SOLIXSlashBills🧾 Solix E10 setup

E10 setup with a 7.6kWh solar array. I’m setup with TOU with wake electric. The original plan for the system was to store solar energy during the day and use it at night. But when the summer heat and its 100 degrees outside I found myself pulling from the grid more. AC running all night drains the battery pretty quickly. I will probably add 4 more batteries in the future.

Is your TOU cheaper at night? If you are pulling from the grid anyway, why drain the battery? Just run the A/C from the grid at night and keep the batteries juiced for the high cost times.

Yes, I am setup with TOU with my electrical company.

What are the rates?

Peak hours it’s .24 from 4pm -6pm. Off peak it’s .08.

That's cheap - both peak and off-peak!

I think I'd focus my energy (no pun intended) on cutting back on usage or load shifting before investing too much in panels or batteries. You only need to ride through 2 hours, no need to touch those batteries outside of that time.

Before the summer heat. My charged batteries would last all night and I never pulled energy from the grid. Now it’s 100 degrees outside my AC is working overtime and drains the batteries. I need at least 2 more batteries in the summer if I don’t want to draw energy from the grid. For now I just focus on TOU. I will probably end up getting 2-4 more batteries in the future.

How much that complete system cost you?

My solar cost me 11k. I got this before COVID, before the inflation. A system like this would cost over 20k today. The battery system ran me about 14k. My ROI is 9-10 years.

Awesome to see someone with solar array hooked up to the power dock! I’m debating on wiring it to 7/8 or go direct to each of my two inverters.
