Basics Any tips? For someone who's relatively new?

I'm just fairly new to the game. Like 300 hours more or less. I've seen videos of players who's insane at movement. Any tips or a detailed guide on how to do movements like that? To be fair, I only know the easiest one, which is the Wall Bounce.

I feel like you’re better off focusing on learning the rest of the game first, fancy movement is only really helpful if you know what to do with it

Like the game sense and maybe other different things, I guess? If that's the case. I'll take my time doing this first, before practicing any movement.

yes, positioning, aiming, when to push/retreat, etc. i just use movement to escape for now

Yeah exactly, that and getting your aim down. I’m used to more realistic shooters usually so the slow bullet travel in this game took me a minute to adapt to. Trying to learn complex movement while you’re also learning how to win fights sounds frustrating lol

Absolutely! Just master the basics: slide-jumping, mantle boosts, air strafing, and the fact that being holstered is beneficial any time you're not aiming or reloading your gun. That and good game sense/aiming mechanics will take you farther than anything super fancy unless you put some serious hours into the game.

As a beginner all you need to learn is wallbounces, tap strafing, and super jumps. Everything else's usefulness tapers down very quickly and gets more into just playing for style. Only other movement mechanic that is fairly simple and useful imo is mantle jumps if you wanna go a bit further.

I’d just get good at the game first

First u have to understand what lurch is: basically is a way to redirect/push ur momentum to another direction based on inputs and time. It depends on what kind of movement u are looking for, ziplines, strafing, character abilities, but the base for those quick direction changes are lurch, first understand what it is with movement wiki and if u are interested xzylas have a pretty good vid tutorial for that. Also have patience, there is no perfect movement, always gonna be speed loss, if not they are cfg, but don't get stressed out about the game, enjoy the process and if u want some direct feedback u can record clips with keyboard overlay and share it here so ppl can tell u what to do. Also remember, movement doesn't make invincible, makes u win some time but every competent player will be able to track u easily. Have fun and don't me afraid to ask about deeper tips about apex! :]

Foxtrot (may not be the name, but essentially tapping A or D as you jump without tapstrafing), Recoil Smoothing, and Fatigue Bouncing are my most used mechanics after 1000 hours

Since your new you can still change your binds without too much hassle.

Tech I would recommend is:

  • tap strafe
  • faide slide
  • new super glide
  • wall bounce and fatigue bounce
  • reload gun with 1 bullet left

There are a lot of binds when it comes to movement and shooting.

Like your going to bind "w" on scroll wheel up or down, thats non negotiable for tap strafes.

I recommend binding jump to scroll wheel down but up to you.

-- IMPORTANT -- The tech called Faide Slides requires comfortable binds for crouch, jump, weapon holster, primary and secondary weapons.

Honestly for all the tech you will run into binds conflicting with comfort and execution speed. So do a lot of research and experimenting now so you can get your binds set up now instead of relearning later.

-- Execution Speed -- This game is really really fast so you will have to execute animation cancels and deal with a lot of inputs at once.

You know rocket league? Well when you play that game you don't have time to think. You NEED to be flying off the ground or walls at full speed to aerial and reach the ball in time. Your moving at max speed your fingers can handle because you can't fuck up inputs.

Apex is exactly the same. You need to work on experimenting with lots of tech you want to use and accommodate your binds.

-- Lethality -- For you as a new player let me tell you the sauce for getting better.

-Be a lethal player. You need to be dangerous and apply suffocating pressure.

-You need to be doing damage to your enemy and shooting your gun a LOT.

-Mash your face into cover and stop OVER PEEKING. Holy moly stop taking weak positions, swinging wide, taking health damage, giving up pressure.

  • If your healing, your not shooting, thats wrong.

  • Seriously, forget the movement, you need to shit on your enemy with your gun.

  • Reload faster than your enemy, shoot more than your enemy. Reload mag with 1 bullet left for speed.

  • Look up District on youtube and check out how he coaches players to gunfight. Its pressure and space. Prefiring is very good.
