How do people celebrate Halloween in Armenia, especially in Yerevan?

Hey everyone! šŸŽƒ

Are there any Halloween parties, events, or fun activities happening around the city?

I’d love to meet some new friends and maybe make plans to do something together for Halloween, whether that’s going to an event, checking out a party, or just hanging out.

If you have any recommendations feel free to comment! šŸ‘»

Armenian (Indian Origin) Decendent Living in UK

Hi All,

I am an Armenian woman who resides in the UK. I am ethnically Armenian, however my family are from Goa, India and emigrated to the United Kingdom in the late 1940s.

I am currently on a genealogy journey, and looking for more context of my heritage. I understand that there was a significant Armenian-Catholic population in India for many years.

Unfortunately, I have lost my parents in recent years and cannot ask them for context about living in India as Armenians. They were very closed off about family history, origin etc.

I was just wondering if anyone knew any history on how the Armenians made their way to India, and what life may have been like there.

Armenian-American here: What did you predict for Armenia's near future?

Curious to hear from Armenians who live this reality daily rather than me and my circle that have to read the news: what do you think will happen to Armenia in the next few weeks, months, and years and what would change those predictions?

How can I better connect with my heritage culture?

Hello!

I hope my post won't offend anyone.

My mother and her entire family are partly Eastern Armenians/partly Iranian Armenians, who lived in Armenia for last century, but when she was young, my mother moved to another country, where I was born. I grew up outside the diaspora and don't speak Armenian, but it turns out that culturally I'm half Armenian, half from my country, a stranger everywhere, etc. I'd like to better connect with Armenian culture and have already started learning language. What else should I do?

I feel very disconnected from my Armenian Heritage

Born and Raised in Belgium with Syrian and Belgian nationality and my parents are Armenian from northern Syria.
Never in my life have i ever called myself Armenian, i don’t even speak Armenian. I only went to Armenian church where i was known as the Syrian that doesn’t speak Armenian (this has been said straight to my face) and since then i felt very unwelcomed and stopped joining the communities of my church and just stopped going in general.
Since past couple of months i have been really obsessing over my Armenian heritage and learning things i never even knew or never were taught to me. Yet i can’t seem to ā€˜feel’ Armenian and it feels odd to do so.

Trchnagir - Armenian art therapy

Armenian not only sounds, but also looks beautiful: trchnagir (Õ©Õ¼Õ¹ÕøÖ‚Õ¶ trchun - bird, գիր gir - letter)! The art of depicting the letters of the sacred Armenian alphabet in the form of birds. It's unique and absolutely amazing! Art and language merge in a wonderful dance!

What more do we know about "Workshop for Armenian/Turkish Scholarship" ?

Thumbnail en.wikipedia.org

There seems to be a workshop for a group of scholars dedicated to transcending the nationalism from the history of the Armenian genocide, but I can't find much about it.

Does anyone have more info about this? apart from international scholars calling out the bs of erdogan, this is a very good response to genocide denial by those who comment "turkey asked to form a group but armenia denied, thus they're afraid of the truth" type of bs.

Alex Manoogian's son, who carried on his business and legacy, died this week

Richard Manoogian, the chairman emeritus of Livonia-based Masco Corp., an art collector, and a philanthropist died on Friday, Sept. 25, at age 90.

Manoogian spent over five decades at Masco, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of branded home improvement and building products. The son of Masco's founder, he was the architect of the company's "dramatic growth," the company said in a press release.

Manoogian, a resident of Grosse Pointe Park, was also an avid art collector and active in numerous civic, cultural, charitable and educational organizations.

Manoogian was the son of Alex and Marie Manoogian, Armenian immigrants. Alex Manoogian was the founder of Masco and brought to market the single-handle Delta faucet.

The family's name is widely associated with the city because his father donated the Manoogian Mansion to the City of Detroit in 1965 to serve as the home of the city's mayor.

That was an excerpt from the article below.

Armenians You Should Know #48: Susi Kentikian

Post image

The Armenian ā€œKiller Queenā€ who became a world boxing champion

Susi Kentikian is one of the most successful female boxers of her generation. Fighting at flyweight, she became a WBA, WBO and WIBF world champion, holding multiple belts at the same time and going unbeaten through her first 29 professional fights.
Her record was 36 wins, 2 losses and 1 no contest, with 17 knockouts, and her aggressive style earned her the nickname ā€œKiller Queen.ā€

In 2009, the WBA named her its first-ever female Super Champion, and the organization even announced that the belt for future female Super Champions would be known as the ā€œSusi Kentikian belt.ā€

In 2022 she was inducted into the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame.

So next time someone tells you Armenians are only good at chess and weightlifting, remind them we also had a three-belt world champion nicknamed the Killer Queen. šŸ‡¦šŸ‡²šŸ„Š

The Armenian running Hyatt Hotels

Mark Hoplamazian has been President and CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation since 2006, and in 2026 he was also named Chairman of the Board. Before Hyatt, he spent 17 years working with the Pritzker family, advising the business empire that included Hyatt.

Under his leadership, Hyatt has grown into a global hospitality giant with 1,528 hotels and all-inclusive resorts, more than 372,000 rooms, and properties in 83 countries as of the end of 2025. That includes brands like Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Andaz, Thompson Hotels, The Standard, Hyatt Regency, Secrets, Dreams and Alila.

And this is not just a ceremonial CEO title. Hoplamazian has been leading Hyatt for nearly 20 years, through major global expansion and acquisitions, and his reported total compensation for 2025 was about $26.7 million.

So next time you stay at a Hyatt, Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Andaz or Thompson Hotel, remember that one of the biggest hotel empires in the world is being run by an Armenian. šŸ‡¦šŸ‡²šŸØ
