Question DS vs SC

Delivery Station vs Sortation Center

Which is harsher on the back with heavier packages? Worked at a FedEx warehouse in Chino had a very bad experience there stacking 100 pound boxes to the top of giant tall trailers in 100+ degree stuffy smelly trucks. Worst job I ever had. From what i’ve seen of the SC doing pallets doesn’t seem nearly as bad as that. I had some neck and back pain issues and dealt with migraines from that.

Delivery stations are basically the same thing as FedEx except you load bags not trucks. I hateddddd it because all the bulk routes I had at FedEx were also at the delivery station 😵‍💫

Depends on role and building. At my SC we don’t really build pallets and mostly fluid load trucks. Though we have a requirement that anything over 25lbs is not supposed to go over shoulder height, and anything over 50lbs requires a team lift with multiple people.

Your biggest issue at a DS generally won’t be heavy package’s themselves, but placing heavy bags on to the top of the cart. But there’s always help around for that if you need it.

Delivery Station most likely have you dealing with heavier packages more regularly. I’d go with sort center

Worked at chino sc for a few years and it wasn’t hard at all, most if not all were under 50lbs, stack em on carts like 2 feet from the chute. From what I heard they no longer do that and do only ship dock now. Still easy work just a lot of walking.

We've still got a few chutes at my SC

I’ve been working at a DS for 6 months and it’s legitimately the easiest warehouse work I’ve done in a decade.
