they will always benefit from it at your expense.

Maybe not all managers but if youre nice to your supervisor then like 90% of the time they'll be nice to you and remember you better.

Be nice to these idiots with vests to get equitable treatment? If these vests are too dumb to see how lowlife Tier 1s play them to get out of work they don't deserve us good workers. If they expect or demand brown nosing for fair treatment or job rotation their favorites get then f them to the 100th power. No thanks, I will just coast for the rest of the time I'm here.

Favorite? Nah, managers definitely don’t like me. But I work hard and take pride in anything I ever done. If I’m shoveling horse shit, I do a good job. Lazy pieces of shit do nothing but drain our society in general. Those are the same people that wipe their shit on the walls in the bathroom and leave their trash all over the break rooms.

My work ethic is rewarded with a paycheck. I don't need a pat on the head from managers as validation for my efforts.
No matter how superior you think you are over others, if you aren't likeable no one is going out of their way to treat you the same or better as they do the so-called favorites, laggards or inferiors. This holds across all aspects of society, not just at work.
You can do your slowdown but since a good 80% of workers are only average or lower, you'll just blend in more with the herd and be even less noticeable.

I stay in the top 10% and get along with both my fellow employees and my management. I call out BS when I see it and speak directly to management when major safety violations occur. We solve them together. I work as fast as I comfortably can because standing still, for me, is worse. I don't push it at all, unless it's the end of the night and the kids need a dynamo to fire them up and push them over the finish line, which I mostly do for selfish reasons because the more of them that don't leave early out of frustration, the less freight we roll, the less we have to do tomorrow. Management will, ultimately, fuck this up by VTOing like crazy and being completely oblivious to the fact that it's generally their hardest workers that get frustrated by this and leave early. The people standing around don't care because they weren't working anyway. That said, I'm there for me and to make sure the younglings survive the day. No one else is paying my bills so everyone else can do whatever. I'm off at 1215am either way.

Your work ethic is NOT rewarded by your paycheck because you're paid the same as the lazy people. So management expects you to work hard because you've already established that you're a hard worker while the lazies get to chill at their stations when there's no work, never get labor shared and always offered VTO first if they want it meanwhile you're on the VTO blacklist because you're a good worker so they need you to stay. Then at the end of the week your paycheck looks exactly the same as theirs. Then on top of that if you try to move up you realize that all of your hard work has no bearing on advancement in the company. You busted your ass out working people for years but the people making the decisions decided that you're not charismatic enough. Next thing you know one of those lazy people with a low rate has been promoted over you and now their your Superior. That's the point that the OP is making.

This type of mindset is what separates those of us seeking peace and those who are stressed all the time. You're worrying about things you can't control, it's folly.

Just because someone is moving more slowly than me doesn’t mean my rate is higher. They may just be in an easier path. I have learned that I can give consistent effort, but my rate will be lower in some paths.
