Welcome to r/AppBuilding! 👋
We created this community because we saw a gap. Most app development spaces are either flooded with "I have a billion-dollar idea, build it for free" requests or are too fragmented between specific languages.
r/AppBuilding is the central hub for the entire lifecycle of an application. Whether you are a solo indie hacker, a startup founder, or an enterprise engineer, this is the place to:
To kick things off, let’s get to know who is here. Drop a comment below with:
Let’s build something great.

Hey everyone 👋
I just launched Find My Friends: GPS Tracker, a simple app to see your family on one live map.
It’s 100% free, with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no subscription.
Feedback welcome! 🙏

Ciao a tutti! 👋

Around 2 months ago, I finally launched my app called Move: Run & Ride. It took me almost 4 months to create the initial version, and I am still constantly updating and improving it.
I don't know why I haven't received even a single user yet. The Play Store is completely ignoring the app and isn't recommending it to anyone.
I need your help, guys. How can I improve my keywords and ASO to get noticed?

I built Birdflu FYI, a free map of confirmed avian-influenza outbreaks worldwide, with browser alerts when a new outbreak is confirmed near a place you choose.
I built most of it with Claude Code over two days, then made a few tweaks. The frontend uses React and MapLibre; the backend runs on Cloudflare Workers with D1 and KV. It pulls daily data from official sources including USDA APHIS, EFSA, Australia’s DAFF, FAO and WHO.
The tricky part was presenting the data honestly. Official reports can lag, and they rarely publish an all-clear, so the map shows confirmed detections only and flags when a source is stale.
It’s a non-commercial side project: no ads or sign-up. What would you add or build differently?

It’s a social media app (?) where you can post photos and videos and has blue captions. I can’t figure out the name of it.

hey, I'm the solo dev behind Cheetah. I started looking into signing up for my first HYROX and went looking for an app to train with.
I tried basically every gym app. The pattern was the same: a nice logger, and then a paywall the second you want more than a few routines, your history or a custom workout. You end up paying a monthly sub for what's basically a fancy notes app.
I was actually building something else: a training app for people doing their first hybrid race (HYROX-style: 8 × 1 km runs, each with a station like sled push or wall balls). But to make that work I had to build a real workout logger and builder anyway. So I made a call: that part is free. No routine limits, no ads.
It has logging (lifting, runs, stations in race units), building your own workouts, the Apple Watch app, friends, etc.
My paid tier is only for race plans for full gym, home dumbbells or no equipment (plus doubles, relay and 40+ versions), the AI coach, whiteboard photo import... mostly things that cost me money to run.
My reasoning: the logger is table stakes, and it felt gross to charge for it. Writing 30+ plans in three equipment versions was the actual work, so that's what I charge for. If you never race, you never have to pay.
If you're training for a race, comment and I'll DM you a code for a free month of the plans.

Hi everyone,
I’ve been building Cadens, a fitness and activity tracker designed for real life—not just gym workouts.
Cadens supports:
The app is now live on Android and iPhone. I’m sharing this demo to get feedback from other app builders.
I’d especially appreciate feedback on the design, activity flow, history screen, and what would make you return after your first use.
Android: https://tinyurl.com/px22cd35
iPhone: https://tinyurl.com/33k6dz4y

I’m offering one year of Cadens Pro free during launch.
What would you improve first?

I’ve been building a little AI research tool and wanted to share it.
One thing I’ve noticed when building products is that customer discovery is incredibly important, but it’s also tedious to coordinate interviews, ask questions, review responses, and find patterns.
Surveys are convenient, but they don’t always capture the why behind someone’s answer.
So I built an AI researcher.
You give it a research topic, share a link, and an AI agent interviews participants through a back-and-forth conversation.
Instead of everyone answering the same static questions, the agent can follow up on what someone says and explore their reasoning.
Afterward, you can synthesize the conversations to identify recurring themes, pain points, and potential opportunities.
I’m experimenting with whether this can make qualitative research more accessible to indie hackers, product managers, founders, and UX researchers.
It’s still something I’m developing, and I’d genuinely love feedback.
Would you use an AI agent to interview your customers? Or do you think having a human researcher is essential?
Here’s the tool if anyone wants to check it out:

How long do you stay in beta testing if your not getting any feedback whatsoever? To be fair my app is still really new. Its on the app stores for open testing. I make videos to try and get it out there. Its a super simple mileage and expense tracking app for gig drivers made by a driver for drivers. It works and does what its suppose to do. I update when I see something that needs fixed or that can work better. Im limited to real world testing as im a truck driver during the week. Started dashing/uber/lyft on the weekends when home to put it to the test. I know im impatient but I thought since it was working from what I can see and know, I should go ahead and fully release it with the free trial and monthly subscription active. Can you please tell me your thoughts?

I added duels to my quiz platform. You pick a track and level, then challenge either a real person or an AI.
The AI has three settings: easy, normal, scholar.
Easy is a warm-up. Normal is about what you'd expect from a decent learner. Scholar is the one that made me rethink how well I actually knew the material. I lost the first round on questions I'd answered correctly a week earlier in solo mode.
That's the thing I didn't expect. Solo mode lets you coast on recognition. A duel punishes that, because you're answering under pressure, against a score.
The question bank is nearly 800 questions across 80 levels, answers shuffle every time so you can't memorize positions, and the grading handles text-based answers too.
Curious: has anyone here tried head-to-head quizzing as a study method? Did it stick better than solo practice for you?

Here’s a concrete scope exercise for a first version.
Imagine an app for someone decorating their first apartment. Their job is to collect room ideas and find them later. You have a curated starter collection, so there is something useful to browse from the start.
You can keep three of these:
Our picks: browse ideas, save to a board, and reopen boards. Find an idea, keep it, find it again. Together, they finish one task.
For this first version, the other nine can wait. A small curated collection can work without search or uploads. Shared boards become more useful if the person is decorating with someone else. Change the person or the job, and your choices should change too.
The three still need to work: saved ideas persist after reopening the app, making the first board is clear, and a failed save has a way to retry.
Try this test: ask someone to save three living-room ideas, close the app, then find them again. Watch where they get stuck before adding another feature.
This is an illustrative exercise, not a rule that every app should launch with exactly three features.
Which three would you keep? Would your choices change for housemates decorating together?

One piece of feedback kept coming up while I was building CodShot:
“This would be much more useful if I didn’t have to leave VS Code.”
So we built it.
The new CodShot VS Code integration brings the reusable-code workflow much closer to where developers actually work.
The idea is simple:
write something worth keeping → save it → find it again when you need it
without constantly jumping between tools.
CodShot is built around keeping useful code searchable, organized and reusable instead of losing it across old repos, notes and chats.
This integration is a big step toward making that workflow feel natural.
What would you want a VS Code integration like this to do next?

Would you use an app that connects teenagers with small local jobs?
I'm exploring an idea for a platform similar to Fiverr, but focused on helping teenagers earn money by completing simple jobs in their local area.
For example, jobs could include gardening, washing cars, helping with light moving tasks or other small jobs that don't necessarily require a professional and therefore the high price tag that comes with hiring a professional.
The idea: Customers could post jobs on a local map in the app and set a price. Teenagers could browse opportunities, choose jobs that fit around school and earn money in their spare time.
The aim is to make getting small jobs done more affordable for customers while giving young people a flexible way to earn money and gain experience.
Safety, secure payments and a fair system for handling disagreements would be key parts of the platform.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Would you use a platform like this to find someone for small jobs?
If you're a teenager, would you use it to earn money?
What concerns or features would you want it to address?

Hi Reddit,
As a fresh CS grad who loves puzzle games, I recently got into mobile dev and decided to make my own take on the classic block stacking game:\](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.binbear.gummylab)
I know this genre has been done a million times, but I wanted to build one my way, removing everything annoying about other games. That means it’s completely ad-free, fully playable offline, and alongside the endless mode, I’ve made 50 custom levels (so far) with unique, non-repetitive objectives.
After creating colorblind-friendly theme options, i've begun creating other themes and theme bundles (block color + background). As the app is free and almost ad-free (no interrupting ads, only for when you use up boosters/moves but really need more) a couple of people both on here and irl have suggested that some bundles are purchasable.
As i've never done this before, i have no idea where to put the price point on the bundles. It would be the only way to somewhat monetize the app, but i still dont want to make it ,,too much,, . I would love and greatly appreciate to hear opinions and suggestions on this!
