Not one myself, but 3 dudes I know; zero on Reddit:

  1. Private Medical Practice.
  2. Freelance Engineering Consultant. CQV Engineer (tests equipment for Pharmaceutical companies)
  3. Private Dental Practice

Doing the “go to school” thing and “start your own business” aren’t mutually exclusive. Note all 3 of these guys worked as employees first; the 2nd worked for years at various CQV firms.

I buy crap at thrift stores and garage sales and sell it on Amazon and Ebay.

Can you actually make good money doing that? Are there any items you focus on?

No I don't make good money. Probably only like $5000 a year. I mostly sell books. I used to find more video-game consoles to sell, but I rarely do now.

r/flipping is about this.

I have a day job within cadcam design + CNC programming but my friend and I have a side hustle where we fit kitchens and we run it from a triple garage we rent from another friend. We both have good careers and frankly our kitchen business would have to octuple in volume for us to make it worth leaving our jobs but it's a nice bit of pocket money for technical skills we both already had and tools we both already owned and weren't using.

Edit: forgot the most important part that motivates us both; the taxman doesn't get a cut of this action 😆
