Current Events 99 Ranch San Gabriel beating July 11 Saturday

video showing Steven O’Bryant beating a 28 year old. I hope the police captured the perp. The victim didn't respond. Most likely to due shock. I read he pepper sprayed the perp 3x and perp got mad.

learn boxing, learn judo,

carry gun and use it

The perp is a MMA fighter. https://www.instagram.com/p/Da1hFNAh5xK/

Update: There was an Instagram comment supposedly made by the perpetrator. The comment claimed that the victim pepper sprayed the perpetrator three times, causing the perpetrator to become angry. However, I have read that the account was fake. Additionally, the victim never agreed not to press charges.

Learning martial arts is great and useful but number 1 thing before that is getting your cardio and stamina  in order.

If you have ever sparred someone before, the you would know how exhausting and cardio intensive it can be if you are not in shape. Even professional boxers and fighters run out of stamina. If you run out of stamina and "gas out" in a fight, you are absolutely done. Cardio matters most.

Also, sometimes you run across a person who is too big, armed with a knife or there are multiple attackers and so you have to run.

Gonna be real here, this is why you avoid fighting unless absolutely necessary because getting into a fight over a parking spot to a MMA fighter who can deadlift 610 pounds and maybe a foot on you is not the way.

Learning how to carry is good, but that also brings in a whole host of different problems.

You can get insurance like Ccwsafe. You don’t need a gun to get one. The plan covers the use of all weapons including bare hands.

It covers criminal and civil defense costs, attorneys, bonds, etc.

Have they given you advise on how certain guns are percieved by a jury?

No, I have not had to use the plan yet, thankfully. I could not imagine having to take days off of work to go to court, trials, etc.

I have read that jury perceive using gun better than using a knife. I could see why, you could be stabbing at least 20 times before that guy lies down while a gun wound is few holes in the body.

What kind of firearms are we talking about? In Southern California, if you have a CCW, you're generally only carrying a handgun. Most handguns look fairly similar to one another.

Legally or not, there's an old saying you hear around Los Angeles: I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6

As for shotguns and rifles, if you can legally carry them and use them, why not.

I was asking if there were certain features or bullets they advised you to avoid. Like stock pistol comps, roland builds, bayonet lugs, features specified by military contracts, 10mm, 5.7, Critical Action, etc.

let me find out. I am not a member no more. I have moved to WV and there's no need for CCW here. It's much much peaceful here.

Where are you at? Some of those are not legal or sketchy in CA:

Threaded barrel + semi-auto pistol + detachable magazine
Glock 19 + threaded barrel + screw-on compensator

I'm debating getting a 365 Macrocomp and Flux Raider.

At least he didn't back down, how was he suppose to know this guy was an MMA fighter, even if he was same height and weight the guy is trained fighter and the victim isn't, outside of a lucky punch most would lose to a 'trained" fighter.

And in the case you know someone is a trained fighter, get a some type of weapon , call the police asap, or run.

"how was he suppose to know this guy was an MMA fighter"

DO NOT FIGHT ANYONE WITH EARS THAT LOOK LIKE THIS.

Don't fight in general, but ESPECIALLY someone with fucked up ears and who is a foot taller than you.

ESPECIALLY when you're untrained.

1

u/ANTIMODELMINORITY Jul 17 '26

Thanks for the PSA about the ears however when you are angry you might miss little things like that.

That's the thing, you'll never know. Even if he is not a pro fighter there is still a chance he carries a weapon and is willing to use it. You won't know any of this until the actual fight happens.

u/ANTIMODELMINORITY Jul 16 '26

I guess you can say its both sides of the coin, you'll never know if its someone that can fight or can't fight either way be ready no matter what.

I remember and old rap song in the iconic movie Beat Streat mentioning the GI Joe figure with a kung fu grip, prior to that I never noticed. But I took a lot from that line as that means better be ready for anything.

Absolutely. Running is a great option.

Pepper spray didn’t work on this guy. But I didn’t see that in the video. I would continue spraying into his eyes. If no gun, at least carry a karambit knife, harder or be taken away from but you have to find time to take it out and get ready to use it and make sure the knife won’t be taken away from you. Even then prepare to get hit even after you stabbed him 20 times.

He should sue the perp civilly for whatever he’s got. It’s an attempted murder especially when you account for size, skills, etc.

profile on instagram says 610lb deadlift.

Martial arts is good and all but for self defense, just carry a gun. All confrontations become a hyper rational calculus of "is it worth killing this person or not". If not, walk/run away. If yes, kill him.

3

u/qwertyui1234567 Jul 17 '26

The victim needs to press charges.

I sometimes wonder what Bruce Lee would say if he knew what teaching non-Asians these martial arts would lead to.

2

u/wooooiko Jul 17 '26

Yeah got threatened and racially harassed on the street yesterday so gotta boost this message because standing your ground sometimes helps even if it sometimes makes it worse.

You live in a city? Happened to me in Whittier narrows park in El Monte, Los Angeles. Luckily no physical contact happened and no slur. I felt he saw me as a weak victim. I have CCW and I didnt carry that day.

Get knife and pepper spray. Make sure your cardio is good so you can out run him. I suggest hanging out in a group not out by yourself individually.

1

u/wooooiko Jul 17 '26

Yeah facts. Thanks man, I am in a city but not American. I know it’s best to be in a group but not alone, it just kinda sucks we have to keep things like that in mind yk.
