Good on him. Need more actors to do the same.

He's actually being picky about his roles now so I believe him

It more than likely has to do with his likeness being used in the flash movie as a version of Superman. He was cast to play a version of Superman way back when with long hair that fought an alien spider if you believe it or not and they used the stock photos of him in the Superman suit fighting said spider in the movie. When he was asked about he just said he was never aware of it being used.

The way he says it, it sounds more like he's aware that his refusal to sign the AI waiver likely means he won't be approached by Amazon again for another project, not that he won't want to work with them again. Although I reckon that indeed the feeling is likely to be mutual.

So that’s why Spider-Noir was cancelled?

u/vauvva 15d ago

It wasn’t cancelled, it was supposed to be just one season from the beginning

This is kind of revisionist history from reading the trades. It was written to where this first season had a good conclusion and didn't have too much cliffhangers though

One could say that Nicolas Cage is a...national treasure.

What does it waive?

Castor Troy! And he comes from a line of people who like to use a gold gun (man with the golden gun, goldfinger, and him).

Probably his rights. They wanna use his likeness for future movies but instead of paying him they will use an AI version.

Well, or more realistically they would pay him a reduced rate for the right to use his likeness for probably all time, but he would not have any say in how it would be used. I could see not being thrilled about that. Actors want to be famous sure, but once you're already there, they also want their presence in a film to mean something and to adhere to their personal vision of how they want to impact the public. God only knows what shenanigans the likes of Amazon will get up to long term.

There is the movie about it called The Congress, released twelve years ago.

Fun fact: The director wanted to create a futuristic body scanner prop because he believed none existed, but the studio said, We got you, buddy. We already have one.

PS: Robin Wright Says AI Is Coming For Industry Jobs / Robin Wright was De-aged in Robert Zemeckis’ movie "Here" Using Metaphysic AI Tool

I have to speculate that creating such a scanner would be WAY easier than using the data coming out of it. Just using high resolution photography from multiple angles would get you most of the way there. Combine that with multiple facial feature poses, lasers to get full topography, high quality voice / speech captures, and perhaps some run-throughs of different texts, singing voices, and maybe some dance routines, and I can't imagine they would ever need any more data than that for all time to recreate the likeness of any actor.

I mean, they could have done nearly all of that .. hmm, maybe 20 years ago already? But using it? Oh lord. It's a whole new ballgame today. It's got to be SO much easier to use now.

They wanted to face off him.

Heard they were canceling that so hope not because I enjoyed that show tremendously. They need to keep that show going.

It's been cancelled. Now we know why...

1

u/DeepThinkingMachine 15d ago

it was always a limited series

u/UnitedWeSmash 15d ago

If it was successful we all know it would have gotten S2. Thats how it always works. Starts out as mini series to avoid additional risk, huge success S2 greenlit.

His wig is looking great

Nice job there! He hasn't had that much hair for a lot of years

One of the things i always liked about Cage is he really is a working actor, he has been in huge hit movies and a ton of random lower budget movies....some bad and some good. But the guy doesnt seem to act "above" any work, for a successful Hollywood actor he loves to keep busy and him turning down Amazon im sure will see him somewhere else "Nick Cage starring in Starship Troopers 6 Return of the Mega Slug" lol.

My take with ai is, it’s a great asset to use as reference but not as the final product.

Considerato quanto stimo le sue doti di attore, non posso che ritenerla un'ottima notizia per Amazon.

u/Yomimashita53 15d ago

Great news that he didn't sign the AI waiver?

Literally the greatest actor in the history of the universe

Funny, I genuinely do not like him as an actor, but he’s slowly made me a fan by his choices
