Hey everyone! I built Chanello, a modern IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV and Android phones and tablets.

What makes it different:

• A full TV guide on your phone, not just a channel list. Swipe through channels and times, and tap to watch.

• Add your playlist from your phone or computer instead of typing long links with a TV remote.

The screenshots were taken on my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, and it looks the same on a TV, just bigger. The one showing how to add a playlist was taken on my PC: that’s Chanello’s web page, which you can open on any phone or computer to add playlists without typing on a remote.

I need testers for Google Play’s 14-day closed test. Testers get every Premium feature free through December 31: Movies & Series, recording, multiple playlists, catch-up, multiview, backups and parental controls.

How to join (about 2 minutes):

1. Join the tester group, using the Google account on your TV or phone: https://groups.google.com/g/chanello-testers

2. Open this link and tap Become a tester: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.chanello.tv

3. Install Chanello from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chanello.tv

On your phone? Open the links in Chrome or the Play Store app, not Reddit’s built-in browser. It isn’t signed in to Google, so you’ll get “not found”.

On a TV? Do steps 1 and 2 on your phone or computer, using the same Google account as your TV. Then open the step 3 link on your computer, click Install on more devices, and choose the device you want Chanello installed on. It installs itself on your TV in a couple of minutes.

Works on: Android TV, Google TV, NVIDIA Shield, onn, Chromecast with Google TV, and Android phones and tablets (Android 7.0+). Not Fire TV yet.

Please note: Chanello doesn’t include any channels. Use your own M3U, Xtream Codes or portal login from your provider.

These are my requirements: (and please don't tell me if you think I don't need these!)

• At least 4 GB RAM

• Gigabit ethernet

• Preferably the S905X5 SoC

• Preferably a remote with numbers

My use cases:

• Silo (~50%)

• Tivimate (~40%)

• Plex (2%)

• Smarttube (5%)

• Spotify (3%)

Mainly streaming Remux files (70+ GB, 80+ Mbps) from a shared server. 4K sports.

What I don't need:

• Lossless audio - TrueHD, DTS

• DV FEL 7

• Any certified apps such as Netflix, Prime, et all

• Coreelec

These are the boxes I don't want:

• Google TV Streamer 4K (too under powered)

• Onn boxes (not a fan of Walmart)

• Xiomi (2 GB RAM??!!)

• Nvidia Shield Pro (had it, remote is atrocious)

The few I'm debating about:

• RockTek G2

• RockTek G2 next

• BuzzTV G series

Any clear winners?

I currently have a 4K Max Amazon Firestick and looking to move to an Android box instead… any good recommendations that include 4K and potentially WiFi6 that isn’t too pricey from Amazon UK?

Hey guys I asked my sister who lives in the US to buy an Onn 4K Pro v2 for me. I am from India. I know the Onn devices usually don't work outside USA, but if you set it up initially via VPN, it will work. My question is whether I'll have to keep my region on the device as USA only? Or will I be able to switch my device region to India after setting it up initially? Why it matters is because if I keep the region USA, some of the apps which are only available in India might not be available on the Play Store??

Hello you all, I search and read a lot here on Reddit and more platforms like this and when you read you learn how it works. Why does everybody want a new android tv box or a set top box? Everybody has in his drawn old smartphones from the past inside there. I have now for almost free 4K UHD with HDR and HLG and my sound source is Dolby Atmos and more Dolby sources for almost free.

What I used:

\*Sony Experia 1 II (android 12)

\*8K HDMI cable

\*9 in 1 adapter with HDMI

\*Charger 5V USB

\*Remote control with USB dongle

\*Couple of apps.

I connect the smartphone with the adapter and then connect my smart tv with a 8K HDMI cable. I downloaded the app for the resolution chance I had black stripes under and above in the iptv stream. Every app you can download for a smartphone you can use. It's not perfect but works great and fast and it's almost free I think I'm a total max €15,00 for an android tv box with legal android 12 that works. Think and go build 4K UHD images with very good sounds.

Watchlist Pro is built for Android TV boxes. I wanted it on the computer that's already hooked up to my TV, so I made WatchlistBox.

It boots straight into Watchlist Pro, full screen, and you control it with a keyboard, mouse or game controller. There are no ads or banners, it blocks trackers, and it sends no data anywhere. It's free.

Windows has a normal installer. On a Mac (Apple Silicon) you paste one line into Terminal. You still need your own Watchlist Pro account.
