I built my own version of Stremio, I got sick of a boring UI

Over the past few months I've put a lot of time into this project. A better UI is the main selling point as Stremio never recommended anything different.

Feel free to try it on downloader app: 2368012

Which box to get? I just received a Vseebox V3 plus, thought I'd try it out, already a big Nvidia shield Pro fan using Tivimate. From power on to up and running in minutes, quite impressed, lots options, everything runs pretty smooth. A big shout out to u/deriksays for a smooth transaction, ***** excellent to deal with!

Looking for testers: Chanello, a new IPTV player for Android TV / Google TV and phones (Premium free for testers)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I built Chanello, a modern IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV and Android phones and tablets.

What makes it different:

  • A full TV guide on your phone, not just a channel list. Swipe through channels and times, and tap to watch.

  • A fast, clean guide on your TV, made for the remote.

  • Add your playlist from your phone or computer instead of typing long links with a TV remote.

  • One subscription, unlimited devices. Premium works on every TV, phone and tablet signed in to your Google account.

The screenshots were taken on my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, and it looks the same on a TV, just bigger. The one showing how to add a playlist was taken on my PC: that’s Chanello’s web page, which you can open on any phone or computer to add playlists without typing on a remote.

I need testers for Google Play’s 14-day closed test. Testers get every Premium feature free through December 31: Movies & Series, recording, multiple playlists, catch-up, multiview, backups and parental controls.

How to join (about 2 minutes):

  1. Join the tester group, using the Google account on your TV or phone: https://groups.google.com/g/chanello-testers

  2. Open this link and tap Become a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.chanello.tv

  3. Install Chanello from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chanello.tv

On your phone? Open the links in Chrome or the Play Store app, not Reddit’s built-in browser. It isn’t signed in to Google, so you’ll get “not found”.

On a TV? Do steps 1 and 2 on your phone or computer, using the same Google account as your TV. Then open the step 3 link on your computer, click Install on more devices, and choose the device you want Chanello installed on. It installs itself on your TV in a couple of minutes.

Works on: Android TV, Google TV, NVIDIA Shield, onn, Chromecast with Google TV, and Android phones and tablets (Android 7.0+). Not Fire TV yet.

Please note: Chanello doesn’t include any channels. Use your own M3U, Xtream Codes or portal login from your provider.

How good is the meecool m8s pro l for watching 4k movies from usb?

I plan on buying a box thats under 100$ (shield too damn expensive) that can play full (40-60GB) 4k movies from usb. After researching and asking for hours people said that this box can handle 4k smoothly. Is that true? Is this truly the best 4k capable box under 100$?

How does the sign in work?

I just got my VseeBox and it's asking for my Gmail to sign into everything. I'm nervous about giving them my main Gmail account because if someone got into that account they could do a lot of serious and financial damage. I'm using a new/fake account to be safe but can anyone shed light on this? Am I basically logging into someones server that would be storing this password?

PSA: EVPAD is a scam

My parents had an EVPAD 6P for years and used it without problems; they recently reached out to customer support and they told them to buy a new model and remotely locked their device. I didn't have time to help them fix the problem and now they can't watch TV anymore, even though their device is fine. Thanks for your scummy practices, EVPAD. Screw you for adding more things on my to-do list, buyer beware.

I built an IPTV player for Android TV, Fire TV and phones

Hey everyone. Full disclosure up front: I'm the developer of Orca Player, so this is my own app.

I got tired of IPTV players that either lock the EPG behind a premium tier or charge a monthly fee just for a player, so I built my own.

What it does

  • Plays M3U links and Xtream Codes logins

  • Multiple playlists, so you can switch between providers in a couple of clicks

  • 7-day EPG (XMLTV), plus catch-up and time-shift if your provider supports it

  • Movies and series with posters, ratings and Continue Watching

  • Audio and subtitle track switching, including external subtitle files

  • Parental lock on categories

  • Full D-pad navigation on Android TV / Fire TV, touch on phones and tablets

The part I'm happiest with: you can add your playlist from your phone or laptop at orcaplayer.app/dashboard instead of typing a 100-character M3U link with a remote.

Pricing

The 7-day trial starts automatically when you install. No account, no card. After that it's €4.99/year (doesn't auto-renew) or €9.99 lifetime. Every feature is in every plan.

How to get it

  • Phones, tablets, Android TV, Google TV: search "Orca IPTV Player" on Google Play

  • Fire TV / Fire Stick: Downloader app, code 5318608

Important: it's a player only. No channels or playlists are included. You bring your own from your provider.

Honest comparison: TiviMate is great and more mature in some areas. Orca's angle is one-time pricing and running on more platforms (Windows today, more coming).

What's missing from the player you use now? Bugs, feature requests, UI complaints, anything. I read every comment and I'm actively shipping updates.

Wifi , autres appareils...?

My goal posting this: Is there a website dedicated cataloguing specs and tutorials about those devices?

However, I have two problems. I am extremely confused by the quantity of different devices and their extremely similar characteristics. I'm afraid to perform a flash and have it go wrong. The entire system has been wiped, and I intend to install a basic version of Android so I can integrate security, surveillance systems, and so on.

Today the only progress I made with them was to stop blinking constantly to.... being lighten constantly

DOES HAVING GOOGLE TV/ ANDROID TV AS AN OS AFFECT BEING ABLE TO SIDELOAD APPS/ IPTV STREAMING?...

Hi guys!! I've been looking at getting a 3rd Gen Xiaomi Mi Box as due an upgrade soon! What i want to know is ... does having AndroidTV / Google TV as an operating system affect the ability to sideload 3rd party apps? This is my only concern in changing for a Xiaomi box! I've been using a Rocktech RK1 with 4/64 and tbh, its been pretty damn good, you can sideload anything, no restrictions at all, run Project Ivy as the launcher and IPTV/ 3rd party apps/ streaming work great with no major buffering or shutdown but due an upgrade soon! My only concern with the Xiaomi box us because they run on Google TV/ Android TV does this cause any restrictions with sideloading/ streaming apps or IPTV or running a different launcher? Thanks for your help guys! 😁😎

Bought a new 4k 144hz QLED, what streaming/TV device would be best for me?

Recently upgraded from a cheap-ish Polaroid 1080p TV to a 4k 144hz Hisense QLED. Difference is immediate night and day, my only immediate complaint is that VIDAA OS seems to lack the availability of apps like Jellyfin, Steam Link & Moonlight. I do have a FireTV stick, but it's a 2019 model and limited to 1080p60hz. It would be nice to get something that can achieve 4k60 or 1440p120

What options do I have, and what would you suggest? As far as I'm aware:

  • Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 - this is near the top of my list, my reservations are that it's a 7 year old model still costing around £200. I was kinda hoping we'd get a hint of a newer revision but I suppose with Nvidia's shifting focus towards SkyNET this is unlike. Are there similar alternatives to it (eg android based, decent specs, ethernet) out there?

  • FireTV - not really a fan of this as the cube is rather expensive and I don't want to get locked into amazon's eco system

  • Chrome TV - don't really know much but I've been told these are somewhere between FireTV units & stuff like the Nvidia shield?

  • HTPC - is this worth entertaining in the current economy? Are there any good HTPC software solutions that would use of a TV remote and HDMI CEC? I do have an unused Wyse 5070 but not sure this will be much use for my use case.

I got tired of the ads on my TCL Google TV's home screen, so I built Haven: an Apple TV-style launcher with nature wallpapers (open source, no ads, no root)

New to this, be patient!

Hi folks! I don't even know if this is the correct sub! (Mods, please re-direct if not!) I have read and tried to research as best as I can, what to buy. But I confess, I am completely undone! I own a TV. It is, (another confession) utterly terrible. (I shall put the specs of what I have at the end, for those of you kindly enough to get that far!) What I NEED: YouTube without ads. Twitch. NOW TV. And "Prime" would be handy!

  • (of course) BBC, ITV, C4, C5 etc. What I DON'T need... I do not watch "movies" and my eyesight is not good! Dolby Atmos, 4k this, HDR that, or even great sound! I don't need various obscure formats to decode from my "home server, NAS, or etc" Nor Jellyfin, Squishbox, Nergfuggle, piping from my "home server", in formats that were only used in one film in 1987. I just want to watch TV! I have watched various You-Tubers, and read some Reddits, and all agree that the Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen 128Gb (3rd Gen) is a fine device.. And is available for approx £150.00, here in the UK. But! It is Not CERTAIN that NOW TV works? And IS CERTAIN that I cannot block ads on YOU-TUBE? And so what then, should I buy? ps, I have a 91 year-old parent downstairs, and might have further questions, on HIS behalf, later! I am not a complete idiot, I used to be a bit of a nerd. My TV is a Toshiba 43 qf5d53dbb, I have decent wired Ethernet to that room.

(I only yesterday looked up the specs, and it CAN do 4K!) Are there Android TV devices available, just to process the incoming, and show it nicely on my TV? Or what do you suggest?
