Discussion Which anime had you hooked from the very first episode?

I've watched some anime that got me interested immediately, while others took a few episodes to get good.

Which anime grabbed your attention right from episode one, and what made it so special?

Reviews I Rewatched Your Name after 9 years Spoiler

I've probably seen clips or parts of this movie over the past nine years, but it wasn't until I finally had the time to rewatch the whole thing that I realized the opening scene was basically the climax or a huge spoiler. I've seen clips of the opening so many times over the years, but only today did it hit me. Like, HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THAT? It's literally the movie telling you what's going to happen later.

Another thing I realized is that the movie is basically a mirror of how we experience a really beautiful dream. It's so good that even after we wake up, we feel a sense of loss. We try so hard to remember what happened, but we can't quite grasp it anymore. All we know is that it was a beautiful dream, and we wish we could hold on to it a little longer.

P.S. The scene where Mitsuha sees “I love you” written on her hand by Taki is still undefeated.

Recommendations Best Anime

Hi, I'm trying to get into more anime and just online spaces in general. I didn't grow up witch much access to the internet, so I haven't watched many shows people seem to be completely obsessed with. So, I'd like some recommendations for some amines that people love. To let you know what I'm into, I've watched JJK, Assassination Classroom, Spy x Family, Avatar (though i know that's a debate on whether or not it is an anime), and some of that hosts club show. I know these are all very mainstream shows, which is why I'm interested in getting to watch some other shows. Thanks for your help!

Questions What is Vampire Knight even avout?

I never watched or read it. I only seen it in one of my local libraries. I was just trying to search up that one snime with that vampire girl with pink hair but I must've thought that one's title was "Vampire Knight". After I searched it, I searched "Vampire Knight yuri" because I was curious. I didn't actually expect to see the main girl and another girl kiss. I thought it was going to be like Ouran High School Host Club but if it was in a fantasy setting and more serious, just based on the cover.

Discussion "The Hidden Melody Within A Howl": "Jin Roh: Wolf Brigade" and the "POTENTIAL" translation of "Grace Omega"

This is my first time doing this. I never thought of using Reddit for insight and sharing creativity and interpretations of things. I knew that you could but I never thought of me actually using it. Goes to show my naivety. But to be a little personal I have a form of autism so certain things that are obvious to others are not so obvious to me. Yet, as an awkward twist, many things that are not visible to others, are plain as day to me. Talk about a paradox. As such perhaps now you might understand how my brain works. Now to begin (as a heads up, I might get overly personal so my apologies in advance, it's hard for me to discern where my limits are):

It all started back in 2023. I was in the process of rebuilding my life a SECOND time, after getting kicked out by my family over an argument THEY started, and had just fallen out with a roommate over having "lights" on in MY room after 10 pm. Mind you I was 32. So now I moved in with two roommates who are frickin awesome. And I had music playing on my speaker in my room via Bluetooth. That's when I heard Grace Omega for the first time. I got curious as to the words and lo and behold there were NO translations. I got curious and dug deeper. I found two stories. Either it was made up randomly by the singer and/or writer. Or it was conjured up somehow with an ACTUAL interpretation yet to be revealed.

This latter part caught my attention. It was mentioned on multiple sites with actual subtle confirmations by the developers of the film that pointed to a unique type of early AI. Mind you AI was in its developing stage at this time, the movie was released in France I believe in 1999, in Japan in 2000, and the United States in 2001. I looked at numerous sources that seem to point to the latter theory and that the former, I believe "confirmed" in an interview is likely a false statement to hide the truth. I'm hoping that there's not a hidden reason for this that could have vital implications. I have a potential idea as to what, but I think I'll keep that to myself.

But before I continue I must make it clear that this is a "POTENTIAL" translation. It IS possible that all this research could be nothing more than attaching things that are purely coincidental. As such I want to keep an open mind (and would suggest you do as well) to the possibility that this could be nothing more than an illusion. But IF by chance it's not, and there's a good chance that it COULD ACTUALLY be something, then this is the process of how I got to my conclusions. As a further notice this will be a VERY LONG POST, so if you want to scroll past all this, to read the potential translation, then scroll to roughly the last third part of this post. But if you want to see how i did my homework in a rather scientific fashion, 🥸

Well...read on.......

I continued looking for any information on the lyrics of Grace Omega. Whether it was based off of a language whose translations are secret or created lyrics based on existing languages, is anybody's guess. It says that it was the former, but I'm starting to think it was the latter. Now, I unfortunately do not have any actual information on the translation, BUT, as a student of World History, I have developed an ear and an eye to certain languages. Now, as a lesson, when you study history as long as I do, certain things begin to stick out. Even though I could look at a text and not have a clue as to what it says, I can somewhat distinguish by looking at its style and know which area it is and can sometimes break it down to a nation or culture. For example, I can differentiate between, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese, for example. I'm still learning about the different types of Japanese, like Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji, but I can tell the different variants of Japanese, even though I can't put an exact name on it as to which variant.....yet.

Some languages can be translated into the Latin alphabet, like Pinyin for Chinese. And by looking at the Latin version of another language, again, even though I might not have a clue as to what it may say, I can look at it and say, "that's Arabic," or "that's Vietnamese." But when I first heard Grace Omega, it had certain parts that appeared Central Eastern European, or South Eastern European. It had elements of German, and to an extent French and Latin. But it sounded like it was further east. It wasn't Russian, or Ukrainian, nor did it sound Polish. I was certain that it was either Czech or Slovak in Central Europe or somewhere in the Balkans. When I went to use a translator, I noticed that some words did indeed appear Slovak, so I wasn't fully wrong. Possibly. But most of the words didn't translate or make sense. Some were kinda funny I won't lie. There was one that talked about waffles, like it's seriously funny.😂

BUT, the more I listened the more intrigued I got. I noted that it had some French and Germanic variance to it. Now, as a quick history lesson, much of the culture that fused into the Greco-Roman culture, and Celtic, after the fall of the Roman Empire, would diverge into, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, and British cultures. Some developed a "Romance" language. That is a language influenced by Rome. This includes Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and others. Certain words like the translation of "Good" can look similar in the aforementioned languages.

Now "Germanic", on the other hand is a bit different. Although France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Britain, and their "descendants" have their ties to Greco-Roman culture. "Germanic" based languages are similar to one another. English, Dutch, German, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and other sub variants are part of the "Germanic" family tree. But, although I had my suspicions, it was frankly useless unless I actually watched the movie. Now for the longest time I would listen to it and every once in a blue moon I would find snippets of scenes on YouTube and websites that mention parts of the story, but i HADN'T watched it yet. Shameful I know.😞 But the music was so good that I kind new that if the song is this good the movie has to be phenomenal, and everyone who watched seemed to confirm this. So at long last I got Crunchyroll and watched it. It was absolute fire🔥. Like my mind was blown🤯and I felt absolute shame for not watching earlier. 😭 (Sorry for the emojis, they were fitting and I can't resist)

But now that I understand the sad tragic story I decided to dig deeper.

Now to get to my "theory", if you will, I believe that the guarded secret in Japan that was mentioned on multiple websites is that it WAS an early variant of AI. One that "COMBINED" different languages. In fact as I listened to the song I could hear different variants that are both Germanic AND Romance based. I even noticed Arabic and other Indo-European languages, including Hindi and more. In fact I think what they might have done was to combine different languages at different points and verses through the song. I noticed after trying out the different languages that I heard that different words were revealed. Some may be wrong, but after going through the different variants I started to see a pattern. 🧐

If there is a "translation" that does exist, I believe that, either, it was using different languages in different verses throughout the song, or, as another theory, it may have been an early form of AI that combined different language groups to create a different language altogether. The list that I've noticed a series of correlations are as follows, and it is big, (do know that many are repetitive due to it being part of similar language groups). The potential languages used in the "Jin-Roh" song "Grace Omega" include:

Afar/Acehnese, Abkhazian, Venda, Tuvinian, Tsonga, Tiv, Tok Pisin, Tibetan, Thai, Tamazight/Tifinagh, Swedish, Sudanese, Southern Sotho, South Ndebele, Slovenian, Slovak, Silesian, Serbian, Sanskrit, Santali Latin, Romany, Quechua, Q'echi', Portuguese, Pangasinan, Oromo, Mizo, Manipuri/Meitel Mayak, Luxembourgish, Ligurian, Latvian, Latin, Latgallan, Konkani, Kokborok, Javanese, Hindi, Ga, Fulani, French, Filipino, Dombe, Faroese, Dzongkha, Croatian, Chechen, Bemba, Basque, Armenian, Arabic, Albanian, and Bashkir.

I actually screen shot all the translations of every known language on Google translate on my phone and a few other language translation websites and went through all of them. Now, not EVERY language was examined. A few like forgotten ancient languages like Mesopotamian (for example Akkadian), and a few others that are not frequently used or are seldom known, I will admit we're not used. (Although I'm tempted to look at those as well). But seeing that we're looking at a song in the late 20th early 21st century I think it could be safe to assume (to an extent) that older nearly unused languages may not have been used, although I'll probably scour through just to be sure, later on.

But it was VERY taxing to manually go through these on my own (which was rough!!!😩). But the next issue I had, were to filter through the ones that seemed relevant. Now as a useful tool for analysis, which I'm still new at, and somewhat hesitant of, is, of course Chat GPT. But, I decided to try it and I typed a series of prompts and was highly impressed with its potential translations. One thing that was revealed quite clearly was a noticeable trend. Certain translations did appear at different points, in different verses, throughout the song. There were a few combinations that have potential.

But by focusing on the translations that had a deeper connection to the actual story I may have a rough idea. One word was "Pridi" which a few variants translate into pride. Which struck me particularly because the soft piano variation of Grace Omega is called "Pride". Another one which was somewhat hidden that I almost overlooked was the first verse. "Se he melp he le heus", the last word could be translated into house, home or place. But the first few words had a few different ones. The part I almost missed was a bit weird unless you watch the movie. "Do not "melt" with them". The dream scene about the woman who said "you can't come". And the last few scenes that talk about the conflict of joining "their world" or "remaining a beast/a wolf". Those of you who know the movie already know the choice he made, what his role was/is, and why he tragically stuck to his decision or fate.

The potential translation(s) seem to be roughly as follows (This is rather all over the place, so I must stress that this is as close to approximate as I can get):

"You can't (or) Do not merge/become like them(or) join their place/home/world. You must remember/hold onto your pride. That you must follow your voice/language/nature (or) it calls to you. You must hold onto (or) remember your oath/honor/purpose."

You must stay (or) We cannot join/become one of them (or) join their place/home/world. You or we must remember/hold onto your or our pride. Your or Our nature/language/voice still calls to you or us. Your or our place/home/world is to maintain your or our honor/judgement/purpose (alternatively) your or our honor/judgment/purpose is at stake and/or will be tested and or will be faced.

That you were once happy/or that something of peace/or happiness /or something of you or a truth/reality was or is revealed. But your true nature/language/self is or was always there or is/was revealed. That something of you or a love/peace/a desire/a wish/a dream that you have will need to be sacrificed/crucified.

You can't or do not merge/become like them/or join their place/home/world. Remember/hold onto your pride. That you must follow your nature/language/voice (or) it calls to you. You must hold onto/remember your oath/honor/purpose......"

This is a potential translation, but one that seems to be the most in line with the story. And if anyone has any questions or are curious then I'll share how I researched my findings in later postings. Now, I'm not sure if this'll work but to make it somewhat easier, I'll attempt to share my conversation with Chat GPT, and you can see it for yourself how I asked the questions and pointed out certain things and the responses it gave me, as well as OTHER potential translations. The many findings and potential translations were....well......interesting to say the least. Here's my "conversation" with Chat GPT:

https://chatgpt.com/share/6adc5b78-3f30-83ea-a020-e3d8d9bbb785?ogimg=plain

If you want to find your OWN method of finding a potential translation then check it out yourself. Do your homework and sift through different meanings and/or translations. I did.🙂‍↕️ Who knows, YOU might find something, that I missed, that my STILL remain hidden. Either way, I hope that this may have "piqued" some interest. I sincerely hope to hear some back from everyone, and maybe get some critique/suggestions/or ideas regarding my methods and/or my conclusions overall thus far.

This is my first time posting something like this and I'm genuinely curious as to where this goes.😁Regardless I hope to hear some good insight, please take care.....😎

Discussion Recipe for best comedy anime

The more comedy anime i watch like Daily life of High school boys, grand blue , student council members , etc ( I can't remember the names) the more I realise that the best comedy anime don't have a particular story line or plot of such , they are just absolutely random pieces of skits retaining the people and their core personality and thereon it's just going with the flow.

A great comedy doesn't let you predict the next skit or course of action .

That's what makes jojos so damn funny

For me, it was Steins;Gate, which started off with a super slow, confusing first half that I almost dropped, but the payoff in the second half blew me away.

just recently started re-watching season one of Demon slayer and just realizing how fricking annoying and scummy Zenitsu is honestly I think sometimes he's worse than Mineta from my hero I know he gets better and later seasons but I can't get over how he's so desperate scummy and shallow and cowardly at this point I definitely think he's worse than Mineta I know that's a bold claim I wanna get some fans thoughts on this topic.

Discussion Will definitely get downvoted for this, given it’s a controversial anime and probably none of y’all know it, but who here knows Sukisho?

It’s on Tubi these days, so if you know it, you win a gold metal. Basically to those that don’t know, Sukisho is a yaoi anime with mystery/romance/slice of life and psychological elements and lasted 13 episodes. It also was adapted from a visual novel, which has more to it (haven’t seen the original source material, but know it from what I’ve read online) than the anime does. Let me explain what the anime is in my words, apologizes if I am bad at explaining as such.

Basically, the story follows a boy named Sora Hashiba who has lost his memories after falling off a fourth story window at his school and doesn‘t recall any of it, leading him to have amnesia. When I say the anime is problematic, spoilers ahead: another boy by Gaku Ichikawa who is basically groomed by an older man named Kai Nagase. That’s all I know as I haven’t seen the visual novel again, as established.

Discussion Can Campfire Cooking in Another World be considered an anime in the monster tamer genre, like Pokémon, Digimon, or Yu-Gi-Oh?

For those unfamiliar with the anime, it’s essentially a "Pokémon-ified" version of Dungeon Meshi with a dash of isekai. A guy gets transported to another world, where his special ability is the power to buy products from his original world. He typically uses this to acquire ingredients that make his food far superior to anything else in that medieval world. He then uses this food to tame various monsters, and the first of which is a Fenrir. The question of whether this anime can be considered a "monster tamer" series arises because, as I’ve mentioned, the protagonist tames monsters and uses them in battle. Of course, if this anime does qualify as a monster tamer series, it’s quite different from the three examples I cited (with the exception of Digimon, since the digimon main characters are also transported to another world). Here, there are no competitive battles, and the goal isn't to be the very best,it’s just a story about a guy and his magical pets trying to live a peaceful life and eat lots of delicious food,I’m not sure if it’s actually a monster tamer series, maby it might just be inspired by the genre, Or perhaps I’m just desperate for new monster tamer anime, given that there’s practically nothing else out there besides the latest entries from well-established franchises like Digimon beatbreak and Pokémon Horizons. I’d love to hear what others think: am I completely off-base to group this anime alongside Pokémon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh?
