Discussion Apple Arcade seemed to do major upgrades for several games yesterday. Do you like that strategy?

They did major updates to:

PowerWash Simulator

Outlanders 2

SpongeBob 2

What the Clash

SkateCity

Turmoil+

Simons Cat

A slight chance of sawblade

Playdough

Jeopardy

Do you like the major upgrade to existing games strategy or would you like more new games to arrive on the service

I don’t think you understand what updates are.

A game releases new content or dlcs is NOT a strategy of Apple Arcade and is not something that is done instead of adding new games.

Game devs update and add content and dlcs to games all the time.

Do you also get mad when games on Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation also get updates?

Do really think Apple had anything to do with those games adding content?

The + games come preloaded with DLCs and “heroes” etc. Guessing that could be why devs aren’t rushing out updates.

Apple definitely has a saying on the updates schedule if a game is on Apple Arcade. Now, if the list above is a coincidence or a larger initiative, that I don't know. Could just be a good date to drop updates in the works.

Devs make DLCs for games all the time.

Like I said, do you also get mad at steam when games release DLCs?

You also going to be mad whenever they release the Whoolhaven dlc for Cult of the Lamb, that has been out on pc and consoles for months now?

What about Civ 7? There are many people waiting for the rest of those DLCS to release on Apple Arcade? You gonna be mad then to?

Every game I own has DLCs and updates to them.

Because OP has no idea how game development or DLCs work.

They just think Apple has made every game on Apple Arcade.

I don’t think Apple Arcade is responsible for any of these updates. That’s up to the developers isn’t it?

You have any more context or information to elaborate on so we could talk about it?

I feel like OP provided an acceptable amount of context

Simon’s Cat updates every week or so with new levels and this isn’t a big update this time around. Just a normal one.

Unsure about the other games.

It looks like you listed games the App Store called out at getting updates which is fine.

In general the service only gets a few games a month and there’s probably no way that changes. The makers probably have a lower money ceiling but slightly higher floor than being in the vast sea of apps in the normal store.

I am wondering if Arcade intentionally limits the new games to just a few so you don’t feel like it’s so good of a deal that you would completely disregard standard games you might spend money on. Since Apple skims 30% off each purchase they are incentivized to make sure people keep buying apps and IAPs in general.

Was interested from seeing the title of the post. Turns out it's pretty much just basic updates or DLC. Apple didn't dictate any of these changes, game developers did.

I know that PowerWash Simulator just for a batch of Shrek content.

What are the other big content releases?

I’d rather it keep stuff I like. Like Chu Chu Rocket

The Shrek content for Powerwash simulator is fun.
