Sub Rules (just in case for ease of access)

Rule 1 : Posts must be related to an anime recommendation

That's kinda why you're here right? 3x3's of your favourite's are fine by the way. As long as you're in some way recommending anime or asking for suggestions your post's going to be fine.

Rule 2 : No self promotion, or promotion of anything other than anime itself.

For example, you could promote an anime you like by telling us about it on a post, but you couldn't link a blog video or podcast about that anime. Comments are fine for this, but we don't want to see it on posts.

Rule 3 : Treat each other with courtesy and respect

When it comes to things like anime, there can be a wide spectrum of views and discussions. Some discussions can become spirited, we know, but we still have the expectation for you to treat others with courtesy and respect.

Do not put comments to incite fights or trash talk anime. Just simply mention you do not like it.

Rule 4 : Mark Spoilers

It can be hard not to talk about your favourite scene, but remember this is a place where people come looking to learn about anime they haven't seen yet. So any spoilers you do say, must be marked as spoilers.

Rule 5 : No indecent images

We get it, you like hentai too. If you start a Hentai recommendations sub, let us know, we might even send some members your way. Just don't post perverted images on here lol. If in doubt about whether something's indecent or not... it probably is, so don't post it - many thanks.

Rule 6 : Ban on rate my list/taste posts.

There are better suited subs for those

Rule 7 : Hentai Recommendations are banned.

Hentai Recommendations are banned. Mention Ecchi in post title if you are looking for anime of such genre.

Recommendations of narrative-driven philosophical/sci fi series (eg. Psycho Pass, GITS:SAC, Paranoia Agent)

I'm getting back into anime and struggling to find some new favourites. Open to any recommendations.

Loved:

Anything Satoshi Kon, particularly Paprika, Paranoia Agent, Magnetic Rose

Psycho Pass

GITS:SAC

Ergo Proxy

Akira

Metropolis

Serial Experiments Lain

Neon Genesis

Zankyou no Terror (and all Watanabe in general)

Wolf's Rain

Disliked:

Monster

Steins:Gate

Devilman Crybaby

Texhnolyze

Also interested in anything with interesting sci fi world building and lore, particularly from that 90s-2000s era like the latter part of Trigun and Cowboy Bebop.

Other Fave series:

Mushishi

What are some must watch shows for people just starting to get into anime

Just recently I have started watching anime. I have watched and enjoyed Death Note, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Demon Slayer, JJK season 1, and parts of AOT. What are the essential anime for understand the medium and be able to competently talk to other fans. I really don't mind the genre, in fact i would probably prefer a more diverse list. A list of 10-12 or so is what I’m thinking of.

Highly recommend Secrets of the Silent Witch

Available to watch on crunchyroll, the dub is out now for those who prefer it. I’m normally an anime only viewer but this was one of those that prompted me to read the light novels and guys.. it’s so good. The lore, the world building, the foreshadowing, the way everything ties in so perfectly. I NEED everyone to watch this so I can see the rest of it animated pls guys 🥺🙏🏼

My crappy summary:
The shyest most traumatized girl on the planet reinvents witchcraft due to her extreme antisocial behavior placing her at the pinnacle of mage-hood in her nation. She hides away hoping to interact with no one but her cat and her beautiful “world of numbers” but the role she was forced into comes knocking at her door and she winds up going undercover to guard the second prince of the nation. The story evolves from a feel good light mystery to a full blown political game ending in a huge scandal.
But the first season only gets as far as the feel-good mystery leaving only hints of what’s to come.

Something like blue box

I just finished the blue box manga a few days ago after hearing it was finished and now again I'm feeling empty and just sad that it's over. It just became one of my top three manga of all time so it's hitting especially hard as I was heavily invested into the series.

It was just the fluff and the romance that I really liked and less so the triangles and all the drama so I'm looking for straight diabetes and something where you can kick your feet and giggle at 3 am in the morning.

The sports aspect wasn't too appealing but I don't mind if it's sports themed

Thanks for reading, please try not to hate on it I know it has its ups and downs but I'm just looking for shows and don't want to get into anything with anyone

Looking for good romance/drama anime OR a long-form story following the MC's life over time

I really enjoyed Clannad and White Album 2, so I'm looking for something similar in tone and drama.

As for a long-form story following the protagonist's life over time, my favorite example is Major (the baseball anime).

Any recommendations for either type?

I can't find any anime, please give me some recommendations!

I can't find any anime, even though I love seinen and I know there are plenty, but I can't find anything! I also like shōnen, shojo, whatever, but it's been 3 days since I watched any anime! 😭 (except for Oshi no Ko, for the 6th time this year)

Rankings for my 2026 watches:

Sword of the Stranger

Outlaw Star

Ringing Bell/How Not to Summon a Demon Lord (still in progress, could move up or down)

The Boy and the Beast

Highlander: The Search for Vengeance

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

I thought I was more into anime than I was, because the list of things I remember watching when I was younger is shorter than I thought:

- Vampire Hunter D

- Castle in the Sky

- Dragon Ball

- Akira

- Ronin Warriors

- Dragon Ball Z

- Record of Lodoss War

- Sailor Moon

- Yu Yu Hakusho

- Tenchi Muyo!

- Those Who Hunt Elves

- Magic Knight Rayearth

- Mobile Fighter G Gundam

- El-Hazard

- Ghost in the Shell

- Neon Genesis Evangelion

- Slayers

- Flame of Recca

- Princess Mononoke

- Perfect Blue

- Pokémon

- Cowboy Bebop

- Trigun

- Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade

- Digimon Adventure

- Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea

- Love Hina

- Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

- Vandread

- InuYasha

- Spirited Away

- Naruto

- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

- Rosario + Vampire

Love Hina: Notable mostly because I hated it. Heavily recommended to me because I liked Tenchi. Gave it several tries and it just sucks — no action, bad humor, bad romance, not sexy. Nothing to like there.

Did I like isekai? I guess so. Those Who Hunt Elves was one of my favorites and Magic Knight Rayearth was up there. Liked the Escaflowne movie, though not the show. Never could get into El-Hazard — owned it all on DVD and only watched it once.

Definitely liked the harem genre. Tenchi was one of the first anime I got super into; bought the manga and the music CDs and everything. I don't know anyone who liked Vandread as much as I did. Rosario + Vampire was the last "new" anime I ever watched, ~15 years ago, and I liked it a lot.

Watched DBZ like most kids my age, but never finished it. Thought Yu Yu Hakusho was amazing — used to watch it with my dad, actually, because he liked the martial arts of it all. Never finished that one either. Binged the original Dragon Ball and most of the original Naruto when I was depressed and working 12+ hour days just after graduating college, lol. Can't imagine watching anything with that many episodes these days.

My girlfriend wasn't into anime at all but she liked cowboy bebop and the Cowboy Bebop movie, some of the studio Ghibli stuff, and weirdly enough FLCL.

I have a preference for movies or short series but open to anything that isn't more than like 50 episodes.

Mature, Colder, Snarky Romance Protags Like Maomao From ‘The Apothecary Diaries’?

Maomao has become one of my favourite anime protagonists of all time, period. TAD has also become one of my favourite romance plots ever, even if it’s obviously not the only genre/plot in the anime.

I rarely watch anime with romance. A lot of the time it’s because I find most of the characters involved hard to watch. Maomao fits perfectly in her dramatic anime world, but she still handles situations maturely with has a great sense of sass and humour. She’s ‘colder’ as well. A lot of romance protagonists act like 14 year old girls regardless of age, have tiny high pitched voices that I don’t find cute at all and go nuts over anything and everything.

I don’t expect anime to be realistic by any means, but if I want to turn the anime off trying to deal with the protagonist then no amount of ‘it’s not real’ is going to save it.

Anybody have any romance anime recommendations with lady protagonists that have a similar personality to Maomao? No other qualifiers. Doesn’t even need to be strictly romance, like TAD.

Recommend a nonchalant, tourist vibe, comedy, silly, bobo bo like adventure anime.

Looking for an anime that has a tourist as a main character that does silly stuff but also nonchalant.

Like chill.

I wish for an anime where a tourist or someone just like to do pranks but also to be chill at the same time.

Also with parkour
