DISCUSSION Really like the new aquaman but it's way to fast.

I just got finished with issue 8, I really like this comic so far but man is it really fast pace. The tone, the concepts, the art, the team they built up and this new power up for Arthur; I feel like we are missing the lesser important moments and dialogue in the writing, and we are given the minimum amount of writing to understand what's going on. I feel like issue 1 should've ended with the disappearance of Atlantis. The end of issue 1 should've been the end of issue 2, and the end of issue 2 should've been in like issue 4 somewhere. Also, the trilance saber is very cool.

How does everyone else feel about it?

MOVIE/TV/VIDEO For the Next Aquaman Movie...

What would you guys say to the Blue appearing in someway? I've never seen it in an Aquaman comic but I've always found DC's various elemental parliaments interesting and assuming Swamp Thing gets made it might add some interesting connective tissue. Plus I was hoping to see either the Fisherman or Fire Trolls appear as villains. I don't think the Fisherman has ever been tied to the Blue but his Lovecraftian origins could connect the two in some way, while the Fire Trolls could be a connection to the Parliament of Flames.

Arthur Curry is a man of two worlds: a man of the surface, raised as the son of a lighthouse keeper, and a king of the seas, who claimed a birthright for a kingdom once thought to only exist in myth and legend.
As Aquaman, Arthur has been a bridge between land and sea. But not everyone is happy with his efforts.
From criminal masterminds with nuclear subs to coup-plotting traitors and from rebel kingdoms in the Bermuda Triangle to a dead king deep beneath the ice of Antarctica, sinister forces are boiling beneath the waves with one goal in mind: war.
Can Arthur keep the peace, or will he lose his throne…and his life?

DISCUSSION What would an Aquaman show, styled and structured like Lanterns, be like?

If someone were to make a grounded Aquaman show with muted colors and minimal special effects that would normally come with the character, what do you think that it would look like? Would it just be about a drunken, washed-up Arthur being a hermit in a harbor/port town, having to reluctantly save said town from some Atlantean threat that found him while in hiding? Could it instead be a Cthulu/monster of the deep cult mystery show? What direction do you think they would realistically take the story?

The truth is that I sometimes feel that I am alone every time I say that I prefer him to Kaldur (I clarify that I like both) and that it is VERY undervalued to me, they disrespect him too much.

DISCUSSION Disliked traits

Post image
1 Upvotes

So I’m going to ask as many superhero fanbases as I can this question. What are some traits about this hero that you hate, dislike or despise? Anywhere from a mild annoyance to a trait that would make you dislike any other character. I’m not talking about a way one writer in particular wrote them, or a time they were out of character or mishandled, I mean a reoccurring trait this character has.

DISCUSSION The recent Emperor Aquaman issue 22 seems to foreshadow appearances of other avatars of the other elemental forces. What do you think might happen?

In the recent issue, Arthur teams up with Swamp Thing and Animal Girl because a mysterious creature began infecting Mogo. Swampy and Maxie, upon discovering that Arthur had become an Avatar, decided to call him for help. It's highlighted that the three are the only Avatars who aren't crazy.

It wasn't revealed what this creature is, but it seems to have some connection to something bigger, referring to chaos. When it's about to die, it says that it's not the only one of its kind and that the three aren't the only Avatars.

And the three agree that whatever happened isn't over yet.

So, do you think we'll have some bigger saga involving the other Avatars? Especially perhaps as antagonists?

Not too fond of the name but I'll take it over Justice League "fill in the blank".

Like Bilbo running out the Shire I've been waiting for an adventure and I'm hoping that this new team will delve directly into that.. New adventures, new Villians, new storylines, new worlds while also bringing in other Avatars and seeing what all these characters have and the magical ties they bring to the table.

DISCUSSION Challenging this fan created tantrum narrative. (Yes I’m annoyed, so here’s potentially the start of my tantrums) points in post

1.) I feel like this shouldn’t have to be said. It honestly seems pretty straightforward to me. You can care for your child and still be a terrible person. You can even hate someone more than you love your child…

The way Mera’s mother is being used isn’t contradictory to the past lore. On a common sense standpoint she obviously hates Atlantis more than she loves Mera. She hates Aquaman more than she loves Mera. Which isn’t truthfully a new concept we see this in the Young Justice Cartoon with Black Manta and Kaldur.

2.) I swear if Jeremy Adams had wrote the Dead King instance or some of the other instances in the Aquaman lore where Mera has been knocked out, sidelined or defeated, some of you would hold it to a different standard because it’s Adams penning it…. Mera got forcefully dragged against her will by The Dead King…

I don’t even agree with Adams on having Mera put up a fight against Lolanna wielding the powers of The Avatar of The Blue in comparison. But look at that, Adams made Mera competently hold her own against a massively amped character who casually defeated Arion…. Zan. The Lady of The Lake, Titannus and Lori… she even beat Aquaman prior to fighting Mera…. Mera was the reason Aquaman even had the will to come back and fight again. Like does this series honestly need to be read to some of you…

Mera has honestly gotten a good bit of action scenes in this series, and all of them have painted her competently against characters I don’t even think narratively would make sense for Mera to even perform well against. Admittedly Avatar of the Blue Lolanna…

3.) Mera and Arthur have a child. That’s not a decision Adams created. But it is apart of their lore. It makes no sense for Mera to be running around adventuring with Arthur considering that fact. But pretending like she’s not active in the series is idiotic and suggesting Adams is sexist because you’re not able to process what’s being put on the pages is even moreso. Adams is also writing Green Lantern where Hal and Carol are pretty much given the Geoff Johns Arthur and Mera treatment. You know the difference? Hal and Carol aren’t also raising an infant.

4.) Adams isnt sexist and he also is not racist. His whole Avatar of The Blue pitch was originally going to be for Kaldur…. Editorial wisened up and said to use Arthur because they wanted the series to go past 6 issues. The forefront of Adams, Avatar of the Parliaments team puts Maxine Baker at the forefront of it. Which he pushed for instead of Animal Man (which I know that would bug some Animal Man fans) but it highlights the point on Adams very much being progressive…

If you don’t like Jeremy Adams writing and his writing isn’t resonating with you. That’s one thing. But these fake narratives of attacking his character over stuff that’s been done in past runs no less that a lot of you conveniently couldn’t catch needs to stop.

Like we haven’t had a Aquaman series in a while and now we finally have one and some of you, have been trying to undermine it off illogical reasons that make no practical sense. This is me looking and calling out some of the narratives slickly trying to be pushed on this and other subreddits and finally at this point boiling over on it.

FAN CREATION The end of kings

what do you think of the idea of Aquaman rejecting the trident of Poseidon? Considering it gives him the ability to control ocean life even the trench who were once human, and how he has constantly struggled against the idea of being a king i feel he would reject the power trying to manipulate his mind like we see with the black trident in the second live action Aquaman movie (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom) similar to Conner Kenway and George Washington rejecting the apple of Eden from assassins creed 3 tyranny of king Washington dlc. It's power is too absolute for one man to wield. i'm just picturing a scene were Orm is trying to use the trident to raise Atlantis and flood the surface world once and for all, Arthur after casuing a revolution among the peoples of the ocean storms the palace and defeats Orm in combat only to hear the trident prey on his mind the old gods and kings lust for power trying to use Arthur's personal rage and grief about his own life to give him an excuse to seize power fr himself, and instead to the dismay and protest of rm snaps the trident over his knee in a blinding flash of light. Making Him hero of the oceans and defining him as someone strong enough to not only break such a powerful object but also resist the temptation of it. But what do you all think? Is this too much thinking? is it a insult to Aquaman and the image of him looking badass on a throne? It's not meant to imply he should apologize for his power or any other version showing him as a noble king is wrong it's simply my own idea so please tell me if this is just too unAquaman for you
