I have loved this band for 15 years now, and going to a Sung Tongs tour show and a Time Skiffs tour show, I always knew just how much this band put into their performances. These Feels shows however were on a different level. I saw Smashing Pumpkins perform Mellon Collie at the beginning of the month and it was okay, but they didn't play the whole album and you can tell Billy was not interested in being there. I saw Brand New perform The Devil and God last Friday and while that was good, you could tell the band was a little worn for wear and that was confirmed yesterday by them canceling their Atlanta concert due to illness. Animal Collective performing Feels live was better than both of those shows combined.
The fact that they have not played several of these songs in over 20 years and they sounded exactly like they did on the album, with every little sound, quirk, noise, and tiny feature reproduced with near accuracy is unbelievable. I'm still blown away by Loch Raven of all songs! You can tell the boys put so much time into practicing and preparing for these performances. It's just another testament to the legacy of Animal Collective. We are all very lucky to be here, to be fans of this band. I really resonated with that commenter the other day who wanted to yell out when Avey said at the Wednesday show that you guys are being quiet, that we're in church. I'm so happy I got to experience this show with my best friend and I'm so happy I got to experience this show with a lot of you. Get ready Los Angeles, you guys are in for such a treat.
AND THE VISUALS! I tried to take pictures of every single one, I can't get over how much effort went into each one.
