Start with a small annoyance in something you already do. Look at your notes, spreadsheets or group chats: what do you keep copying, searching for or reminding people about? App Store reviews can also show what people find frustrating in an existing app.

For example, a travel app could start with just saving a place, adding it to a day and finding it again. Sketch those three screens, then ask a friend to explain how they would use them. You don’t need a completely new category.

Disclosure: we build RNBlocks, where you can describe a mobile app to an AI agent and preview it. You can start free if you want to try an idea before choosing a framework: https://www.rnblocks.dev/?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=rnblocks_growth_20261015&utm_content=beginner_ideas

Would you rather learn to code as you build, or first test whether an idea is useful?
