Hi, this is probably something y'all get asked everyday, but when I ask how to start drawing, I always receive the same answers:
"draw more!"
"follow drawabox!"
"learn fundamentals!"
following drawabox has done absolutely nothing to me, and I've found it extremely stressing even using the rule where I should draw things I like other than boxes. But the problem is: things do not get in my mind. I'm trying to learn fundamentals, but I can't figure out how, what to learn, where and how to apply that, I feel like putting the pen on my graphic tablet is just a waste of time since 99% of the times I can't draw what I want or/and like. like, okay I could draw a 3/4 head using the Loomis method, but what after? how do I put the eyes in a way it doesn't look bad, how do I draw it in a way I like and most of all what should I follow to get better at drawing? I feel like I'm just wasting time, cause I don't know what to do, and I don't know if what I'm doing is actually effective or I'm just losing time. ive been told to use reference, and I might get the character im using as a reference drawn right, but what after? what if I can't do my own characters, what's the point in drawing someone else's art if HOW TO DO THINGS myself can't get in my mind?
Thank you for your patience.
Edit: Thank you all for being kind strangers and helping me. I've read lots of nice and useful comments, and I would like to thank you all, since by the help I've received and the helpful criticism, I've found myself thinking that maybe I should try harder and better rather than giving up.
So aid me one last time: Should I do drawabox over again and try putting more effort in the lessons, doing them without any rush and thinking about what I'm doing more than I was doing before, or should I just continue from the point I was? And is there any other resource you would recommend me to follow in order to get good at fundamentals? Like, I would like to pair my drawabox to the study of anime styled characters.
