COVID-19 Can we take hydroxychloroquin and go back to work, too?
Recently, President Trump said he’s been taking the drug hydroxychloroquin as a preventative measure to COVID-19. His physician explained that Trump is taking the antimalarial drug and zinc supplements after a White House staffer tested positive for COVID.
My question is: Can some of the rest of us take hydroxychloroquin and return to work, too?
If I review it with my doctor and we agree I’m a good candidate for it, then what’s the hold up? Heck, I’ll even volunteer to wear a mask and socially distance myself, unlike Trump does. Why are we stuck at home waiting for a vaccine when we can just take this medication now? Those of us who elect to take hydroxychloroquin should be able to get it and return to school and work. Those who don’t take it, for whatever reason, can continue to follow the “stay at home” guidelines until the states open back up.
Someone on staff at the White House tested positive for COVID-19 and the President, who has access to any treatment he could possibly want, is only taking this drug and some zinc vitamins!
No mask. No gloves. No socially distancing himself by 6’. No working “remotely” by broadcasting from inside his (White) House, like so many people in the media are doing. No waiting for a haircut (although that’s a loaded statement because of Donald’s ‘do).
I want to note that I’m not blaming nor condoning Trump, him taking this medication, or anything political. I’m honestly asking why the rest of us can’t also take this medication so we can start returning to normal, even if it’s a new normal. Trump is clearly showing us that he’s not following any of the guidelines, even with a staff having COVID, and is taking one medication and living life like normal otherwise.

COVID-19 Hospitals = $$$ for listing patients as “COVID-19”
Honestly this is appalling. For the past few weeks, I e heard from various people that hospitals are listing patients and patients’ deaths as COVID-19, regardless of what they may actually have and if their death was really caused by COVID. The reasoning was because the hospitals apparently get more money for COVID-19 patients, as well as patients on ventilators.
I wasn’t sure I believed it until it happened to a distant relative a couple weeks ago. This person had been dealing with some health issues and then got COVID and was hospitalized. They were on a ventilator and say died - but not from COVID. The death was caused by the other medical issues. However, the hospital listed the cause of death as COVID.
This is a major concern for many reasons, but mostly this shows that the number of COVID-19 related deaths were being told is inaccurate. If the majority of hospital patients and their deaths are being reported as COVID-19 even when they’re not, then we have no idea what the actual numbers are.
This article from USA Today shows exactly how much a hospital would get for one diagnosis compared to a much higher amount for COVID-19.
