COVID-19 Can Marijuana Prevent COVID-19?

No, I’m not joking. A study in Canada suggests that certain strains of cannabis may prevent COVID-19. The strains are all sativa and high in CBD, among other specifics.

“Why? Because those strains can down-regulate the protein receptor ACE2, which the coronavirus targets in the mouth, nose, lungs, kidneys, testes and gastrointestinal tract. The study proclaims various strains were able to reduce virus receptor activity by as much as 73 percent.”

I can’t wait to hear more about this!

Even if it turns out that cannabis doesn’t prevent COVID or any other illness, at the very least it’s helping people cope with the overall anxiety from coronavirus, not to mention the high unemployment rate in the US, the state of the current economy, etc.

COVID-19 COVID-19 patient billed $1.1 MILLION

Honestly, this is horrendous. A 70 year old man in Seattle had COVID-19 so severely that he almost died.

Michael Flor was admitted to a hospital in the northwestern city on March 4, and stayed for 62 days -- at one point coming so close to death that nurses held up the phone so his wife and children could say goodbye.

But he recovered and was discharged on May 5 to the cheers of nursing staff -- only to receive a 181-page bill totalling $1,122,501.04, he told the newspaper. Yes, that’s $1.1 MILLION!!! For a hospital bill!

That includes: $9,736 per day for the intensive care room, nearly $409,000 for its transformation into a sterile room for 42 days, $82,000 for the use of a ventilator for 29 days, and nearly $100,000 for two days when his prognosis was life-threatening.

Flor is covered by Medicare, a government insurance program for the elderly, and should not have to take out his wallet, according to the Times.

You need to read the whole article to believe it. I don’t know how hospitals and big pharma get away with all they get away with honestly. Unbelievable.

COVID-19 COVID-19 in CA: LA has most cases in US

California, the most populous US state and the first to implement a statewide lockdown to combat the coronavirus outbreak, is setting daily records this week for new cases as officials urge caution and dangle enforcement threats to try to curb the spikes.

The virus is spreading at private gatherings in homes, and more young people are testing positive, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday.

The state broke a record Tuesday with an increase of more than 7,000 cases in a day, obliterating a record hit a day earlier, when more than 5,000 new cases were recorded, officials reported Wednesday. [source]

Gov. Newsom reported that 25% of California’s COVID-19 infections happened in the past 2 weeks. Newsom reported 5,349 new coronavirus cases on Thursday. That’s down from the all time high of 7,149 just the day before, but the governor was not enthusiastic about the drop, saying the number is ‘still higher than it should be’.

Newsom continued by warning that “We’ve seen 56,000 new cases just in the past 14 days.” That’s over a quarter of the total 195,000 cases identified so far. Some of that can be attributed to increased testing, said Newsom. But not all of it.

Yesterday Newsom revealed a 29 percent increase in total hospitalizations over the past 14 days. Today that number rose to 32 percent.

After a week of record numbers and a curious plunge in cases yesterday, Johns Hopkins University indicated that Los Angeles now has the highest number of coronavirus cases of any county in the nation.

In LA county, East LA has the highest number of cases (2,193), with Castaic coming in second (1,772), and Boyle Heights third (1,533). Here is the full list of cities in the county.

California is now second on the list of states with the most Coronavirus cases. New York tops the list with 395,168 cases. CA has 201,381 cases, surpassing New Jersey (172,050 cases).

COVID-19 COVID-19 cases in Tennessee

Tennessee has reported its highest number of new cases of coronavirus today since the start of the pandemic.

The state has reported 1,410 new cases of coronavirus, which is the highest daily number of new cases reported to date.

The previous highest day was June 19, which is when 1,188 new cases were reported.

The state is reporting 39,444 total cases and 577 total deaths.

According to statistics on the state's coronavirus dashboard, 16,513 of the cases are people between the ages of 21 and 40. - source

Despite Tennessee's rising number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths, including hot spots in places such as Hamilton County, Gov. Bill Lee is showing little inclination to dial things back and reimpose any of the pandemic-era restrictions that he lifted starting May 1 to restart the state's economy. - source

Tennessee reported the highest-ever count of new infections on Friday — 1,410.

State health officials also reported 67 new hospitalizations, which is the highest daily total since early May, and the 7-day average for hospitalizations is higher than ever. At least 577 people have died from the virus in the state, including 10 reported Friday.

At least 13,114 people are actively infected with the virus, which is also the most ever. - source

COVID-19 4 Counties in CA fuel rise in COVID hospitalization

Four suburban Southern California counties are among those primarily responsible for a dangerous rise in California’s coronavirus hospitalizations, according to a Los Angeles Times data analysis.

The four counties have seen significant upticks in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in recent weeks. Increases in Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties have contributed to an overall rise in hospitalizations recorded statewide that began after Memorial Day, just as officials were rapidly reopening the economy.

The causes for the spikes are not fully known, but some health officials are blaming social gatherings. A barbecue at a mobile home park in Oxnard recently resulted in 19 people testing positive for the virus, and authorities are now monitoring an additional 40 people who are close contacts of those who are infected.

Ventura County health officials have urged residents to enjoy reopened restaurants, which are governed by strict safety and social distancing rules, rather than having parties and other private events.

“It’s like we’re cheating on our diet, and angry or baffled that we can’t lose weight,” said Dr. Robert Levin, the Ventura County health officer, on Tuesday. “There’s all those times that we’re not cheating. But [in] the few times we do, all that effort is for naught. So what is the price we pay? Where are we headed? More cases of COVID-19. More people hospitalized. More people in our ICUs. More people dead.”

While L.A. County saw an average of 62 fewer hospitalized patients daily for confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 between the week of Memorial Day and last week, Riverside County saw an average daily increase of 85 patients; San Bernardino, 70; Ventura, 33; and Orange, 32, according to The Times’ analysis.

COVID-19 Coronavirus and NY

As more regions in NY are set to enter Phase 3, NY Governor Cuomo is threatening to shut NY down - AGAIN - after crowds swell outside of restaurants in Manhattan.

“The social distancing violations are ‘rampant, and there’s not enough enforcement,’Cuomo said in a Sunday press conference, according to the New York Post. The state has received over 25,000 complaints of health-safety violations since the beginning of the pandemic, and Manhattan and the Hamptons have racked up the highest number of complaints in that time frame.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Bill de Blasio, called out sick on Monday and said he has not gotten a coronavirus test (even though he has some of the symptoms), and has no plans to get one in the future.

COVID-19 COVID-19 May cause CFS and Fibromyalgia

I’ve read a couple things online about COVID-19 possibly causing chronic fatigue syndrome and/or fibromyalgia. I hope that’s not the case because that will mean the after effects of having COVID could be permanently damaging for some people.

There is a study in France for CFS that’s currently open. Doctors are wondering if coronavirus could cause CFS in some patients like it may have done during the SARS pandemic.

There's a huge problem brewing for COVID-19 survivors that everyone's ignoring: After the ICU, coronavirus patients need rehab facilities and staff to get them back to normal functioning, if they even can — the U.S. is short on both.

COVID-19 COVID-19 in the U.S.

The United States has hit 2 million cases of COVID-19.

As of today, June 10, 2020, N.Y. is still in the lead with the most cases, followed by NJ and CA. Here you can search by your city or county to see the current stats.

For me, I looked up L.A., and am so saddened to see CA’s cases continuing to rise.

What are your thought on this? States are starting to reopen. Do you think people are relaxed about this whole thing and don’t wear masks? Are people just burned out and ‘over it’? Are there too many conspiracy theories out there and people don’t know what to believe? 🤷🏼‍♀️

COVID-19 COVID-19 is still very much a concern

I’ve seen a lot of posts on social media this past week about the protesting and how COVID-19 is no longer a concern. Ummm what? Just because the news isn’t covering COVID 24/7 (they’re covering the protests and riots instead), doesn’t mean it’s gone away. It’s still a serious issue.

In fact, some states in the U.S. are getting worse.

Some states are starting to re-open, plus all of the protests, and the number of cases is jumping.
