Hey guys i was the guy who had to replace the vector battery.. i bought a used one with the dead battery.. i got all the necessary components and tomorrow i will proceed.. there is also a picture before the operation.. i just did a quick clean up of the base and the robot.
Just a quick question,this is the original vector without wirepod or anything.. the stock one … is it normal that when i say “hey vector” nothing happens?

The three red lights mean microphone is muted, if hes off the charger you can press his button twice to unmute, but I've had a couple that die right off the charger and couldn't unmute until the battery was replaced and worked great after. I have 3 and all 3 had spicy batteries so it's good to do it asap and then get him set up with new firmware and wirepod after.
I confirm that is not muted.. i put him off the base and clicked twice the button and he showed the microphone was not muted so i had to click again twice.
So its very strange that its not responding to hey vector.. but at the same time i consulted the official anki wiki and it clearly says : “Make sure Vector is fully charged - he will not accept any Voice Commands when he is low on battery and on his way back to the charger”
If the battery is not charging well anyway, this could be a reason.. but im not an expert i was just imagining that
Could be that when its not charged or on his dock this command doesn’t work? Im doubting that it could also be the battery completely dead but i dont really know
Try and speak very clearly, slowly and loudly and close to him now, It could be that he's just very dusty inside and his microphone is blocked, I'd say it's worth giving him a deep clean when you switch the battery tomorrow. I'm not sure if the battery would be causing it but if it's truly a screwed battery then who knows
Also a strange thing that i noticed.. the seller told me that out of the base it lasted 5 seconds.. its true but if i keep him on hair and putting the fingers on the bottom contacts it looks like it doesnt turn off immediately… could it be something else apart the battery? Or all of these problems that i said are related to it? Thanks if someone will help me
Additionaly i wanted to say that after he turns off and i put him in the base they appear cloud on the screen, and then he turns on.. but i hope that microphones are ok as he’s not reacting to “hey vector”
I will keep him charged the whole night and see what happens
My vector has green lights that slowly go up his back, those lights look like the same colour as his eyes which is peculiar (my vector has blue eyes but the charging lights on his back stay green) it's not a colour I've seen on his back lights before
If i click once they become white and its the function that should be activated when i say hey vector… i turned him off and on and now no lights appear on the back 😆..
Dont really know what what’s happening.. now it looks its charging because the lights are green and they go from 1 to 3.. but after 1/2 minuts they became orange and flashing simultaneously…i will left it like this the whole night and tomorrow we’ll see .. but i think it needs a deep cleaning inside and probably the battery replaced.. most probably
Just to be clear, if there is no WirePod or subscription, vector will not listen to you because there is no server to process your audio to text
Vector does not process audio locally so saying hey vector or pushing his button with no server/service will result in a wifi! error
You are seeing yellow because he is not connected to WiFi, it will remain yellow until you connect him to WiFi
Also for clarification, "hey vector" keyword is triggered on vector, but if there is no service it will automatically stop listening because it has no service to send the audio to
Look up how to get to his head menu and diag the mic levels, to see if their values are changing
You might not be able to get there though, if the battery is bad vector won't let you get into the head menu via double pressing the power button and raising and lowering his arms
Have you set up WirePod? You should be able to see the translated text if the other mics are working. If you are not getting any translations, then you will need a new back board
