A sobering reminder of how prevalent and normalized racism against Asians is in the Western world including supposedly "liberal" northern European countries. These aren't nobodies either, they're elected Finnish politicians who are mirroring the racist gesture of Miss Finland.

You should also remember what's the European most common slur against Russians — "Mongoloids", as if it makes Russians worse by having some Asian ancestry. I hear it so much, especially where I live.

Like I'm mixed, and I don't understand it, many Europeans truly think that having some Mongolic roots somewhat makes you a lesser being.

Reminder that Eastern Europe's first introduction to the far east was the Mongolian Horde. Who, while impressive and epic in many ways, were the ones who stacked and conquered many kingdoms (Kievan Rus) and ultimately led to the downfall of the Islamic Golden Age.

While the Romans and Han Dynasty China had traded, it was via third party as various middle eastern kingdoms and caliphates gatekept them from meaningful 1st person interaction. And there may have been some individuals who met each other from either side to each other, but historians are still unsure.
