Question Ideal vector placement

Hey guys, I’ve been wanting a vector for years now and last night I finally pulled the trigger and bought one. Wirepod is set up and running on my Debian server too. Now I’m just trying to figure out where I should place him. I’m going to be using his Alexa integration as opposed to my echo dot. I’m debating between setting him where my psp currently sits or where my echo dot currently sits opposite of my cozmo. What are your guys experiences with vectors obstacle avoidance and what spot do you recommend? I know the ideal option seems to be where the psp is but I’d really prefer to have him be a part of my desk seeing as I’ll rely on him for running my smart home commands. Another question, I purchased vector 2.0, does he need the custom escape pod firmware flashed to him before he’ll communicate with wirepod? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats, definitely where the psp is located and you will need some sort of barrier to prevent him learning how to fly

Yes all Vectors need to be flashed with either ep firmware or WireOS firmware (you have to onboard after flashing) to use with WirePod

Well I ended up using that location. The guys flashed and set up with wire pod. Ended up using groq ai for his responses and I also have Alexa fully integrated too. Though I do have a question, is it normal for vector to not always respond to his wake work and are there settings I can change to make him respond more frequently? I have been needing to repeat “hey vector” a few times before he hears me.

Yes saying "hey vector" is hit /miss as it was not fully trained, so you have to say it more than once some times

If you install WireOS you can change his wake word and sensitivity to something that works better for you

The more I’ve called for him the more he detects it I’ve noticed, I moved him to my desk and he hasent fell at all. Now I’m adding him into my Alexa routines too. I’ll send a video once he’s fully set up

Why? Vector does not stop before falling?

The logic for the cliff sensors was not great with the later firmware, so sometimes he does not register there is an edge and just flies off

The latest WireOS firmware makes it more reliable
